1. It sounds like both the youth ''keepers will be good. Norwich always seems to produce good keepers. Hoping Daley with prove to be worth his contract and this is a real make or break season for Smart, he didn''t set the world alight at MK Dons and I hope he is more than just quick, as the last thing we need is another winger who doesn''t produce a final ball (or is he a striker?).It will probably be some player we aren''t thinking about or even know, isn''t there some kid call Richardson who scored last night, maybe he will burst onto the scene. It''s about time someone made the step up.
2. The 2.6 million Norwich City Council are spend on the war memorial not enough for you??Hey, they money might get us Evans, maybe if we pinned a poppy to him and painted him grey we could convince the council he is a War Memorial and they can buy him for us
3. I think just because Rangers have signed Miller up it means he is going to become great, or even make it at all. As a much much richer club than us Rangers can afford to make more risks and have more youngsters on their books.I don''t think it is of much importance that Ricky Martin was never a full professional player, Arsen Wenger, Sven Goran-Eriksson and Jose Mourhino weren''t great players, Jose was never a player, but they are great coaches. I''m not claiming that Martin is of their level but the attitude that a good player will make a good coach just isn''t true.Roeder may not go to the games, but I should imagine he gets reports from the coaches about player progress and watches videos. I wouldn''t be surprised if he has left it until the summer to really get to grips with it all and look at who we have and how well they are doing. Maybe he or his staff felt Miller would never progress from his current level and was worth dropping now rather than spending even more money.
4. If Reading come down, then I think there is no chance of getting Pearce as they will probably sell off other defenders and move him into the first team. Same with Birmingham and Taylor. I think Roeder will pull a few surprises out of the hat this summer, there were probably a lot of other players he enquired about over Christmas and didn''t get which might be available come July.I doubt Bertrand will be back next year, which is a shame. Apparantly Frank Arnsen has labelled him the "new Ashley Cole" and wants him around next year, and as Arnsen makes all the transfer decisions it might be hard to get him, at least for a season. There might be a chance of getting Evans, but all depends on what Sven thinks of him over pre-season training, and of course if Sven is even there next year. I personally don''t think we should buy Evans, he will surely cost a bundle and we can''t splash all our cash on one striker who has played well for some games and disappeared in others. I think he will go on the become a class act, as he has the skill and mentaility but we need players who will be good from the first game of next season, or we are in for another relegation scrap.I should imagine there will be a new bunch of youngsters in on loan next season, some who will be great and some who won''t. Add in a few bosmans, a few European imports and one or two others and hopefully we will have a competitive team. Roeders success rate in the transfer market has been good so far in overall and I''m looking forward to seeing who is player at Carrow next year.
5. I''m not the biggest Hucks fan, but the main question over whether Norwich should offer him another contract is very heavily dependent on how much he wants in wages. He is surely the highest earner at the club at the moment, and do we want to pay an "impact player" that much each week, when we could potentially get two younger players for the same amount of money.I do think he offers us a good attacking option but he certainly isn''t irreplaceable, Dion on the other hand will be almost impossible to replace for next season.
6. Hucks: Really disappointed by his performance, he was at his "head down, run into a crowd of players" worst. Felt he slowed down our attacks to many times by taking a load of touches and was really selfish. It''s ok for him to hog the ball when he is racing past players and having shots, but he would hold onto the ball and get tackled, putting Bertand under a lot of pressure. Hope he is just laking a bit of sharpness. Oh, and his corners were pretty poor too.Pearce: Felt he looked really good. Played well in the air, soild in the tackle and read the game really well. Distribution was up and down, but he didn''t always hoof it up the pitch, which is encouraging. A worthy man of the match, in a game with no real stand out performances.Gibbs: Played well, not a great ball winner, but closed down well and look alright in the air. He passed well and help Norwich keep possesion when everyone else seemed to be passing to red shirts. Was hindered by a shocking Patterson who would give the ball away whenever he could. Would like to see him and Fozzy play the next game.It wasn''t a great performance yesterday, we looked streched with Croft and Hucks both playing very wide and Patterson having a shocker in the middle. There doesn''t seem much point having to wide players when we have nothing to cross to in the box, Dion would of done well Yesterday. Starting to worry about Evan''s form, he has games like Cardiff where he is magnificent, but hasn''t really done anything since. Sure he will pop up with a couple of goals soon though.
7. I agree that he looked a cut above, and the defence as a whole yesterday was fantastic. With Ryan, Semm and Pearce playing we have a pacy defence for the first time in god knows how long. I very much doubt we will get Ryan on anything other than a loan, speaking to some Chelsea fans I know it seems he is regarded as the new Ashley Cole (and I can see the similarities) and they want him at the club long term. He got some stick against Hull and people were saying he''s no left back, I think he proved that he is just as good at left back as he is in midfield. His only mistake against Barnsley was the fact he kept passing to Huckerby and should of just gone on himself.
8. Felt this wasn''t the right game for Gibbs. Hull closed down quickly and threw their weight around. After Gibbs made a rather reckless lundge a one player the ref had a word with him and he seemed to pull back from any other tackles. He has obvious ability, some of his touches in the first half screemed of class and he had one nice run with the ball. Some of the abuse was really over the top, also heard people blaming him for Bertrand''s mistakes, guess some people have difficulty telling people apart. He was obviously told to tuck in by Roeder, as with all the left "wingers" we have which I don''t think helped him as he often seemed unsure whether to take it out wide of not. Was a disappointing debut, but often the way with a youngster. Especially one who comes with so much promise and expectations. To be honest no one matched the quality of Okocha tonight.
9. Firstly, just because we didn''t spend any money, doesn''t mean there isn''t money to spend.Glenn mentioned how we wouldn''T regonise the squad when he has finished, and he seems on track for that. I think, when he said that he was talking about the summer aswell. There is little doubt amoungst Norwich fans that we really need to change a lot of players, the only player that I haven''t heard any critisms against is Marshall. Any large scale squad building is best done in the summer.  That is hard to argue against, look at a 2million Norris, or a 4million Reid to work out transfer fees are just stupid in January. No matter how much (or little) money there is, it is best spent in the summer.I think with the loans and our current players we will avoid relegation and the true building can start in the summer. The contiuned mentioning of players like Zamora and to some extent Ameobi do make me think so people are slightly out of touch of Norwich''s current situation. Although natural, many of us see Norwich as a much bigger club than it is. I''m 26 so can remember Norwich in Europe etc. But to most young players Norwich is a club that has always been in the lower league, apart from one valiant effort a couple of years back. I think players like Scunthorpe''s Patterson are more likely than the Ameobis of this world. Personally I think the money spent on off the pitch facilities isn''t as horrible as most people say. Things like hotels (which Holiday Inn actually payed most of the construction costs for) and resturants supply income all year round and will last longer than any player we buy, at only part of the cost. True they won''t score us any goals, but they sure as hell will pay the wages of someone who will. With Glenn in charge and all the facilities in place, we are in a great place to start rebuilding. The future''s bright, but I am a glass is half full kinda guy.
10. Players can have their medical done elsewhere and have the results faxed to the club. That is what happened with Earnshaw. A lot of players have their medicals at their existing club, on deadline day that is. Having said that I do think we are done for the day, although might have expected a statement from the club saying so........I''m pretty happy with the players we have got in, a striker would of been great. But it still isn''t worth getting substanded players in for the sake of it, we already have that in the likes of Martin. If we have an injury crisis we will just have to bring in the youth players. Could be good for the likes of Bally and co.I''ll keep one eye of SSN though, just in case,
11.
Incidentally, notice how many work permits have been granted today for players that are less qualified for one than that Bulgarian we "tried" for....?
Like who for example? I have only seen one non EU transfer go through, some Slovak from Bolton. And Brad Guzman the US Keeper'' had his work permit refused.
12. Taylor''s contract doesn''t expire this summer, it is next summer, or possilbly the summer after that. Not sure which. If he could leave on a free he would cost far, far less than 1million.
13. Recently saw the highlights of Posh''s goals last night on SSN. The 2 they conceded were pretty sloppy and Joe Lewis just looked lost. He seemed to miss two fairly basic interceptions. I think all this talk of him being a future England keeper is pretty far off the mark to be honest. But then who needs a good keeper when you score 8 goals? We have got 400k for a player who might of done absolutely nothing for us... wonder if Posh want Jarvis and Martin for 400k each.
14.
We cannot afford him and he would not want to come to us.   End of.
It''s a shame, but I think you are right. It seems a lot of clubs are having a look at him, and if whoever the new Newcastle manager is wants him out, I''m sure someone will have the money to buy him. As the window comes closer to ending, someone like Derby, Boro or Fulham will get desperate and sign him up on the hope he can keep them up (or in Derby''s case get them back up next year). I saw today that Jason Roberts is rated at 2million, so Ameobi must be around that, if not higher as he is at least a couple of years younger.Think there is little chance of a loan deal with so many clubs interested and willing to buy. In a perfect world we can get him on loan with an agreed price, but when did things go perfectly for Norwich in the transfer market last?. Oh well, fingers crossed.
15. There is a video on the Anglia TV site where Glenn explains about the Iliev thing, it is dated 11/01/08. If you watch it you will see why Iliev came and trained, work permit situations aren''t always black and white and what does it actually cost to have him train with us?He might get the caps he needs within the next year, and we now have the inside track, also when the movement of workers from Bulgaria is allowed he won''t need one. I feel this has been discussed over and over again. Work permits are annoying, but they are less dramatic than many other European leagues, in Italy teams can only sign one non-EU player a year, and in Spain only 5 are allowed in the squad.
16. Bally Smart at African Cup of Nations??I don''t think so. He is nowhere near the South Africa team, I don''t think he has played for South Africa at any youth levels either. His loan has expired and he is back in the reserves here.
17. I saw an interview with GR and he says he was told by someone outside the club (the agent I am guessing) that a work permit would be no problem. However, after Norwich carried out their own investigation, they were told it would be unlikely. Something about having to play in 9 of Bulgaria''s last 11 games (not including friendlies).I don''t think it would of cost Norwich a huge amount of money to have him on trail, but ultimately a shame we won''t be able to sign him. Norwich aren''t the only club to lose out to the work permit regulations, I remember Arsenal not being able to get a player a work permit a while back, and I doubt you could claim they don''t do their research.Oh well, nothing ventured nothing gained.

19. Well, if they have opened shops they are working and paying tax aren''t they?
20. Before January we were all calling out for the squad to be culled, and 2 names most often mentioned were Brellier and Dave Striker, so this is what everyone was asking for. The squad is 4 men lighter now, but none of these players were really close to the first team, Brown is the only player to feature more than once since GR turned up.Of course we would of wanted to get a fee for these players, but as they weren''t getting games that was always going to be difficult. And the 800k we have managed to get for Lewis and Brown is more than I would of expected to get for all those players put together to be honest.I am fairly sure replacments will come in, on loan or signings, but most of the transfer window activity always happens in the last week, clubs start to become more desperate to sell and fees will drop down a bit. All is not lost, keep the faith and stop moaning for the pure joy of it. Some fans will never be happy I guess.....
21. Work permit rules aren''t made by the FA, but are a Governmental regulation, so it doesn''t matter which club makes the application the rules are the same. A player must have played in 75% of his countries last internationals or be a "young player of exceptional ability", this is how Celtic recently got a work permit for Koki Mizuno.Due to Iliev''s age and lack of international apperances a work permit is unlikely. The club may still make an application and try to argue he is an "exceptional" talent, but that seems a difficult case to prove. Iilev needs to discover an EU grandparent. It''s a shame, I would of prefered him over Tiny, cheaper to buy, lower wages and maybe a little extra quality.
22. Actually with the Parma link we did send two players. It was a link up to help our goalkeepers and Danny Gay and Rob Green went. At least, I think it was Green, pretty sure Danny went though. True it didn''t lead to much, but was nice for the lads to have a holiday.
23. The sell on clause is on "any future profit" West Ham make on him, so if he sells for 7m, we will get nothing. Can''t see Ashton going that cheaply though, he is a big fan favourite and West Ham aren''t that short of cash.
24. I agree in principal...Russell is all running and little end product, I can''t fault his effort just the execution.I worry about Croft''s fitness, he rarely completes 90 mins, but his pace is frighten to other teams. Would worry about teams countering  against us though, as neither he or Huckerby like to track back. It might be a better formation for a home game.I think Smith is a good player and we are yet to see his best, but he isn''t a winger so it is hard to see him fitting into the team. We had a horrible lack of width at Col U. I could see what Roeder was thinking, squeeze the middle and stop Col playing, crosses aren''t much use when you have Jamie and Evans up front.  Would like to see Dion up front with Evans, seems the logical option with Jamie lacking so much confidence. Can''t say I am looking forward to the game tomorrow, a real tough game, and one so vital to get a result in. Nail biting stuff!!
25. I don''t think Newcastle will let us re-new the loan on Pattison, knowing he can leave on a free at the end of the loan. They will want to get some money for him and know we can''t wait til the summer. It''s really hard to predict the price of players, especially in the transfer window, when people are getting a bit desperate. I guess it will come down to who is more desperate, us to sign him or Newcastle to offload him.If it does come to getting him in the summer, although Pattison is under 24, we probably won''t have to pay compensation for him. Compensation is only payable if the players current club offer a contract to the player, which is equal to their existing one. Highly unlikely it seems.
