1.
His agent just confirmed the deal. Welcome to Norwich Johan. Although I still wish your first name was Sal.
Can you link us please?Am I right in saying Elmander is often considered first choice ahead of Toivonen for Sweden? Also, the Swedish Norwich fan on Wotb rates him better. Obviously older too, but lovely feet like that don''t go old.
 2. How about: we have no chance with him preferring to stay at Ajax than come here
 3. I''ve just discovered stats from last season show Garrido was the most effective crosser in the league last season. nice.
 4. my honest prediction is that this season still be very similar to last, including the first game thrashing. mainly because our problem was cutting edge but we have the exact same attacking midfield.
 5. I was just going to say, because they want £20m
 6. Reports in Italy that Norwich are about to submit their increased bid, (from 6.5m euros to 8m euros, which sounds far more realistic)
 7.

Can''t really compare Quag to Vydra - two completely different types of player.
While they are different, they would operate best next to the same type of strikers. Either would give us the dynamsism we need in attack, Quag with his tekkers mainly and Vydra with his pace mainly. Both would be lined up to play off the main man.
I would say that due to the fact they have completely different skills set means they would play in entirely different positions. Quag is a striker who likes to drop deep and will roam around looking for space and the ball - Vydra is a player who will operate mainly on the last defender''s shoulder and will spend most of the game waiting for the ball to come to him.   Vyrda, Hooper, RvW and Becchio are all strikers who like to stay in or around the box, waiting for the service to come to them. Quagliarella will come to the ball and attempt to pull defenders around and doesn''t keep to position, part of the reason why Conte isn''t so keen on him at Juve.
I disagree - although usually I would bow to your superior knowledge of players - I was really impressed when I''ve seen Vydra because I assumed from just seeing goals he''s scored that he was an off-the-shoulder type player, but he dropped back off Deeney a huge amound, collecting the ball from midfield and linking up play. In fact, even a lot of his runs through don''t come off the last shoulder, he runs from deep positons quite a bit
 8. I reckon IF we get Quagliarella (which will be tough with big wage spending competition coming in now), that might be that the sign that Alderweireld needs to be convinced we''re making real strides towards achieving our ambitions.Which would be a brilliant transfer window. Very speculative though. I suspect we will get in a striker (for the second striker role) and a defender in anyhow, even if it isn''t them two.
 9.
Not sure he would use his pace fully if he played behind RvW, or even that he has the touch to lay on balls for the striker. I think that he could do more damage by popping up all over the place and causing mayhem.   He certainly is impressive, and with experience will get even better.
According to Celtic fans he doesn''t have much space, just very good intelligence and positional sense to make the right runs at the right time. Something that suits both the off the shoulder role and dropping deep
 10. Charlie Wyett (who with this same tweet sneakily broke the Hooper news at 2.46am before most news had even got hold of Harry Rednapp''s comments) reckons we have a "decent chance" of signing Quagliarella - follow the thread down.https://twitter.com/CharlieWyett/status/360335315182956544
 11.

QPR just had £5 mil bid accepted by Celtic and he''s now free to talk to them.
Bid was accepted around 3pm today (BBC report the story at 3:40pm) and those odds will reflect things that have happened since.Bit gutted if we do sign him though, I think we should be trying to do better.
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11688/8838665/transfer-news-celtic-accept-increased-qpr-offer-for-gary-hooper
Sigh.Let''s try again.Since QPR have had their offer accepted (around 3pm today), Norwich have become bigger favourites to sign him.
I''ve heard QPR have had a bid accepted...
 12. Reports claimed a bid had been accepted, but it then emerged it wasn''t true.I think this bid probably means he is going there, unless someone else steps in last minute
 13.
Never can any player have had so many assumptions made about him, his every word and his every action is analysed to the extreme.   A few hasty words to a reporter and he is eventually subject to a virtual character assassination on this Board. He parts ways with his agent ("bins" is the word used,) which is probably an everyday happening in the World of professional sportsmen, and this is interpreted as being virtually wholly connected with affairs Norwich City.   As long as there is an outside chance that he may sign for us it is good to keep the embers burning on here, but all this guesswork is plain daft and based upon a minimum of genuine fact-based insight.
I''m not sure if that''s aimed partly at me for suggesting that he''s sacked his agent because he doesn''t want to sign for Norwich. I can assure you I''ve been very frustrated at a lot of people thinking he thought he was above Norwich etc, because he never said as much. So I would only say this on pretty good info - well, the best we''ve got anyway:http://www.vi.nl/radio/242421/Stuitend-om-te-horen-dat-Toivonen-niet-naar-Norwich-wil.htmThis was last week, before he sacked his agent. It says he employed loads of agents to try and find him a new club after PSV threatened him with the reserves. Martin Dahlin is the only one Norwich would contact because he''s the one he''s had a contract with for a few years. But, because of the issue of all the other agents, the communication between Dahlin and Toivonen wasn''t going very well. Thus, things being played out in the press, eg Dahlin talking to the press and saying he doesn''t understand why Toivonen won''t sign for us, last week.Continuing on from that, it suggests (and this may be speculation, but it fits with what''s happened since) Toivonen is annoyed at Dahlin for trying to push through a move to Norwich when he as other agents promising bigger clubs, and is considering sacking him.6 days later, he''s been sacked. I very much doubt this is a Huckerby situation
 14. While I think a striker or 2 and a central defender have to be priority, I wouldn''t be against bringing the right midfielder in.I live with a Forest fan who says their local press was suggesting we''d put in a bid for Adlene Guedioura. I think he would be a great signing because he''s a deep-lying playmaker, like Fox, but can also tackle very well.Wolves were fools to let him go
 15.

Think it''s probably up to Norwich to make their bid once again.
It would actually make sense, since as he''s currently without an agent, we could offer him the same contract plus the 10-15(?) per cent or whatever his agent would get, without any extra costs on behalf of the club. Perhaps that was Toivonen''s idea for sacking him.
He''s got a LOT of agents, which is why the relationship with the one he had before he hired loads more has soured. He''s just sacked the only one who was trying to get him to move here
 16. I can''t really pick much between them. In fact I think Martin''s biggest weakness, which for me is dealing with high balls in behind him, is Whittaker''s also.I''d say Martin just about edges it for me,
 17. Someone said last week that Toivonen had recruited a lot of agents to find him a new club.Norwich would only deal with the one he''s just sacked, because that''s who PSV knew as his agent, but Toivonen was working with other agents who were promising more spectacular moves, and this agent was getting frustrated that he wouldn''t sign because he''d lined a good move up to us.This was someone on either this forum or WOTB, pretty reliable, as evidenced by the fact the agent''s now been sacked. If true, I''m finally convinced his attitude isn''t one we want here!
 18. I didn''t watch him until his poor patch, and I have to disagree with some of the posters so far because I was amazed at just how much he contributed in his overall play, even though he wasn''t in great form.I think he''d be a great player in the future and a good investment, but to be honest there''s nothing solid in this yet. If we did get him, I''d like to see what he''s like utilised as competition for Hoolahan. From what I''ve seen, he drops deep a lot, and is very good linking up and passing. He also scores a lot of his goals by running through from a deep position.
 19.
Without meaning to be a party pooper, when I paid my car insurance to aviva over 12 months, they charged me interest.
But they also have schemes that abide by sharia law if people demand it.
 20. There are real and valid concerns though - if Fabio is worried about his ability to adapt to life in England than so am I. There''s no point spending several million on a player who wants to move home after a couple months. I''m glad he won''t be making the decision to come lightly if he does come.
 21. Personally I think it''s pretty admirable that Unhinged Canary has other things to do in his life than watch the news or look on news websites. Sometimes I wish I lived a life that was less influenced by the media. If he needs to ask who someone is, there''s no need to have a go.
 22. it''s all opinions and guesswork isn''t it, but Id have thought that was harsh on Kouyate
 23.  if we did get him, which I''m sure is unlikely, the African Nations could really mess with our defence
