1. Heres a quote from another thread regarding Chris Martin. "Martin was fantastic when he burst on to the scene last year. However

as soon as he got his contract he became a different player....lazy and

seemed uninterested.  Great talent but i think he needs to sort his

head out and show that he wants to play for us."This is very true,  but could Ched Evans do the same, hes desperate to play football so he makes an impression on the pitch,  but if we sign him permanent, will he become another Chris Martin?? As for Cureton,  we all know how good he has become sinse he was a city player last.  but how do we analyze last season at Colchester? beside Iwelomu supplying him with the means to score, what else was there for him that inspired him to be the Championships top scorer?? and what can Roeder and the Norwich team do to bring that for him?  and also what does Cureton have to do to find the back of the net again. every top striker goes through this in their career.  Michael Owen has, Crouchy at Liverpool,(although no one can explain his cup goals and international success) even the great Shearer did. all we can do as supporters is to shout his name and inspire him to score us the goals

  2.
"The standard of the match was more Premier League than Championship — and the crowd loved it.

Cureton somehow put the ball over the Plymouth bar from six yards out, but Huckerby, who always looked dangerous in a roving role, made the game safe for Norwich from an 87th-minute penalty."

That''s quite a big compliment to both teams from a National reporter! Anybody who was there agree?
you wanna see prem standard football,  then watch the big 4 go head to head in 10 days time on sky sports. Man utd, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool. Although our game is a huge improvement, it is far from prem standard. and until we can afford to pay 50k a week at least for players it never will be. theres no doubt that we will push for the prem in maybe 2-3 years time and hopefully stay there.  maybe then we can say we are premiership.  and i would love to see us do man utd 2-0 again. that was fantastic.

  3.
We certainly were not playing a 4-3-3 last night - it was a clear 4-4-2 and our midfield was second best,  which was why the back 4 had to end up playing stupid balls between themselves or simply hoicking the ball out or long.
heres your starting line up and formation for the game.                                      Marshall          Otsemobor   Doherty   Taylor   Camara                Fotherinham  Russell   Pattison                   Huckerby  Evans  Cureton    This is how they played the first 45. at times huck and cureton dropped into midfield making a 4-5-1 and times when hucks dropped back and made the 4-4-2 and if anyone spotted the tell tale switcheroo. Hucks and Pattison switching sides.  All in all this wasnt comfortable for the team.  the current team are so used to a 4-4-2 and still need training ground work to perfect this 4-3-3 attacking formation.  now this line up and formations were talked about by Roy Waller on Radio norfolk before the match when the team was announced. most of the guys around me in the stands were stunned by this set up but knew we played similar against stoke.

  4.
Its come to my attention that Tottenham Hotspur has had their appeal thrown out against the red card that Robbie Keane recieved in the game against Birmingham City on Sunday.  I saw the incident and that was in no way a red card offence,  what makes this worse it the fact that the referee at the game, Phil Dowd, consulted the 4th official(Uriah Rennie) on the decision and was told to issue the red card.  Uriah Rennie has only passed his fitness test to officiate in the prem 2 weeks ago and has not been seen on the pitch at all this season. The rules were cleared up later that day on Sky sports by Richard Keys and Andy Grey.  the rules state that a 4th official should not get involved in any decisions on the pitch unless the Referee and his assistants(linesmen) did not see the offence in question,  The Keane incident was seen from 3 yards away by the ref, It was also shown on the same programme that Phil dowd also made a similar decision in a coventry match a week or so earlier. he cosulted the 4th official and was told to issue the red card for an elbow.  the replays showed no elbow or was unintentional in the arial challenge for the ball.  After the Spurs match the Referees association issued a statement saying that Dowd did not consult the 4th official.  but the TV pictures clearly show him doing this. isnt this a clear breach of the rules????The appeal was dismissed by the FA today and keene will miss the next 3 matches for nothing. Also the Brum player got up and apologised to keene and they shook hands. he thought he was to blame for the  50/50 tackle. the ball clearly changed direction off Keenes foot. IS this the state of referees today?  is this what football is about?  Does football have to rely on the poor judgement of a man with a whistle to decide the fate of a game? Phil Dowd clearly gifted Birmingham the win on sunday by reducing a far better and far stronger Spurs side to 10 men. The burning issue is that when Premiership quality referees make a complete mess of things in a match then they are sent to the Championship as punishment.  WHY? is this fair on the likes of our team Norwich City and the rest of this league to have sub standard officials demoted to our league. its a disgrace and and some needs to be done about the referees these days. not even Specsavers can svae the linesmen and there poor vision.. Shockin,  Another poor referee that should be thrown to the pub leagues.
This has been posted on the Spurs website regarding the decision.

John Alexander, the Club Secretary, has responded to the FA decision to uphold Robbie Keane''s three match ban.

"The Club has backed Robbie 100 per cent with his appeal and we are disappointed with the verdict.

    "The

justification for upholding the referee''s decision makes no sense to

us, and if Robbie had been given an opportunity to attend - the current

rules do not give him any opportunity to attend at the hearing of his

appeal - we believe that the verdict would have been different.

    "It

is frustrating for Robbie that he is now forced to miss three games

whilst players who committed similar, or in many cases, worse, tackles

at the weekend are free to play.

"We shall be writing to the FA to express our concerns." I have to agree at how true this is. and agree that there are far worse and purposfull tackles in the game that go unpunished.  Again can anyone expalin why Robbie was not allowed at his own appeal? maybe theres a cover up and conspiracy to protect phil dowd and Uriah Rennie. in the consultaion, as they cover up this incident and blatent breach of the rules.Theres been a lot of talk over the years about technology being used in the beautiful game.  well lets follow Rugby and Mic up the refs to explain their silly decisions,  this may bring a balance and some consistency to the decisions they make. and the games they cost clubs through silly rash and im gonna book you attitudes.   Goal line technology is also being discussed and even the Tv ref. they say that all these will interfere with the flow of the game.  well doesnt the referees do that now with needless whistle blowing and insistantly making sure the ball is moved and moved and moved again and again.

  5. i agree that the vocal supprt although is good, isnt what it could be or has been in the past.  think back to the time we won the championship. ok ok we had something to sing about.  but so what. Worthington was god and evryone loved him back then until it went wrong and so did the vocal support. I sit in the upper barclay over towards the away supprters end.  theres a group of guys up there that try and rouse a sing song or 2 but to no avail.  but when OTBC starts from the snake pit, it does filter across the barclay.  Can anyone remember the days when the Snakepit sang, Barclay give us a song, Barclay barclay give us a song, and the reply was snake pit give us a song etc etc,  the it was south stand. and back?  it was a sing out battle all match,  then every one gave the  away fans abuse. now thats vocal support.  can i also point out that there is a distinct lack of players names being sung at the games too.  it wasnt until Hucks took the pen that it started again, then cureton went off and he got a song and Dion came on.  we need more of that. heres another idea,  BRING BACK THE MEXICAN WAVES.  that was a damn good laugh.  lets lobby dave watson and gary stevens to put it over the mics to get one going with the rendition of OTBC before kick off.  and show the dirty northern b****rds what we are about,  hehehehe

  6. Yet another poor half time display.  2 guys trying to stick a ball through a hole barely big enough.  and OMG one of them did it. lmao.  even the guys with the Mic''s Dave Watson and Gary Stevens had nothing to say apart from the safety messages. and a few dedications. it sucks,  we need something and soon. cos its gonns get bloody cold in the barclay and we want entertainment other than the footy. hehe

For me the problem with Martin is in his own head;  too often he disappears;  as roeder has already publically stated the only person who can make you realise your potnetial is yourself;  Martin seems to think he is already there.

Ched is looking to impress and I hope his effort levels continue to be high - it may remind martin what he needs to do himself to make the most of his obvious talent.

Just hope Evans continues to shine - unlike Pattison who has disappeared a little over the last couple of games.
Im not comparing the 2 players as they stand now.  im say that Evans is the Chris martin we had last season, full of goals, effort, workrate and enthusiasm. you look at martin from last year and evans from now and they almost match up like for like.  give Martin the time and effort and he can be that player again

  8.
Out of interest Optimistic, who gave away our last penalty against QPR ( I think ), and looked an absolute liability during their 10 minute cameo tonight? And that quote about the striker role has to be a joke, right?I would prefer Taylor to Doc no doubt, but for pity''s sake he was by no means our worst player tonight. As for not being sure who to play the ball to - well who was he supposed to play it to exactly? None of the midfield seemed to want it, and when they did get it they either ran forward and played it in the wrong direction, or put the ball across the pitch only to be intercepted by a Plymouth player. How many decent balls did you see out of defence today, incidentally?
The reason there was no decent balls out of defense tonight was simple,  norwich did not suit the 4-3-3 formation,  absolutely no width, the doc has always been the weekest link in our defense. i will give him his dues, he has had the rare good game, and he does go up for the headers and win the ball. he does clear the ball into touch, but that it. theres nothing further to his game,  he was put on the back post for for the free kicks/corners tonight and never came close.  you criticise Taylor tonight?  maybe cos hes run ragged for the last 4 games he may be a little tired. Camara was solid again and Otsemobor was paced once more on the wing. it wasnt until Croft came on that the formation went 4-4-2 and then it evened out. with the wings coming into play. Taylor went off due to tiredness in my eyes,   we still need 100% on saturday against Sheff Utd before he goes back to brum. Face it Doherty is not up to the city standard either.  and we have been fantastic without him, but less impressive with him in the team.

  9. Theres a lot of talk now about the wonder kid Ched Evans after tonights game. Yes he scored a fantastic goal after 2 minutes to give us the lead but then spent the rest of the game scrapping for the long balls being punted up the field.  But i recall a similar thing happening last year.  a young person by the name of Chris Martin.  he came out of nowhere and started scoring goals, showing immense enthusiasm and urging the team forward. 18 years old, young and willing to get his boots dirty.  does any of this sound familiar.I think it is wrong that Chris Martin is shut out at the moment. maybe with the right amount of encouragement from roeder and his crew,  a bit of nurtureing from Dion and hucks and we can still have our very own Star in the making. Ched Evans or Chris Martin. very similar stories, you decide?

  10. The Doc as we put it is a complete waste of space,  the rule is  "If in doubt kick it out".  this is all well and goo and he is superb at doing this.  he is strong in the air cos he can use his head. its solid wood.   but the rest of his game is total crap.  other times he got the ball tonight he had no clue what to do with it and he was unsure where to play it. Why else was the spurs faithful so please to be shot of him. he was a very good player 6-7 years ago when he played as a striker.  but since he has be converted to defense and then sent here to carrow road he is a bloody liability,  he is far more responsible for free kicks, goals and pens than anyone else since he started playing here. i say hes only getting a few games so roeder can asses his value in the Jan sales so we can get a few quid for him.  good riddance.  sign up taylor instead.

  12. nothing is done on the taylor matter, Roeder wants him and hes made that clear.  who knows what is going on as we debate this issue,  we could be there tonight and its announced hes staying,  or even the sheff utd game on saturday,  but i think if he does return to brum,  then we are done for,  Doherty is a useless bag of crap and a bloody liability,  i still say he cost us against stoke when he filled in for Otsemobor.  we need taylor here and we need the board to know about it.  lets make that clear from the stands tonight against  Plymouth.  3-1 i say to city.

  13. Its a shame that half the defense isnt ours, Taylor, Camara.  and that these 2 make Shakells game a million times better cos he isnt covering the leaks from Doc and drury.  lets see if Roeder can secure these guys or similar to shore up the defense even tighter and let nothing through.  but please dont count out the callsy performances of Marshall in goal,  2 months player of the month, and a penalty save, and countless other saves too,  i back him for a third player of the month award and claim Novembers too.

First I’d like to say I’m very excited about tonight’s game and really FIRED Up about it.

FIRED UP brings me to my point.

We owe Plymouth big time and I want to see us FIRED UP and ready to put things right.

No matter how much of a realist or how much you don’t like hearing how poor we have been the fact is the Plymouth result last month was an utter embarrassment to all who work for and support Norwich City FC.

Yes I’ll agree Plymouth are a tidy side and hard to beat at their place but that performance was totally unacceptable. We were out played in every department and made to look a laughing stock.

NOW is the time to put it right and show us/me/everybody that the fight is back at Carrow road and the fight is back in Norwich City.

I want no; I expect to see every player to a man, out there giving a 110% tonight. I expect to see aggression; I expect to see bodies being thrown in front of shots. I expect every player whether they played in the Plymouth game last month or not wanting to put things right tonight because I expect them to ALL be totally ashamed of the team performance in our previous meeting.

As I said Plymouth are no mugs but they are no great sakes either.

Failure tonight for me at least is not an option. If we did fail I think I’d take a lot of convincing that we could ever get out of this mess. But that’s not going to happen

Go on boys make us proud and restore your own pride.

Let’s all be FIRED UP tonight and give the lads our vocal backing. And lets show everybody we’re not done yet.

    OTBC
Absolutely well said hardhouse,  i 100% agree with you and very well said,  i will be there tonight and On the ball city will blow the roof off the barclay, thats for sure.  Plymouth watch out,  the fans are out to show you what a support is about.

  15. so the hour is upon us,  will a drummer turn up at the game tonight or not.  either way we are in for a great match. ive predicted a good 4-1 win to city.  i would love to see someone in the lower barclay or snakepit with the drum giving it their all for the cause and rousing a roaring "on the ball city".  either way, sing it loud, sing it proud, and sing it for the green and yellow crowd.

  16. If you attend any games at Carrow Road then you will see that almost every one there DOES get behind Norwich City players.  especially the Barclay and Snake pit.  We have done this through thick and thin. ups and down. One of these days that roof is gonna come off.  anyone who boos the players or the club or its board are not football supporters and therefore are just out for any attention they can get.  ie: Smudger.  before you critisize the support, be part of the support like myself and 24000+ others who attend the games.  My hat goes off to the city fans who travel to away games,  My god have you heard them lately.  bloody fantastic.

  17.
Just heard on Five live that this has just happened, sad for them but with the points deduction, good news for us!
Its a sad day in the world of football when a club goes into administration or is about to.  It doesnt matter who they are its still bad news.  i hope someone does step in to resuce the club as they are a great club and considering a few years ago they were in the Prem just like Norwich.  Theres just not enough money in the Championship these day and they players demand to much money to play like muppets.  Long live Coventry City.
