  1. I think the worst thing we could do, and possibly would do under previous managers, would be to sit back, and try to defend a point. Basel showed that last night, that if you get into them, play without fear, their defense can be very shaky. I really fancy our chances for a point if we get at them early, and rumble them. I''d rather go down 3/4-1 then a damp squib 1-0 where we posed no threat. Hopefully, as Lambert has shown, he''s not one to shy away from a challenge, and shrink back into his shell and play defensively. I really hope we play Fox, and Lambert isn''t tempted to put Crofts in instead for more defensive cover. We''ll need someone who can split a defense with a single pass like Fox can. Let''s not forget Fox was a Man Utd trainee, and I''m sure he''d love to go back there and show that, yeah he fell down the leagues, but he worked his way back up and played at Old Trafford, and did a bloody good job! But Anyway, in Lambert we trust, and we can safely assume any team he puts out will give it a right good go, and if nothing else, put out a good account of ourselves.
  2. I once played poker with Tom Adeyemi...
  3. If the current trend of U21 GKs being called up continues, how long till Declan Rudd gets called up before Ruddy!
  4. If I''m honest, I wouldn''t be that much more confident with Steer in goal than Remi Matthews. I don''t see the point in tearing him out of Yeovil for the season. Maybe we could recall him for a game then send him straight back? I don''t know the exact rules but if it was possible, I''d be tempted. Still my preferred choice would be to sign a Marcus Hahnemann figure, if they are happy to sit on the bench for a reasonable wage.
  5. Ruddy got booed the next time he got the ball, but nothing too malicious. It wasn''t really his fault. I think he was a bit tentative in coming out with the penalty incident because of it and hence didn''t get to the ball. Harsh red though. IMO Torres should have been sent off. It''s a petty thing, but it was a deliberate hack, you couldn''t have any complaints if he was sent off. Like it''s already been said, if he didn''t have a yellow already, he''d have definitely been booked.
  6. I''ve got a ST in the Barclay, but never sit there in cup games. When its not packed the atmosphere isn''t all that, and frankly I''d rather be able to see most of the game if I''m not getting the atmosphere.
  7. Yeah, you''ll have to upgrade to an adult ticket. I had this problem last year. I tried to take a U21 mate on my dad''s senior (65+) season ticket when he couldnt attend, and even though a 65+ season ticket is more expensive than a U21, I still had to upgrade to an adult ticket, as they don''t sell U21 casual tickets. I think it was about £20 (the difference in the amount you pay per game for your season ticket, and the price of the casual ticket). Having said that, they may not question U16, but because my friend was obviously not a senior citizen, even though the senior ticket was more expensive!
  8. Very off topic I know, but I switched on to watch the Sheffield Wednesday game last night, only to see Jon Otsemobor playing at left wing..! He also scored a penalty. We clearly missed a trick here (... not) I would have posted this in it''s just not football. because lets be honest, whatever Otsemobor plays, it''s definitely not football!
  9. I put a quid each on Sergio Garcia and the amateur Tom Lewis at the beggining of the day (no idea why though..!) Good watching so far
  10. Lappin scored a few when he first joined, and when he went out on loan. He''s got a really good left boot on him, you can see by the quality of his crosses! I seem to remember that he hit the post last season with a great freekick! He doesn''t take them very often, as I think they usually give them to Chrissy Martin...
  11. I said this may be a good shout towards the end of last season. German connections, a ''Lambert'' player (infact very similar to how Lambert was as a player), high work rate etc. Shone towards the end of the season from a very poor team. Strongly linked with going back to Villa though, and I seriously doubt we''d want to pay his wages, or him want to take a pay cut. I''d be delighted if we were to sign him, but I just can''t see it happening. Never know though, seems like he loves football and may be willing to take a paycut, if he likes the way Lambert thinks, and plays. Aston Villa are in a bit of turmoil which may lead him somewhere else.
  12. And so Lambert can wait, It''s never too late to score a winner, In injury time, But we know we''ll be fine. ''Cause we''re here to stay It doesn''t quite fit, nor make sense, but it''ll do! (can''t see it being sung though!)
  13. I couldn''t take this going to the last day. I am shitting the bed. I can''t remember the last time we played well on the last day. Please score a goal!
  14. I don''t want to put words in PL''s mouth, but I truly think he will stay. He''s got the chance to create something really special here, become a real hero. Taking us from league one to wherever we end up, he could end up as a legend of not just the club but to the whole English game, a la Alex Ferguson. The foundations are here, with the players and the setup of the club for him to make a great club, from top to bottom. I don''t think he would get that chance anywhere else, unless he went all the way down the leagues, to where he found us. Having said that though, after what he''s done for this club, I would never hold a grudge against him if he wanted to move on, and seek bigger things.
  15. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13169477.stm (sorry I''m not the best at linking...) Bit of a shame, thought he was a tidy player, played well when he came on last night. At least we''ve got cover in Chrissy Martin/Oli Johnson though.
  16. Although the OP makes a good point, I''d like to point out that there is two sides to this argument: Nobody forces these workers in third world countries to work - they work because it makes them better off. Yes this is at a tiny wage compared to western civilizations, but actually in local currency, it isn''t that bad. If the wages were so poor, and the conditions so bad, the workers simply would not work. Further more, often communities arise around these factories. This is because of a multiplier effect, where those workers spend their wages on more consumption, which is supplied by entrepreneurs who open up shops such as cafes around there. Also people move from underemployment in agricultural industries, whereby they have too many people working on a small bit of land, just to provide food, because they may as well, as they''ve nothing better to do. If instead some move to work in the industrial sector within the city, people can earn more money, by which they can now purchase surplus product from those in agriculture, which then leads to increased investment and hence an increased output. Anyways, if you''re interested google the ''Lewis two sector model''. Anyway, the moral of the story is that these massive multi-national aren''t terrible people for paying small wages in less developed countries - in fact they may just help them develop.
  17. I do think alot of whats said on matchdays is out of fustration, I know I''ve been suspect to moaning about one or two of our players when they play a w*nk pass or something. I don''t think, if you asked them midweek, without the tension of a game, they wouldn''t dare to complain when rationality has returned. I know its fustrating listening to people complain about a team that is 3rd in the league, but at the end of the day its always going to happen. It''s the same at every club. If you read any other fan forum, they''re as bad, if not worse e.g. people on Watford''s forum saying Malky ''is on borrowed time!''
  18. Was it sung on Tuesday?! If it was, how did it sound? I really like the idea, really really original! Bound to create a great atmosphere :P Lets get it started on Friday!
  19. Just want to mention, after all the stick he''s got, he''d still be second in Forest''s top scorers!
  20. Was talking to a Forest supporting mate after the game today, saying how we were bringing people on, the quailty of Lansbury, and then you bring on Simeon Jackson to go on to score a 20 min hattrick. He then went on to tell me how bad Simeon Jackson was. I took great pleasure in reminding his, that Simeon Jackson would be second in their top scorer list. Loving life !
  21. No Chrissy Martin or Simeon even on the bench?! Wow must have a stronger squad than even I thought!
  22. Delighted that he scored. Saw it earlier on SSN, and it was quite a neat turn and finish. Happy to eat my words when I said he''d never score with us. Though, he really does need to score more than 1 in 13 or whatever it is now. Hope for many more though!
  23. I still do not understand what the free kick leading to their goal was for, when C. Brown was swinging his elbows all over the place, backing in and managed to give Ward a nosebleed with one of them, and so naturally they get the free kick?! Admittedly I don''t have the best view in the ground, but seemed pretty clear to me! Anyone provide any clarity?!
  24. Don''t really understand why they were time wasting, with how far adrift they are, a point isn''t really going to help their cause at all. They deserve to go down! Can''t see how everyone has failed to mention their blatant hacking of Wes at least twice in the first 2 minutes as well!
  25. Ward wasn''t off the pitch when they scored. He was trying to wipe his blood on the fat b*stard Chris Brown''s shirt! On a side note, As much as I love Wes, to see him get MoM at home from the bloody sponsors about 90% of the time is a massive joke! I swear they do not actually watch the game.
