Paul Tierney - "Never play for Norwich"
claud replied to B-ru's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Paul Tierney is his brother - you can tell because P-A-U-L is spelt rather differently to M-A-R-C.
How the bloody hell could anyone tell that they are brothers by the spelling of their Christian names?By that logic England really does have a long of footballing brothers, Bobby and Jackie Charlton, Gary and Phil Neville, Mark and Ian Wright. -

Forget the bingo, why was the ''kitperson'' hanging up Adeyemi''s and McVeigh''s shirts in the dressing room? Surely players know that they''re not part of the matchday squad before they get in there?
i realy dont think he will anymore. he seems to love being at the helm of a football club, hes a local man (has lived in tiptree for at least a decade) and i really think he is growing to love the club itself.
Do you not feel that Cowling''s constant comments to the media helped only one team on Saturday, and that was us? Somehow I feel that your team may well have performed better in an unhyped game in front of about 6000 people. And if his rallying cries were to encourage more people to watch CUFC, hasn''t that backfired now following the result?

Semi joins Saints on free transfer
claud replied to Canary Man of Kent's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
I''d guess that it''s probably about £150-£200k off the wage bill for somebody that Lambert saw as a sub/back-player, and with him being out of contract soon he would have probably tried to renegotiate at a higher amount were we to go up. Good financial business I''d say. -
Boo the Colchester players...
claud replied to The Walking Man 's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
I don''t think that the stewards will be your issue on Saturday, it will be the home fans. This situation is so well documented locally that if any home fan has a slight suspicion that you''re a Norwich fan then they''re going to report you to a steward. Booing the home players when that doesn''t normally happen, they''re fourth in the league, will stick out like a sore thumb. -
School Teachers at Carrow Road Today

I can imagine the loud chorus of "NO" if all the non-teachers on this board were phoned up in the morning by their boss and told not to come to work. -

Lambert favourite for Burnley
claud replied to norfolkchance1's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
If our club, with Lambert at the helm, is to be remotely successful again then we are going to have to get used to him being linked with every job that''s going at a ''bigger'' club. He might end up taking one of them, but I fully expect that he''ll be linked with/turn down more. -
Not sure about that, since we played Fulham on a Sunday not a Saturday . . .
All of the games would have been on the Sunday though (last game of the season), so the programme would have been too.
In the 60''s and 70''s we BOUGHT players like Crook, Culverhouse, Paddon, Livermore, Gunn, Bowen and many more who were established reserve team players of bigger clubs who couldn''t break into the first team as regulars. We developed them and that paid us back very well.
2/3rd''s of your point relate to the 80''s, but yes. They did.I doubt very much that you could pick up a Tottenham reserve player for £50,000 nowdays though. It would seem that as soon as you deal with a Prem club that transfer fees are seven figures plus.

I bet you couldn''t tell me what it is about "the way we went about the Lambert appointment" that began it all. And whatever it is I fail to see what the Lambert appointment has to do with the ticket alloctaion on January 16th.
You created ill feeling between the clubs with the way you went about the appointment - playing dirty as some of your fans have called it. It''s how we see it in Colchester even if you don''t quite get it. And I fail to see why we should give you more than the official away ticket allocation. Even if you say please.
I certainly didn''t. You may believe that my club did. You must know what it is though if it''s created ill-feeling between the fans. So why don''t you spill the beans? There''s no reason why your club should give us more tickets than you are required to but that isn''t what''s causing the ill-feeling either. It''s the comments from the guy with the big gob that''s doing that. Specifically stuff like "Therefore, on this occasion, I will do everything in my power to stack whatever odds I can in our favour and if that means an empty seat rather than an away supporter then so be it" Now you may well sell these seats to casual football fans. Some may be Norwich fans and some Ipswich fans. But they sure as hell won''t be Colchester fans will they? Because as I understand it your gates only top 5,000 when they are increased by a significant number of away fans.
Why should the statement you quote by Cowling be so provocative. Doesn''t your club do it''s best to stack the odds in its favour in home games? Isn''t that the point of having home games? This obsession with gates is completely irrelevant. Yes we have small crowds and always have done. There are Colchester "followers" in the town who can''t be arsed to go regularly but pop up for the bigger games as there are for most clubs, but they have more right to a ticket for a Colchester home game than does an away supporter. That''s the way you start to grow support and our average gates, small as they are, are growing.
So why go to all that trouble for the Leeds fans?
You, and your fans, are SO close to your club that you spend more time posting on another club''s messageboard than you do on your own (''wonderful'', ''we''re all so close'') club''s.I''ve never been bothered by Colchester United before. In fact I''ve always quite liked all East Anglian clubs bar Ipshite. But you and you''re fellow fans constant bleating on this website is rapidly changing that. Did we have anything to do with the appointment of Lambert? No. I''m bored of hearing about it. If there is a fine, then NCFC will pay it and then move on. It''s a shame you cannot.

I didn''t catch either of the first two calls but it sounds like Deehan phoned Drivetime in response to the chairman phoning in earlier in the afternoon. Deehan claims that the chairman came into the dressing room, abused him (the ''worst he has ever experienced'') and sacked him. The chairman then honed back in to say that it was all rubbish and that he had had a civil conversation with Deehan outside the dressing room, but wouldn''t go into too much detail saying that he didn''t want to get drawn into a slagging match. He did say though that Deehan wasn''t sacked just because of last night but that there were quite a few issues with him.Lee Fowler then phoned in and pretty much slagged off the chairman and making him sound to be a right dick. Apparently the chairman had blamed last nights defeat on Fowler during a confrontation with him (after he had sacked Deehan). Deehan brought Fowler on as a sub last night when apparently he has been told not to play him. A midfielder was injured and they only had Fowler, 2 keepers and a 17 year old kid on the bench apparently, so Deehan brought Fowler on.All very bizarre.

It''s turned into a bit of a spat on Talksport.Firstly the Chairman phoned in, then Deehan, then the chairman again and then the player that was involved in the substitution.

Can Holt hit 40 goals+ this season?
claud replied to Syteanric's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Personally I think that his scoring rate will slow for two reasons.Firstly, teams will have him singled out as the dangerman. Whether this will open up opportunities for others remains to be seen.Secondly, teams will try to shut up shop against us. Since Colchester I get the impression that teams have believed that if they get at us we will crumple. Barring Carlisle this has been on the wane. The more our form continues, the more teams will be content just to try and shut us out. -

My apologies if that''s the case.A home tie would be great. We shouldn''t really be fearing anyone in the draw, but to get anyone at home would be an added bonus.
