1. It probably is in terms of standard... but the pace and style is very British... They like to get the ball forward and are used to having a physical battle - More so than the Czech league and most of the other mainland European leagues (imo)Hoas being 6''8 is pretty much used to players babbling around his feet like insects. :)
 2. The issue with Strivavka (the spelling eludes me as well) was that the Czech league is very different to our league... The Scandinavian leagues on the other hand are a little closer to ours in terms of speed and style. Hoas was just a name i thought was worth a mention... One of probably hundreds of names that will no doubt be bounded around on this website this summer whilst Lambert sits on a beach in his speedos and ray bans on,  Agatha Christie novel in one hand and a can of Iron Bru in the other.  :)
 3. We struggled to match Brighton for wages last season, Ricki is on probably twice what Holt is on as is Barnard. The players we sign in the summer will no doubt be offered more to play elsewhere. It will come down to them wanting to play for Norwich. Ricki is happy where he is and will no doubt fire the Saints into the Championship next season. Their strike force is frightening... Lambert, Barnard, Connolly, Antonio, Lallana... Sure they''ll add to this in the summer as well.  I''d like to see us trial Ovinds Hoas... 6ft 8 striker from Norway. He''s scored well over there and was linked to us a season or so ago. I think he came over and trialled at a few English clubs but went back home and continued to score... He''d be a risk but maybe one worth taking... He''d be 10 times cheaper than Ricki... (maybe not as prolific mind you.... but as a back up... He''s a monster of a man to bring off the bench!)
 4. yea please. He''d be good back up for Holt. I think he was born here so he might fancy signing for Norwich.
 5. I wonder why some people bother supporting Norwich... We have years of loss, pain and agony and when we finally win something people don''t want to celebrate! It doesn''t matter what league you''re in... if you win it you should celebrate it. You might look at League One as poor and that Norwich are too big to have been in it in the first place... but Norwich made it look easy as they played excellently. There will be a lot of big clubs still in league one next season... including Sheff Weds, Southampton and three teams out of Leeds, Charlton, Swindon, Millwall and Huddersfield. - I bet all of these clubs would celebrate if they were in our position. Last time I saw our trophy cabinet, it was hardly full of silverware. Enjoy it.
 6. Enjoyed reading the feature on Malky talking about ''his club'' Norwich. He talks about Norwich as ''we'' still... Shows that the big scot has as much affection for the club as the fans have for him. I dread the day Paul Lambert moves up to the Prem (if he doesn''t make it there with us!) But if/when he goes... I would like Malky. He''s done a top job at Vicarage road, other managers would have seen that side relegated, but Malk has got them playing and done a good job.
 7. When you say a ''Safri-like'' player what do you mean by that? I would have thought Safri was more of a holding midfielder which is the role Russell err holds at the moment. Saf did hit a good dead ball though. You could argue that Lappin (numerous assists this season) and Chris Martin have taken over this role. Funnily enough Chaplow would add something different to the midfield. I think Chaplow was a great shout...
 8. I would defo take Chaplow. Bags of potential... Just needs a former European Cup winning midfielder as his manager to get him back on track... Now where can he find one of those?
 9. Fans need to be a little more realistic on who we could afford. Signing this guy even on loan would cost has near on 300k in fees alone, let alone his high wages. I would imagine this would be a fair chunk of our transfer budget and probably about two or even three players worth of wages. Signing loanees who didn''t care much for this club was part of the reason we got relegated... I for one don''t want to go down the route of signing loanees like this. Permanent signings of young or hungry players is the way forward. Taarabt is a decent player for sure, but there are many more out there who we could sign on a perm basis for a lot less... I fully trust Lambert, Kersa and the new chief scout (whoever that may be) to bring in the talent that is required next season.
 10. two members of indie band ''The Leaves'' played division two football in the Icelandic League... I don''t think you''d exactly call them household names though... even in Iceland!
 11. just want to add... It pains me greatly that Leeds are likely to go up... Beating Rovers at home should be a piece of cake even for dirty leeds. To me... Leeds are  the equivalent of a WWII bomber flying over to Germany, dropping its bombs but only semi hitting the target and then limping home only surviving a crash landing by the skin of their teeth... If the season were two weeks longer or they had to play a team with a bit more grit in their last game, they would no  way finish in second. I just hope Trollope puts the boot in and makes them have a real go at Leeds.
 12.

He''s a Nigerian isn''t he?
I guess that makes him a bigger nob than you then? OTBC
Pretty sure it is nothing to do with him being foreign or a language issue as I think he was born in Greenwich, London... I think it i more to do with him ''bigging up'' his two teams and... let''s not beat around the bush here... footballers aren''t exactly known for being academic are they? (apologies to Adrian Coote and co who appeared on Countdown)
 13. Just because we are in the Championship again it doesn''t mean we have loads of money. Beattie is on like 35K plus a week, there is no way we could afford a player like that... People need to try and be a little more realistic on who we will sign this summer otherwise they might be left very disappointed.
 14. Just to add, If Jonathon Grounds is on a free, he would be excellent playing at left back for us (he can play there as well as CB... I think LB is his preferred position though) Imagine the height we could put in the box on corners etc... Doc, Nels, Grounds, Holt....
 15. If you want to go down the line of picking up freebies from Ippers I would say Richard Wright is still a very good keeper. Obviously he isn''t liked by most Canary fans but he''s a very decent keeper and would still be there next season if it wasn''t for Keane falling out with him... If we can''t get Forster, getting an experienced keeper in for a year with Rudd as back up could be a good move. Then again, personally I would send Rudd out on loan to a League One/Two club next season so would want us to bring in two keepers (or have Steer on the bench with an emergency recall on Rudd)
 16. i think it is 10 apps overall and also there are some spare to be given out at the clubs discretion. i.e Declan Rudd has been on the bench for most of the season and also played seven games. I am sure he will get a medal. McVeigh has a total of 10 apps already in all comps.
 17.
Okay, my opinion is that he leeched off the club for way too long and was our worst manager ever, he was stupid to take the job (carp on all you like about the board being stupid to appoint him but he''s a grown adult who should have known he was undertaking something that was beyond his skills)His arrogance on telly at the Leeds game implying that Norwich would have been doing just as well had he still been manager was astounding, he later went on to imply the same thing in the EDP some months later.
did you expect him to say... "Yeah do you know what? I was rubbish... I should never have taken the job in the first place when I think about it... what was I thinking...?!?! jeeze thank god that''s all over!"Come on now... He had self belief as all sportsmen do. If they didn''t they would never have made it as a professional footballer. Other ex pro''s have gone into management without any previous experience and it''s worked... This time it didn''t. Of course he would have believed he could have turned it round... Evidence suggests otherwise but maybe he would? maybe the penny would have dropped? I am not saying for one min that he would have done but I really don''t think it was arrogance and I don''t think it was astounding that he felt that way. I have to say Morty i am surprised you thought that... you seem like one of the more level headed people on here. On the topic of freeloading... (was it Wiz who mentioned this? It usually is...) I think that is spiteful really. He had to make a living after football and worked at the club... Were Goss, Milligan and all the others freeloading too? Maybe you think they are. I don''t.They were doing a job at the club. I bet you you can''t find a club in the whole league who doesn''t employ former players. It really isn''t uncommon for former players to be employed by their old club as people like dealing with former players... It''s good advertising etc... I haven''t got time to explain it all but hopefully I shouldn''t need to... However... If people deem it freeloading like some people do with lifelong JSA benefits etc then perhaps I do!
 18.

Surely this has been discussed enough. Move on.
stay out of the topic then!
repeating myself... but... AGREED! stay off the thread if it''s of no interest to you! again... i know it''s a free [miserable] country etc... but really... come on!
 19.

Jesus, not again.
Well i thought it a good oppotunity to see what peoples thoughts were now that the whole mess is 100% behind us. The topic is quite obvious what it will be about if you dont wish to view it then dont click it.
agreed... I don''t know why people bother if it isn''t something they''re interested in! Each to their own though... it''s a free [miserable] country etc... I will be meeting him at a wedding in just over a week and I will defo see him as a legend. He''s done a lot for the people of this county but sadly people have short memories. Brilliant keeper as well.
 20. Pretty sure Jens is a lefty as well. He played on the left side of the centre backs for the rezzies last time i saw him and was happy to use his left foot. He looked pretty natural.. then again, Scandinavians and the Dutch are often pretty decent with both feet.  Eitherway, if he is confident on his left it will give us more balance if he''s in the side with either Doc or the Lord.
 21.

Yeah he was brilliant today. He has come on leaps and bounds this season. I was worried for a moment when he scythed down one of their players so late that the whistle had gone for a foul to us a few seconds before... but the ref saw sense and saw it for what it was and only gave him yellow. His distribution is 100 times better now and he cuts out nearly everything. I hope he can make the step up because he''s a likable player. And he''s proved a lot of us very wrong!
He was immense today, as he has been for the past few weeks. However, I''m still wondering if he has the ability to step up a division - I hope so, because he seems a ''genuine'' guy.
I''m betting he can.  Teams at every level would pay through the nose for a last-ditch specialist.  He''ll more than likely never score for us again after this season, but his desire to stop at all costs is invaluable, whatever level you play at.  I''m almost certain he slipped over only to wiggle his body in such a manner to put his /head/ between the ball and the goal during today''s game.  Round of applause for The Admiral!
I think Nelson has a lot more goals in him actually... in fact IF i was a betting man I would bet on him scoring once more in the next two games. He''s scored three including an overhead kick, had one off the line, had two disallowed and always looks dangerous at corners. I like him and think he has a place in the squad for sure... One position we certainly don''t need to bring new players in for in centre back. The Doc, Nelson, Zak (will be brilliant next season if given a run of games) and Jens are all decent defenders and luckily two are left footed and two are right footed which helps out.
 22.
No thanks, would be better off trying to bring Charlie Daniels in from Leyton Orient.
agreed ... Daniels has looked a decent player this season... not just against us.
 23.
I fear for us next season because our players just average league 1 players  i hink Holty will find it hard next season in the Championahip
FFS! average league one players? Average league one players don''t win the league with games to spare!
 24. I worked on 442 a bit this season and currently work in their office for a different mag... needless to say i will be bringing this up with some of their staff! That and the way they work out their league player top 100.
