1. Oh and he didn''t smoke by the time he took the Leeds job. But using smoking as a lazy way of depicting the 60''s and 70''s is what we do nowadays.
 2. I really thought it was just solidly, determinedly dark. I cannot imagine him being so thoroughly depressed and most of all out of control as the book depicts him. As for being written in an extraordinarily powerful way, I thought it was lazy to be honest. All the "down the corridor, behind the stand, to the office, to the chair, his corridor, his stand, his office, his chair." nonsense. Sorry I''m being a bit scathing I just always thought Clough was pretty good at laughing things off, as he did on TV the night he was sacked. It is also true that he got a massive (£100,000) I believe pay off and was rather bemused by the whole thing, he knew he''d get another chance. Provided You Don''t Kiss Me is excellent, and I''d like to see a heart-warming biographical film, before I see a film based on something, Clough, Leeds United and football as a whole would be better off forgetting. I''m a sentimental fool, who will give the Red Riding quartet a pop.
 3.
I just can''t understand why we are not selling Cureton(or giving him away). He''s crap! He does not score anywhere near enough goals. For a striker, he''s got a terrible goal scoring record in the last couple of years. All this talk about Hoolahan leaving, and Lambert decides to KEEP our worst forward! It''s blinkin crazy!!!
Ok. We are not selling him because, as you have so eloquently pointed out he''s crap, so who would want to buy him? We are not giving him away because in order to do that we would have to pay off the last year of this "hilarious" 3 year contract good old Granty gave him. Presumably it is better to pay him to be here, than pay him to be somewhere else. We may still have scraped survival last year if Roeder had followed this logic. Please realise that you cannot just "get rid" of contracted proffessional footballers.
 4. Why do you presume to know that nobody has ever come in for him? Are you his agent?
 5. Russell should be booed, he''s essentially made himself unavailable for selection and doesn''t want to be here. He probably would improve our side though. I personally cannot bear watching him play because every time he "controls" the ball he kind of flicks it up to knee height, and sends an odd, bouncing, side foot, volleyed pass to the nearest opposition player.
 6. I thought the book was pretty dire to be honest. A novel based on real characters. Conveniently most of them are dead, and you can''t libel the dead. It doesn''t really have any basis in fact but it uses real people. Nobody would have read this book if it didn''t have Clough''s name attatched, but there''s no real reason to base it on Clough, it should have been a fictional manager but then that wouldn''t have sold or got a movie made. Most of the "events" in the book have been dis-credited, and it includes very few of Clough''s fantastic quotes. I hear the film "paints him in a different light to the book", well why not just make a film on Clough''s life then, why promote this badly written novel any further.
 7.
Wait, do you really think an owner can just go around picking bits out to keep for themselves? You don''t think the other shareholders might object to that? Don''t know the legal situation but i should imagine there are laws preventing owners from doing that too. Here i will take all the assets and leave all the debt and then the let the club go into administration. Surely there is a reason why that never happens?
Err, it does happen. Quite a lot in the lower leagues.
 8.

I dont get why some people have been slagging McVeigh off? Names like ''Mcfat'' are totally uncalled for if you ask me. The creativity he produced on saturday was fantastic to watch, yes he tired but thats to be expected. Can we give him 10/11 games before criticising? Just give the guy a chance[Y]
McVeigh was excellent on Saturday. If you compare that to the pitiful effort by Whaley last night ( at fault for both the second and third goals and Croftesque crossing) you can see one good reason why we did so much better against Wycombe.
Maybe we did better against Wycombe because they are not as good as Sunderland.
 9.
"I think this is an excellent signing providing he stays fit." - The Chirp "i am really surprised a championship club hasn''t gone in for him... in fact until i see him holding up a norwich shirt next to gunny i will worry one might come and get him." - The Chirp again "brilliant signing, quality lower league player with bags of potential." - Fuglestad "but if he stays fit he''ll be a real asset to the club" - Canary_on_the_trent "Would be an ambitous signing in my eyes." - JuanVelasco "I personally think this would be a terrific signing so fingers crossed it comes off" - lincoln canary "Potentially a very good signing" - crafty canary "I''ll seriously re-think the whole ''Gunn is a bad manager'' thing if we land this guy. He''s a very good player." - Chunky Norwich
I completely stand by my comments. However, I will not judge any player on 3 games, especially under the circumstances. I think Tudor-Jones has potential and I think he will, either at Norwich or elsewhere, be a good league 1 player.
 10.
Just a quick post to say how hilarious I find some threads started by people, and how exaggerated they are. Whilst I think Lappin has had two cracking games for us, I think posts entitled ''lappin - our best ever forgotten player?'' are excessively over-the-top. Congruous posts suggesting that Doherty is our worst defender are similarly amplified in my opinion! I for one admit he was below par last night, but the runner up in last seasons player of the year award is no where near our worst defender!
Indeed. They annoying thing is that it seems like the majority of people see everything as black and white, awesome or rubbish. Our players are all average as footballers go. Some are playing better than others at the moments, others could play better in different circumstances. How a defender who has been voted player of the year can be our worst ever defender is beyond stupid. Lappin has great delivery, we all know that, he''s a bit slow though. Hopefully he''ll do well, but I can imagine him being given the same treatment by the "fans" as Clint Easton, Ian Henderson, Chris Lewellyn, Mark Rivers, Iwan Roberts (first season), Andy Hughes, Carl Robinson, Shaun Carey, Daryl Sutch, Jon Otsemobor, Peter Thorne, Chris Brown, Jamie Cureton etc. after a couple of quiet games.
 11. How surprising! Millwall and West Ham having a scrap, who''d have thought it? I may be annoying a lot of people here, but hey, what else are message boards for? Is it really that unusual for somebody to get stabbed in London on a Tuesday night? Quite clearly, football hooliganism excites people. The amount of films made on the subject is ridiculous. I''m not saying the films inspire the violence, but it has certainly become a lot more acceptable in certain circles to "joke" about hooliganism than it was ten years ago. Severe punishments for all violent crime must be instigated in this country. There will now be a massive investigation into this, but every other poor bastard who gets stabbed will get the usual brush off. If it wasn''t within a couple of miles of the football, none of us would have heard anything about it. Some people want to fight, in my view we should let them. Give them a car-park with a fence round it, get the scientology medical teams who love to help out in an emergency to drag out anyone who hits the deck. Anybody who fights outside said carpark, should get a custodial sentence, as should ANYBODY CONVICTED OF A VIOLENT CRIME. Just an opinion, makes the world go round.
 12. I may be alone here, but I''d find it a bit sickening if I was a Notts County fan. Tw@ts like Campbell and Sven turning up and running on about the club''s great history. I''m sure most of them are loving it, but can''t they just build gradually and solidly? They could buy the best players in Leagues 1 and 2 and work their way up. Sol Campbell in League 2, does make a mockery of the league system.
 13.
Anyone know the group behind them that are financing them?
Yeah, nobody at the FA or the press or even the Notts County fans know who they are, but we all do on the pink''un forums. It''s Peter Cullum and Robert Chase.
 14.

Id put Maric as 3rd choice behind Cody and McDonald. Id put Martin at 4th. Daley and Renton = joke Daley showed hes really not up to it tonight :(
Daley = joke = stupid comment He''s a 19yr old in his 1st start for the club against premier league opposition and taking all that into account, I thought he looked quite lively particularly early on. What were you expecting him to do? PS Have you even seen Maric play?
Some players develop later than others. Nope but ive seen Daley play and I wasnt wow''d. Hes 19... so what ? Thats old ....look at Smith and Adeyemi To be honest I doubt he will feature and he was probably up for a little bit of " Hey League 2 and BSP, need a striker ???" rather than actually in the team for any competative reason. Couple of the times he was about i couldnt help think Martin and McDonald or even Jamie Lad could have done better. I love how fickle people are. Play Adeyemi  etc etc etc they are profesionals.... Oh but Daley is only young hes not ready.. Funny stuff And i think your PS is well said. no i havent seen Maric play... but it would be nice wouldnt it !!!!
15.

i feel for the team hes scouting for .
Cant think of a bad permanent signing? [8-)]
Well there weren''t many actual signings. But, to sell Joe Lewis, to buy Matty Pattison is pretty pathetic. Where are they now?
 16.
Thomas Helveg for me, shame Worthington didn''t give him a proper go in the side until later in the season - where it coincided with a sharp upturn in results! Pure class - he was opta rated as the best defender in Euro 04, and we got him! Steeno second I reckon. Oh, and Erik Fuglestad? He had a 14 or 15 year old girlfriend while at Norwich, so a big no to him.
What the Hell? I hope you''ve got a good reason to post that.
 17.
Good win, and overall a good performance, but still a bit concerned about defensive frailties - Spillane has some good qualities, but gets knocked off the ball a bit too easily for me, and with some of the big b%ggars in this league, that is a worry. Also the keeper''s a bit small and lightweight - their two goals were basic errors from our key defenders and on another day might have seen us drop 1 or 2 points. Still very happy with the win, and Lambert seems to have the courage to make some big decisions and take a bit of risk. So a Team rating for me of 7 with Lappin my man of the match and worth an 8+. But more important for me is Lambert who I give a 9 to. Also must mention the Ref - I thought he was excellent, and fair, and I''d also give him an 8.
To be fair, the referee was completely fooled by Lappin''s dive for the free kick from which our fourth goal was scored.
 18. He''s scouting for a Premiership club. Which basically means he goes and watches a few matches on expenses, and tells his "mates" who they should sign.
 19.
He had a good game today, good crosses and free kicks. The guy is still too lightweight for me. He struggled badly in the Championship but maybe he will shine at this level. If he can keep up todays level against the stronger sides he will be worth his place.
But I thought Neil Adams said you need to be big and physical at this level as all the players are seven foot tall man-beasts intent on sucking the blood from any player who can pass the ball.
 20.
It wasn''t an international import, but can anyone remember Neil Emblen? Shocking player IMO!
Jesus! So annoying. Emblen was a decent player and went on to captain and play very well for a team in the Championship, for several years after leaving us. He was not a "shocking player", it just didn''t work out for him here, being given the captaincy before he''d played a match and being injured for almost all his time here didn''t help. Your opinions are pointless, if you make such ridiculous sweeping statements.
 21. I think it''s worth pointing out that had Gunny still been in charge and had he started Cureton and Otsemobor for this game, the crowd would have booed them. Saying Lambert is a wonderful manager for playing these two, when you''ve all been saying they are terrible players, not fit to wear the shirt, is a bit rich. Maybe we can all realise that we have a squad of decent players, some will come good, some won''t. Doesn''t make them all shambolic players, sometimes tactics, clubs, cities, team-mates, coaching or other things make a player appear better or worse than his natural ability.
 22. I would like to see him as Kings Lynn manager, once they get rid of Heggs. Not sure Lynn, are so big on the Norwich link these days though, or could afford Gunn or anybody else for that matter.
 23.
Fuglestad Terracing - great, while I love terracing and have been on many (including almost all of the grounds we will be visiting this year) this alone certainly does not make up for the fact we are in this league. We could be going to grounds we hadn''t been to before in any division, considering how many new ones there are and of course it depends on how many each individual fan had already visited. I have met plenty of real football fans over the years and will continue to do so, regardless of the league we are in. Ken Bates, now that is clutching at straws to find a reason to love the third division Players a bit different, do you mean ones with no talent whatsoever, well we have had enough experience of that recently, haven''t we? Nothing concerning NCFC is ever predictable, except under Delia Smith decline on an ever decreasing scale. Singing at grounds. Er. What kind or reason is that. There is singing at some grounds, less or more roughly depending on the strength of opposition and the state of the game at the time. I think you will find it hard to beat the singing at the San Siro/Cardiff play off final. Hello third division? More straw clutching. Neil Adams is a whole lot better than we probably would otherwise have. Who would you prefer, someone from the NCFC school of spin? No thanks. I think he''s just about spot on with most of his opinion and thoughts regarding NCFC. I may not agree with all of it, but don''t have to. So the benefits again of the third division are - better players, more money, better quality of football, a rapid change of status for the better for NCFC? No, none of these, therefore an unmitigated disaster for all concerned, and an event which could see the end of our club, if we overstay our welcome.
They are my reasons. I may be odd. I like smaller, older grounds, and I generally prefer the atmosphere at such places. Just an opinion. I think the Archant article I refer to was unbalanced, ill-informed sh!te, to fill up the page. "No talent whatsoever" - idiotic, ridiculous opinion. "quality of football" - generally the players in League 1 will naturally be of lower quality. However, in terms of entertainment, I find lower league games much more interesting then watching the Premiership. . Back to Neil Adams...if he doesn''t know anything about the players or teams in this division, he should not be on the radio talking about it. Imagine ITV (or whoever) lose their Formula 1 coverage, and then cover the Indycar 500 or whatever. They would expect their "experts" to be knowledgable on the subject or they''d get in somebody who was. I cannot see how you can make a case for Neil Adams defence. He is a radio "expert" who happily admitted on air that he knew nothing about the subject. There are plenty of people who do. I would prefer somebody who doesn''t work for the club, and knows a bit about the teams we''re playing.
