  1. Can''t help but wonder what might''ve been if we hadn''t gone so hard at Arsenal in the Cup and instead picked up a couple of wins in that terrible run that followed. And my main worrying for next season is us finding a suitable replacement for Gunn, who has been sensational.
  2. Further to PC''s opening post, it''s worth noting the consultation agreement concerning ''major decisions'' extends to ''other supporter groups'' and not solely the Canaries Trust. All in all, it appears to be a good move for everyone involved. Fans want better links to the club''s decision-makers so that they can raise and debate topics that matter - surely this is a decent step towards achieving that?
  3. Southampton have scored more goals - 25% more, to be precise - than Burnley who are 7th in the League, Paul. In fact, Southampton have scored more than five teams who are outside the relegation zone. So I doubt their lack of finding the net is their main issue.
  4. The gap to the top 6 after our Boxing Day win was 11 points, which we''ve since reduced to 8points, climbing two places from 15th to 13th. If you want previous Championship tables, Van wink, go to our results on the BBC website. They have the relevant table alongside each match report.
  5. Brighton, Huddersfield & West Brom, although if Sturridge gets 8-10 goals in the next few months they should be safe.
  6. As others have stated, Oliveira''s commitment was there today but his decision-making is off. The desperation for a goal seems to be stopping him from passing to team-mates at times when they are better-placed to score. There''s a lot required of him in the system that Farke prefers, which includes setting others up. We can''t keep relying on a young lad in his first full season with us to keep scoring wonder goals.
  7. Just gone through the advertised adult ticket prices on the official site and found only two games this season that have been priced for casuals under the season ticket match average (Burton & the Christmas special, Brentford). 2017/18 season ticket match average: £21.72 2017/18 casual ticket average (first 16 games): £24.06* However, the gap between season and casual tickets seems to be narrowing. If that casual ticket average remains the same for the rest of the season, a season ticket holder would make a saving of £53.94 on Championship matches. *Doesn''t include the carriage and web fees, which most would incur.
  8. Some of us did have reservations about signing Naismith, Lessingham. It was a gamble which has catastrophically failed. He seems to have conducted himself well while at the club and has done lots with the youth teams, which is admirable, but the transfer will go down as one of the worst in the club''s history.
  9. And many were not, VW. Sounds like he''s done a lot with the youth teams while out, which is commendable, but his departure would free up a huge amount in wages that we could really do with.
  10. Jim Smith, how much, compared to other deals made for similar players to Pritchard, would be termed as ''good business''?
  11. Unless I''m mistaken, Paul, they weren''t at Dortmund at the same time. Farke replaced Wagner when he left for Huddersfield. Nor has there been any mention of Farke and Wagner as ''good friends''. Got any links showing that?
  12. What mate of Farke''s at Huddersfield would that be, Paul?
  13. Indy, it''s not the same question. It''s a legitimate route of enquiry, but the former was an accusation by Iron Stan that the owners have been profiteering from the club. If that''s the case, I''d like to know by how much.
  14. Out of interest Iron Stan, how much profit have the club''s owners made since taking over Norwich? And which transfers of British players, in similar positions and age to Pritchard, are you suggesting we''d be selling cheap in comparison to?
  15. Brentford are achieving a lot more than you''d expect a club of their size to, mainly because of excellent recruitment. New boy Emiliano Marcondes looks like another decent signing .
  16. Woodman, one simple way around needing to go long and having Murphy upfront would be to kick it even further than usual, over the top of the defensive line and allow Murphy to run on to it. Having this as a method of attack would prove effective against high pressing teams, and create extra space against those that sit deep by stretching the play. It worked well for Leicester in their title-winning season, and Pep Guardiola, who Farke models his own philosophy on, utilises the method at Man City. While many focus on Ederson''s ''fancy footwork'', it''s his kicking that is so impressive: long, hard and, most importantly, incredibly accurate. Here''s a thread with a bit more detail: https://twitter.com/David_Powderly/status/940319441103048704
  17. Genuinely no idea how you see his finish against Arsenal as ''a little awkward''. He stunts his run to draw the keeper out further, then dinks the ball in on the outside of his boot. And that''s not even mentioning the awareness to get back on side and in space for the initial run. You can watch it here, about 30 seconds in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfvSa_QoXiA
  18. Agree with Hogesar. The goals against Birmingham, Arsenal and Brentford demonstrate Murphy has the nous required in front of goal. Could he be better, sure, but that may well come with playing as a striker more often. He is, after all, our top goalscorer this season despite not playing a fully central role.
  19. There are a mere three players from the Championship to have been sold for the total touted by the OP. Jordan Pickford, with an impressive season in the Prem and still just 23, went to Everton for roughly £25m. Regular internationals Georginio Wijnaldum and Moussa Sissoko are the other two, also returning to the Premier League before kicking a Mitre ball in anger. By way of comparison, here are a few players of similar age and position to Maddison, and the rough price they went for: Oliver Burke £13m Jacob Murphy £12m Will Hughes £8m Lewis Cook £8m At a hunch, I reckon we''re more likely to see our strikers go this January than Maddison or Alex Pritchard. They will also be much harder to find replacements for.
  20. Irvine''s a reluctant manager who''s experienced pretty mixed results when in the role. He''s better suited to being a coach. His influence was evident in West Ham''s performance against City. While Moyes is pushing the players hard to increase their fitness, it''s Irvine who''s training them and going through the drills. They looked so much more organised yesterday than at most points this season and were unfortunate not to get a point.
  21. There''s some serious revisionism of Nelson''s importance to us going on by some because they don''t like his attitude. The bloke is our top-scorer in the league this season despite having played around half as many minutes as the other forwards and has the second-best goal to minute ratio in the Championship. If not for him and Maddison, we''d be languishing in the relegation zone currently. He will more than likely be picked up in January and the board need to make sure it is at a price that benefits us. Replacing him will not be easy.
  22. This thread has aged well. Be surprised if both Clarke and Glenn keep their FA roles following the parliamentary hearing yesterday: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sportsnews/article-4992964/FA-apologises-Eni-Aluko-Drew-Spence.html
  23. Steve Smith was a shocker too. Overall, we''ve been pretty fortunate when it comes to left-backs in recent years; Drury and Olsson were/are both excellent footballers. Even the likes of Tierney did a decent job at the level they were used.
  24. Yesterday''s clusterf**k of a match was neatly summed up by a guy trying to start a fight with a fellow Norwich fan after the latter told him to stop abusing Martin. Was only marginally worse than a bloke who, carrying his young daughter''s Hello Kitty bag, stopped at the top of the stairs shortly after the fourth goal went in, turned to the pitch to chuck some verbals at the defence and offer a wa*ker gesture with said child looking traumatised next to him. Utterly ridiculous.
