1.   It is saying £1m for Lambert, I reckon will be double that if Villa are taking Cully and Karsa as well though.    As said above, Rodgers had not long ago signed a new three-year deal so that had to be paid out, while Lambert is only on a one-year rolling contract, good that it means he couldn''t just run it down, but also still limited our demands for compensation.
 2.   Surely I am not alone in thinking we will be moving very quickly to get in a replacement for Lambert?  Interesting read from Waghorn:   http://norwichcity.myfootballwriter.com/2012/05/31/tonight-and-plan-b-will-already-be-in-motion-as-the-canary-nation-wakes-up-to-a-new-dawn-minus-paul-lambert/   McNally being quoted as saying a Plan B is there, he was well aware this was likely to happen and as well as negotiating compensation from Villa we will already be making moves on the new manager.   As they say the King is dead, long live the King!!!
 3.   There is a twofold reason to  keeping Culverhouse here in my view:   1.   He seems a popular member of staff who knows the players, the setup and the vision of the club already, thereby not causing too much upheaval at the start of an important transfer window.   2.  Just to see how Lambert copes on his own without his no. 2.  Is it wrong for me to thank him for everything he has done but still love to see him crash and burn at Villa?
 4.   Exactly what do you need to know?  In essence its a fractional system whereby the first figure is what you will win if you place the second figure on your bet, i.e. 3/1 you bet £1 you win £3 (plus your stake money making it £4 returns).   Managers markets are very volatile as there is not normally a lot of money involved, so any big punt from someone who believes a ''rumour'' from someone ''in the know''  can cause large changes in the market.
 5.
culverhouse - by a country mile. dont upset the apple cart anymore than it needs to be, maybe bring in someone with a different skill set as assistant maybe martinez might be worth a punt but god please not bruce, mccarthy, clark, hughton and especially not curbishley
I dont think Culverhouse will still be here.  Him, Lambert and Karsa seem to be a bit of a team and coaching teams like this tend to stick together.  I''m sure Villa are trying to negotiate compensation for all three of them, which should give us a fighting fund to go after the manager McNally targets.
 6.   Pep Guardiola?   It does say who i want, not who we can realistically get
 7.

Am I missing something here? Didnt Lambert sign a new 1 year rolling contract last May? Which would expire 2moro thus leaving him not contracted to NCFC anymore?
The clue about a rolling contract is the word rolling.
lol
 8.   To everyone saying McNally should just reject the approach, hopefully the working relationship between the two is so strong they will have a conversation and Lambert will confirm his intentions one way or another, so the club can deal with it and prepare the best the can this summer.   I think as NCFC fans that is the most we can ask for.  The last thing we need is a protracted battle over Lambert, because if we wants to leave he will at the end of the day no matter what.
 9.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/may/19/ole-gunnar-solskjaer-aston-villa   Certainly doesnt sound like he has turned them down here, cannot believe the Chairman has thrown his toys out of the pram in such a manner though!  Unbelievable Jeff!!!!
I would guess that''s the Chairman of the sponsor, not the club (one would hope)?!
If it was the Chairman of the sponsor he could not just withdraw funding like that, unless contracts in Norway are a lot different than here?

 11.
Agent
Well yes but someone must have had a generous word in the agent''s shell-like for him to advise Holt to carry out such a manouevre.
 12.
Indeed. Something of the official site would be in order, calm the hysteria a bit.
I assume someone somewhere is working on an official statement of some kind?
 13.   From where I am sitting his head has definitely been turned by something or someone
 14.   If it is the case that he just wants to move back north then it couldve been handled a lot better and with more dignity thus far.  This would also limit our demands re. fee as he will only want to go to certain clubs in a certain area.   I am still holding judgment until I hear the full story, I just feel this has clearly been leaked out at Holt''s end, not the club, and do not like the way this has occurred.
 15.
Just on Brendan Rogers, is it only me that thinks he is highly over-rated? People seem to forget that much of the team and definately the tactics and ethos at Swansea were established by Martinez! He has just picked up on it and ran with it. A few times this season (including against us) he has proved his inability to change things about! He probably turned down the chance to talk to Liverpool because he knows he couldn''t do the job!!! [;)]
I do agree to a certain extent.  I feel Swansea are a team under threat of being ''found out'' and struggling in the second season as much, if not more, than us.
 16.

Without wanting to be a pessimistic bar steward, When did Liverpool say they dont want Lambert, I thought only today Rodgers was approached for talks and if they want to talk to both Martinez and Rodgers how can you say so confidently they dont have Lambert on their list of possibles. OGS has flown over for talks with Villa, the media have made a song and dance over this information, what makes you think that Villa wont also want to speak to more than one canditate for their position, or even that OGS is the second to be interviewed having already held discussions with Lambert. Are most successfull applicants not interviewed twice? If Lambert ends up at Villa, nothing that has happened so far would be anything other than i would of expected, i.e. a few approaches made so say 4-5 managers, first round of interviews, second round and then decision, some of the names made public, some not.
Liverpool have said that they will approach ''up to 12 candidates'' for their vacancy. So far we know Martinez has been given permission to talk to them and Rodgers has declined to do so. I''d originally assumed that Lambert would be considered too inexpericed at the top level but if Martinez and Rodgers are on the short list I''d guess that Lambert will be approached at some stage. Whether or not he''s interested in chucking his hat into the ring in such a public manner is another matter. Seems a very strange way of doing things. Any manager that does what Martinez has done is going to look very stupid and lose a lot of face with their current teams supporters if they don''t end up getting it.
Its ok for Martinez, Wigan dont have enough supporters to worry about lol
 17.

Who cares? As long as Kenny''s replacement is from a club who are unlikely to poach Lambert, it''s fine with me. [:D]
Indeed. The more time goes on the more I think PL will be here for the start of next season at least. I don''t think any of the clubs who are currently managerless would suit him with his limited experience in the top flight, except Everton maybe. I think Celtic might be his next move if Lennon was removed..... so let''s just hope they carry on doing well.
Is this despite the amount of times Lambert has specifically said he has no interest in managing in Scotland?
 18.
That''s it then, even if OGS is a no go - can''t see Lambert wanting to go anywhere when he''s only their 2nd choice Happy Days
That was my thoughts on the matter, also if Villa are making such a song and dance about him flying over for talks there must have been pretty encouraging preliminary talks with Solskaer.
 19.

The thing that is frustrating me (and I am sure everybody else) is the silence coming out of the club about Sir Paul. Why can''t we get on the front foot and offer him a contract for 2,3,4,5 years and lock him in. That would ease everybody''s tension and allow us to move forward. I just can''t understand why we are not doing that. All we have had is McNally saying we are going to fight to keep him, well let''s get him off these "rolling contracts" and sign him up, he deserves the pay day and the commitment from the club.
A rolling contract does not mean lack of commitment from the club, and a 3 year rolling contract is more of a commitment than a 3 year contract, as one runs down and the other does not.
Spot on there Mr Moy, there does seem to be a distinct lack of understanding towards rolling contracts at times on this message board.    If we take as given that one day Lambert is going to leave for another club, and the club is not going to sack him, a rolling contract is perfect for the club as it optimises how much compensation we will be able to obtain from Lambert''s next club, be it Liverpool, Man Utd or Barcelona!
 20.

Brendan Rodgers has turned down an approach from Liverpool.   A little worried now. If they have Martinez and Rodgers on their shortlist then I''d bet my house on Lambert being on there too.   Guess we''ll find out today.
Clever move by Rodgers, he knows that he is very unlikely to get the job and it is a little unseemly for all these managers to trapse off to Anfield vying for a job. Would also get him in trouble with the Swansea fans and board if he appeared to be looking for a move.   I would imagine Lambert would say the same to be honest, but not 100% confident on that.   Someone like AVB or Luis Enrique will probably end up with the job and all those who went for interviews will look a little silly.
It is a strange way for a big club to deal with recruitment.  Am not sure the likes of AVB or anyone with a decent pedigree will be interested in taking part, especially (as BYG states) most managers with current jobs that would not want to burn bridges at their current club with no guarantee of getting the post.  Of course Martinez has nothing to lose as Wigan doesnt have any fans to upset lol.
 21.
How about........Lambert to Wigan! Could be his only option if he doesn''t nail his colours to a yellow and green mast soon.
So what we are going to sack him for having the temerity to not pander to the most paranoid section of our fans that require constant reassurances that he is commited to the club?
 22.   Certainly thinks a lot of himself doesnt he?
 23.   http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/may/16/kenny-dalglish-liverpool-sacking-contenders   Article in the Guardian talking about Dalglish''s possible successor, but interesting section on Lambert, including   "has already been widely linked with the vacancy at Aston Villa but is not thought to be interested in taking over at the Midlands club"
 24.

Don''t tell me that Holt gets better supply lol!
Well that''s pretty much what this joker from the Guardian seems to believe http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2012/may/09/andy-carroll-england
I think it just goes to show how much of Holt that author has seen when he states that Carroll is better than Holt with the ball on the floor?  He obviously only considers Holt to be an old-fashioned battering ram who cannot control the ball on the ground, which of course is clueless.
