1.
Malcolm Robertson''s appreciation of him on www.myfootballwriter.com suggests he was a flair player that was the missing piece in the jigsaw in Saunders'' well-organised, committed side. From what I''ve read, he sounds like the Huckerby of the 70s, coming in to add the x-factor to a team of honest pros (for Flem and Malky, read Stringer and Forbes)? Is that a fair assessment? I never saw him play.
Sort of. He wasn''t a dribbler like Huckerby, but we was much stronger and tougher. Wouldn''t get knocked off the ball easily, or go to ground like Huckerby, and he was much better in the air. Better defensively too.
 2. Connolly would be a superb signing. Super sharp brain, two footed, very good passer of the ball, also good at keeping the ball and bringing others in to play, and most importantly he knows where the goal is.
 3.

I thought he had only made 7 appearances for West Ham John, from what I remember of him at Southampton he has got a hell of a shot on him and is very good at breaking up play and setting an attack in motion. I think he is a very good player at championship level but maybe not quite good enough for the prem.
West Ham thought he was. Didn''t they pay £1.5m for him ?
Yep. Be very lucky to get half of that back I''d imagine.
 4.
Maybe not for west ham, but isn''t that the point?  Isn''t this thread for Norwich fans giving a Norwich perspective on the death of a former Norwich player in response to a question asked by a Norwich fan?
His goal ratio for West Ham was better than it was for Norwich, so no that isn''t the point.WHU or Norwich is surely irrelevant. We are all mourning the loss of a superb player and a superb human being.
 5.
A forceful, stylish and driving left midfield player with a great shot. Cannot think of a modern day player but he was worth 10 goals a year plus. I was at Highbury when he scored a hatrick against Arsenal in the League Cup. Also a very nice bloke as I had the opportunity to meet him a few times sociallly. Budgie will be sadly missed.
There''s no need to go OTT. He was a great player and will be sorely missed but he wasn''t ''worth 10 goals a year plus''

However, not sure why there''s posts talking about Quashie solving your creativity problems? He does the hard work, the chasing, harrying, tackling, dirty work. He won''t offer much going forward.
Has to offer more attacking wise than Brellier or Russell are at the moment.  Quashie can actually pass a ball as well I think?
Within a 10 yard radius? Yes.Any further? Not a chance
We''d settle for 10 yds right now.............................Have you seen us play recently?
Live? Not since the Cup match at Carrow Road. Ironic considering it was your ''crap'' keeper that gifted us a goal...!
