1. He seemed to feature regularly enough during our ''run'' in Sept / Oct. He''s technically limited, I don''t think I''ve ever seen him put a decent cross in, but his speed, strength and direct running can unsettle defences and help push teams back - think about his role in Maddison''s winner at Ipswich. I would have thought a game like Burton, if we insisted on so many changes, would have been perfect for him. I cant help but think we''d have looked more balanced and dynamic with him starting in place of Vrancic or Hoolahan? I think on that basis it''s safe to say his days must be numbered under Farke. It''s a shame because I feel the side often lacks pace and power which he could provide, even if fleetingly.
2. This sounds good... Only we''re trying to consider what we might do in real life and not on your latest career save on ''Football Manager''...
1. Loan out or even sell Josh Murphy... Play more of Wildshudt. 2. Sell Naysmith, Martin and Franke and bring in 5m 3. Sign a top-class holding midfielder like Muhamed Bešić from Everton or Surman from Bournemouth... Probably sell Tettey to recoup funds. 4. Make a 5m bid for Chris Martin to secure him as derby have 5 strikers. Sell Jerome for 3m 5. Try to sign a wildcard striker with direct pace for 3m possibly from league 1 or the MLS. 6. Make a loan bid for Mamadou Sakho and Benik Afobe with loan fee of 1.5m and full wages paid for 6 months to see if we can bag someone of top top class striker... Bring back Carlton Morris if we dont.
3. This season is already shot with survival being the prime objective now, so... - Klose can go if there''s a taker, and with Franke already departing on loan too I''d suggest Raggett could be recalled from Lincoln. - If we can get rid of Naismith it''s nothing short of a very welcome miracle, although by all accounts after stealing a living here for 2 years he is looking at moving on to get game time - we can only hope! - No club are daft enough to consider looking at perennial sick note Matt Jarvis, so get him fit, wrap him up in cotton wool and try hard to shift him in the summer, reminding anyone who will listen that he has an England cap and clubs once paid £10m+ for him.
4. Someone always lets you out. It''s not exactly high risk.
5. I also do this regularly but have yet to receive a fine. I''ve missed several games this year though, so may have got lucky. Every so often there''s a copper (or two) sat by the entrance to prevent people using it as an exit - always considered it a waste of (supposedly valuable and limited) police resources. I guess if they''re booking people at least it''s bring in some revenue! What I don''t understand though is that from a traffic management perspective isn''t it preferable to have less vehicles heading towards the already nightmarish roundabout outside county hall after matches? A £50 fine only pays for six matchdays'' parking at County Hall!
6. I''m finding it a tricky one at present - I''m behind the change in structure because something needed to be done to ensure that we remained a viable entity, drastically cutting costs whilst attempting to be competitive in this league. It will need time to work, but obviously there are no guarantees that it will. However, as a season ticket holder I''m currently struggling to see many positives in how we play. At present it''s incredibly turgid and ponderous fayre and if there is a ''vision'' for how we hope to play we must be long long way from executing it successfully. I want to be patient on one hand, but on the other, going to games at Carrow Road is turning into a real chore right now - and if it''s still this way when season ticket renewal time comes around there''s a decision to be made.
7. When Mulumbu first signed on a free he looked like an astute piece of business, offering premier league experience and physicality in midfield. He started pre season well, and shone in a couple of friendlies... Then he got injured and missed the start of the season, the only Mulumbu we ever saw after that was, slow, laboured and looked pretty uninterested in proving he was anything other than a huge financial burden to the club. But then, I guess we''ll always have this... http://metro.co.uk/2015/07/20/youssouf-mulumbus-changing-faces-sum-up-norwich-citys-new-kits-5305084/
8. It would be awful to say I hope he''s unavailable all season... but we generally seem so much better when he''s nowhere near the team.
9. Considering this is his first taste of championship football in a side that is very much a new construct and has collectively struggled I think he''s done very well. Just consider how many different midfield line ups he''s featured in already. He''s obviously good on the ball and despite being slight he''s not easily knocked off it as you might think. Of course he will have better days than others, and although Saturday didn''t see him make a huge impact I thought his work rate was great and he made a few decent challenges too - he certainly wasn''t willing to be a passenger.
10. I think perhaps Webber / Farke realised that they couldn''t afford to lose an option like Tettey, a little bit of the midfield steel and championship nous he offers could be invaluable.
11. In reality we wont know how good or bad this window was until we are several months further into the season. We have brought in coaches and many players who are unfamiliar with championship and it will undoubtedly take time for them to adapt. Personally I think we needed to make wholesale changes as the squad had become stale and bloated with too many high earners to balance the books at this level. I cant say I''m sorry to see us lose any of the players who have left (Howson wanted out and Ruddy couldn''t be retained on his current contract), but I do still feel we are a little light with defensive midfield cover and striking options. Although Webber himself acknowledged it would take 2 or 3 windows for the squad to shape up properly. I don''t agree that this is a huge gamble, quite the opposite. We''re attempting to work to a sustainable model for the club regardless of what level we find ourselves at. Yes, it may give us a longer shot at promotion in the short term, but a real gamble would have been to retain the high earners, spend more on high profile players and risk financial ruin were we not to be promoted this season (although of course that''s the only thing that would have made many fans happy!). One thing is for sure, we''ve certainly been given the huge change many of us demanded, as fans we just have to hope and pray that it begins to come together sometime soon!
12. Definitely heard a Christophe Zimmerman chant a few times. DU DU, DU DU DU DU ... Christophe Zimmerman! Simple but effective I thought. (original song is a recent(ish) dance track... Kungs vs Cookin’ on 3 Burners - This Girl)
13. Was busy typing a reply, but basically... what ZLF said. Especially regarding Husband. I didn''t think Wildschut looked totally lost though and did ok considering he was playing in what was until recently a very unfamiliar role for him against decent opposition. I cant see him being considered as anything other than an emergency/cover option at wing back though.
14. I remember when BT first entered the fray it was said that the competition they would offer Sky would see subscription prices tumble... Back then Sky had pretty much all football packages available with other bits being held with ITV (Champions League) and Channel 5 (Europa League). Now there is pretty much no football available on terrestrial TV (a share of FA Cup games only) and if you''re an armchair fan you need both packages if you want the best of the domestic and European football, so is effectively more expensive for the consumer. People will continually find ways to access illegal streams if this is the case and that''s not taking into account the 3pm kick offs which will remain highly in demand as no domestic provider can supply them. This will run indefinitely and the only way I see around it is if the Satellite providers start providing games on a Pay Per View basis at sensible prices, including those at 3pm Saturday... and that''s a long, long way off.
15. I agree with Bethnal in so far as safe standing and drinking in the stands are key reasons for the better atmosphere in many German grounds. Seeing as both are illegal in the UK perhaps a Fan Zone before selected games would be a good compromise. It''s something I''ve thought about recently and then heard mooted by @AlongComeNodge (great Twitter NCFC fan feed if anyone''s interested). It could easily be installed behind the South Stand at the expense of some parking and would probably only appear for selected matches. But a covered where fans could congregate, drink (sold by the club) start chants, sing (perhaps watch archive footage on screens or roll out a few city legends) would hopefully generate a buzz which would be carried into the ground. I know the club want fans in the ground early but I cant think of ANYTHING that would entice me out of a decent pub much before kick off. At least this way the club would be in control of the setting and hopefully even make a few quid. Just an idea but it''s something I think would help with the atmosphere if organised properly.
16. Some things transcend football rivalries... And I think that backing a charity that supports children with life threatening illnesses is most certainly one of those things. I hope EACH benefit from the arrangement, and if the football club receive some goodwill on the back of it then it''s nothing but deserved.
17. Jarvis isn''t involved... because he''s out injured until 2019.
18. Before we get too hysterical about continued defensive frailties I think it''s worth remembering we were experimenting with a back 3 last night, and 2 of those 3 are unlikely to be starting come August 5th. Also we only used our 2nd and 3rd choice goalkeepers. Whereas the forward line had a first team look about it, the back line didn''t.
19. Having had a very quick peruse on twitter the response from Middlesbrough fans mainly seems to be that he''s a decent player but a victim of George Friend''s success (and consistent fitness), meaning he was never able to get a chance to prove himself in their side. Hopefully looks like a tidy and sensible (if unspectacular) piece of business.
20. Two home games against Sunderland and QPR moved to accommodate Sunderland''s Thursday night game in the Carabao Cup. A game for which they''ll probably put a reserve side out anyway. I''m sorry but that is an utter farce, showing nothing but contempt for supporters.
21. This strikes me as a risk-free signing. Farke is bringing in a player he knows has a great attitude, is intelligent, and has the physique for English football. If he can make the step up and compete for a first team place then that''s great. If not, then we have lost very little.
22. I''m sure Stuart Webber is doing everything in his power to move Naismith on. If he''s still here come next season it will only be because we literally can''t give him away. Unfortunately what Naismith offers the team doesn''t come close to what he costs the club. He''s been a huge disappointment.
23. Firstly, this article appears to be the club leaning on Archant to circulate his availability in what is a bit of a non-story seeing as Howson has two years to run on his current deal. Given the restructuring required I guess we''re looking to cash in on him before he hits 30 and before his stock falls too much. I have really mixed feelings... I like Howson, he appears a model pro, but I think he struggles to fit into the modern style of play whereby central midfielders tend to be either creative and attacking OR defensive with an aim to break up play. He doesn''t fit into either category and is more of an old fashioned box to box midfielder you''d find in a 442 set up. Games do sometimes appear to pass him by, but we sometimes miss his composure and industry when he''s not in the side. All in all I guess it''s a case of how we''ll set up in the future. My guess is he''d probably be replaced by a holding/defensive player who would help accommodate Pritchard / Maddison.
24. To be fair I''d say we are already pretty well stocked with players that play behind a main striker... Pritchard, Hoolahan, Maddison I''d personally be looking to offload him and strengthen elsewhere as a priority.
25.
Now there''s a challenge - care to name some? Bear in mind that they will need to be: a) an established international, b) have spent the vast majority of their career in the top division of their country, and of course, c) be willing to come to NCFC in the Championship on the ''pittance'' of £30k a week.
Naismith''s potential replacement needs to offer more to us at this point than he currently does, at a lower expenditure for the club. I can''t see what difference having been a bit-part player for ''top league'' side or regular for a very poor international side has to do with it whatsoever
