  3. Not at all. Anyone can express an opinion. It's just a little humility and a basic recognition that managers understand the nuances of the game more than the vast majority of casual viewers/posters wouldn't go amiss.
  4. There is an almost breathtaking arrogance of some on here to presume that they have greater tactical knowledge and awareness than Farke. Or indeed Guardiola!
  5. The trouble is that you see games like WHU (a) and Burnley (a) and some supporters will class those as winnable games, when the reality is that they are incredibly difficult games away from home against sides far more established and with far greater resources than us at the moment. A draw in either game would have been a fine result. We have so many injuries at the moment than some of the 'plan b' options simply aren't available as compared to last season when we would go to a wing back system and use Onel and Max as wing backs and stick Rhodes on with Pukki. We have so few defensive options that Amadou is playing in a position where he is less experienced and Godfrey is carrying an injury. Byram is just learning his way. With the problems we have at the moment, and undoubtedly the hardest first six fixtures of any side in the league, to have 6 points at this stage is a fine achievement. Cut the manager some slack maybe.
  6. They are best forgotten and not really worth starting threads for on this forum. They are going to win more often than not this season in what is a pretty dreadful league but just content yourselves that they are a world away from what we have become - a Premier League club with a brilliant, progressive manager playing incredible football, a squad full of young, talented and high value players, owning our own stadium and selling out our ground every week. Whatever they do this season, there is now a chasm between the quality of the two clubs both on and off the pitch. Getting out of league one won't change that. It could be a decade before we play them again.
  7. There's no getting away from the fact that this season is going to be unbelievably difficult. There's every chance that we will get tonked tonight and I have little doubt that we will be on the receiving end of several heavy defeats during the course of the season, and periods of 3 or 4 defeats in a row. If fans aren't realistic about that then the expectations will be too high and that is always a dangerous thing. But we've given ourselves the best chance to be successful by rewarding and retaining the players who got us up last year and adding bits and pieces of quality. What the pundits don't recognise is that we were streets ahead of Aston Villa last season and ahead of Sheffield Utd too. Villa have had to spend a fortune to try to catch up. We already had the quality in the door - we have £130m in talent in Buendia, Aarons, Godfrey, Lewis and Pukki but we were clever enough to sign them or develop them cheaply. Whatever happens this season, the club is now in good hands and has built a basis to be a top championship club and/or established PL club in the years to come.
  8. The PL is an incredibly difficult, unforgiving league. We will need to keep our top players (Pukki, Aarons, Lewis, Godfrey, Buendia) fit for most of the season and need things to go our way to have a chance of staying up. What I would say is that I firmly believe we have done all of the right things to give us the best chance to survive. I've come to the view that for us, trying to sign 'proven' players isn't the optimum method for success. When we do that, we generally are signing players who are taking a step down to join us and that is never a great place psychologically for the player to be. We should use our financial resources to invest in our young players and create a conveyor belt of talent, as we've already started to do now. What I do know is that, if we do go down, I firmly believe that we have built the conditions for us to be a club firmly planted at the top end of the Championship and in the coming years we will establish ourselves in the PL, even if we have to go down and come back to do it.
  9. Hi all, My ticket is available for the Chelsea home game, lower Barclay block C. If you'd like it then text me on 07789 793865. First come first served. Cheers Beefy.
  10. Since there's a similar video of Farke himself singing, I would say he isn't that fussed!
  11. I don't think Cantwell has been great in these two games but he's not played much for months so it was a tough ask and I admire Farke's trust in our young players so much - if it wasn't for his attitude Pinto would still be at right back. Mario arguably could take his place but ultimately it's another decent point against a Wigan side who I thought played well and have been hard to beat at home. That's 26pts from 30 so I'm not sure how 'blowing it' is in any way justified. We are now on the cusp of promotion - 1 win from 4 means Sheff Utd have to win all 4 games to catch us. 2 wins from 4 and they can't catch us. What an unbelievable position we're in.
  12. Well if that was coded respect it would take Bletchley Park to break it.
  13. The reason why Lambert has, on the whole, been poorly received upon his returns to FCR is down to his behaviour upon his return. If I recall, his first return was the 4-1 League Cup QF defeat in which he was overly animated on the touchline. In what was a clear 'show' for the benefit of our board, I remember with 5 minutes to go Lambert high fiving every single person in the Villa dugout. That was the moment where I lost respect because he was clearly overegging the win to wind up the board/the fans. If he had shown respect to the fans on his return he would always have got a good reception but he chose not to. It probably didn't help that he kept coming to FCR and winning either. In fact, when he went to Wolves and they came here and lost, 3-1 I think to an Alex Neil side, I quite clearly remember after he was walking back from the away fans across the pitch that there was polite applause from the Barclay, which he acknowledged with a wave. He conveniently ignores that in his recent interviews on the subject which is again disappointing. I think most of us would have liked to have given him a great reception for what he did here but unfortunately his behaviour has tainted the relationship with the fans. His move to 1p5wich is the last straw toward any reconciliation.
  14. If we don''t go up this year you suspect with his wages it would be difficult to get him to sign a new deal. He''s been outstanding so far this season, I felt our early season patchy form was partly because Hanley wasn''t fully fit and since The Zimm has come in we''ve looked very solid indeed.
  15. Don''t forget the 2 minutes they spent in the corner celebrating their goal.
  16. Taking about 75 points as the benchmark then we would need 32 from the last 16 games, exactly 2 points per game. That is a pretty tough ask. Breaking it down we are looking at a record required of something like 10 wins, 2 draws and 4 defeats. That isn''t impossible by any means. However, the issue is that when we concede the first goal we very rarely win, and like or not that is going to happen sometimes despite our defensive resolve. The positive is that when we score first our record is excellent. In my view the key is going be finding 2 or 3 come from behind wins where we score 2 or 3 goals and this squad has yet to really show that they are capable of that. I''m really hoping that the new signings can help provide that cutting edge to get us back into games when the chips are down. OTBC.
  17. My feeling is that there are two separate issues. Firstly, Russell Martin has been a model professional at this club. He''s always been one of the first names on the team sheet for every manager, he gives it his all and has been honest in all his press work. However, the second issue is his ability as a player, and over the last two seasons he appears to be struggling increasingly. He isn''t as a good a full back as Pinto which has shunted him into the centre. Our ability to defend the aerial ball has been a major problem all season, and Russell''s lack of aerial prowess has been a big factor in that, IMHO. A good servant to the club but it''s far past time that he wasn''t first choice in our defence.
  18. Whether Alex Neil had to do a press conference or not is totally irrelevant. In a week''s time no one will care about the manner of his departure. All that matters is that the right decision was made. It''s now time for the fans to start rallying around the club and act like supporters.
  19. I have to say until a few years ago I was fairly ignorant of 1p5wich''s history, and I had assumed that they were consistently successful over a long period they way that they refer to it. When I realised that they had simply won 3 trophies, and were far from a Man Utd or Liverpool, I found it a bit laughable the way they bang on about their glorious history. Let''s make no bones about it, they have a more successful history in terms of trophies won and the prestige of their trophies, but they have hardly been heavyweights of the game in this country. We''ve won the major trophy more recently and the majority of their fans who like to talk about their glorious past weren''t even born when it happened. They are a nothing club with no realistic chance of ever progressing back to the Premier League. They rent their ground, have £100m of debt and their best players are loanees. Talk about tin pot. All they have left this season is the derby.
  20. I reckon it will be Ruddy Pinto Martin Klose Dijks Wildschut Howson Tettey Josh Wes Jerome
  21. I suspect Tettey and Jerome will come in for Mulumbu and Nelson. I also very much doubt Wes or Pritchard will play wide left as Wes did on Saturday. A fair chance in my view that Wes will play behind Jerome and Wildschut will start, though wouldn''t rule out Nelson keeping his place.
  22. ...in lower Barclay PM me or text 07789 793865
  23. there is one on the stream2watch website, it has some dodgy pop ups though so make sure that you close down any extra windows that open and don''t download anything.
