1. This is very disappointing news that the board have been unable to reach somes ort of agreement with Peter Cullum. I can completely understand how the majority of posters on this forum are reacting to this news but in my humble opinion we need to have more information from the club as to why they feel it is in the best interests to refuse this offer which had the potential to dramatically change Norwich City FC''s status in the game. Delia has been at the helm for 12 years and she has obviously over those years become well and truly attatched in her position as the major shareholder. If the decision to withdraw from discussions is not a very worthwhile one then she will have a hard, in fact near impossible job to convince fans that the she cannot let go of her ''plaything''.

As has previously been said, the board have dug themselves a huge gaping hole now and they are in for some very rough waters at Carrow Road IF we do not get off to a satisfactory start to the season and no new investment is on the immediate horizon. I hope she is ready for all that because we could be about to see scenes reminiscent of the end of the Robert Chase days.

Until then however I will sit down by the beach and wait for further news to arrive before making my ultimate opinion known. Hopefully we will know soon. Time is not something Delia, Michael and the board have in abundance anymore.

  2. I find not just content of these comments but the timing of them too absolutely unbelievable. We are on the brink of the worst recession for donkeys years with people losing jobs, not being able to afford to fill up their cars at the pumps, be able to afford the rising food priceses or keep up with the high mortgage payments.

However all our worries are nothing compared to these poor footballers who have to train for at least a couple of hours everyday and THEN  if they are one of the even more unfortunate slaves who have to put themselves through 90 minutes of competitive action on a Saturday. I just dont know how they cope with it all!

The San Jose Earthquakes have reached an agreement with English striker Darren Huckerby after completing a trade with Toronto FC for his rights, sources with knowledge of the deal told SBI on Thursday. Huckerby will join the Earthquakes when the MLS transfer window opens on July 15th.

What does the ''''completing a trade with Toronto FC'''' bit mean?
Angel, It means they had to agree some form of compensation with Toronto because Toronto had filed a ''Discovery Claim'' with the MLS meaning they kind of obtained the first refusal on signing him. I dont really understand the thinking behind this or think it is very fair but there you go! Rules is rules!

Ah, the Law of Bagsey finally makes its way into football...

I think they prefer the term ''shotgun''!

    ha ha very good!!!

In my view the thug should never be allowed on the football pitch again. Footballers are supposed to be role models to young children and are paid astronomical wages which means they should act as so on and off the field. This yob should be banned from football. let him try and find a job in the real world. I am not sure he is capable.

  6. Wish the great man all the very best out California way. He has certainly made the better choice climate-wise! Spent a little time a little north of San Jose a few years back and it certainly gets warm in the summer months. I am sure he will love it. Cant wait to see him in action in the MLS!

  7. Its yet another case of believe it when I see it. Is anyone else getting a little bit fed up of us being linked with all these players who are apparently being shown around Colney or having medicals and what not who have probably only ever been to Norfolk as part of an opposing side?

Is there anyway in which these transfer rumour posts could be directed/posted on the transfer rumours forum? surely that is what its there for?

  8. Cant stand Jimmy Car personally and a lot of that is because of his frequent Norfolk Inbreeding jibes. Such a cheap gag. Lee Evans also uses it too. Give me Billy Connolly any day of the week!

Also yes I know Clarkson too often jokes about us Country folk but that aside I often find myself agreeing with everything he says! If he ever forayed into Politics he would damn sure get my vote!

  9. Also wasnt there something a few years ago when some players made alterations on their shirt. Something to do with a protest or something against their sponsors? maybe something to do with a casino or gambling sponsorship deal being against their religion?

If I get time I will Wikipedia it... That website has the answer to all of lifes questions!

  10. I must agree with Wiz and the others who dont believe Philips would have been a good signing. You cannot argue that he has had an outstanding career and at this level he has posed a threat but at 34 years old and with the weekly wage he is likely to command it is a big big gamble as to whether he can carry on his good form into this season.

There are plenty of other more viable alternatives with many more years in the game ahead of them and on lower wages. Hulse is being mentioned on the boards for one, plus there is the lad at Peterborough Maclean. Not sure about his availability but would love to see him in the yellow and Green.  I have trust in Glenn thou, he knows our limits and he will have got a nice little list together I am sure. Just sit back, let him do his job and we''ll be fine.

  11. The young Shannock Bob spent his boyhood days watching the glorious passing football of Gordon, Crook et al from the River End as it was known then before moving across to the South Stand. The best spot for me by a country mile has been level with the halfway line.

The worst by far was in the Snakepit while we were moved out while development of the new stand was taking place.

Looking forward to this year however back where I started in the River end although I am not sure the quality will match that of what was on show when I was previously there.

  12. I''m not sure that is the case Bly.

I would have thought the sensible thing to do would be to prepare for the coming season on the assumption that things will remain as they are. He would be a rumm''un to not sign any players on the current ''Delia Regime'' budget in case nothing happens with Cullum and then find on the eve of the season that he is having to call Gossy out of retirement to make up the numbers!

If Cullum does get in I reckon we''ll be in for an exciting January transfer window my boy.

PS Bob.  How on earth can you include 1st Wiz when he''s been one of the most cantankerous controversialist attention-seeking windup merchants on this forum ever since I''ve been around?

Of course it was all lovely when we were winning the Championship, what was there to complain about?  It''s all gone horribly wrong since then, and if you want my opinion division between the fans suits our board of directors just fine - "Divide and Rule" and all that.  Not any more . . .
That he has Mr Profit, that he has. I have always had a little soft spot for old Wiz though. I have often found his posts and his little tirades humourous and I dont think he resorts to needless insults. Yes he can be an attention seeker but I am sure it is all part of the character he has adopted.

I completely agree with your divide and rule comment and yes you are right the board probably are very content with that. As you say, not any more.... A poor start to this season will have arguably 80% of fans putting hard questions to the board and Delia will find her position untenable. I hope it doesnt come to that as after what she has done for the club in the past she doesnt deserve to go like that. It will get very interesting my friend.
Agree with all of that Bob, including the last bit. (It''s Miss Prophet btw - not that it matters).

    I do apologise my gal!

  15. I completely think Mr Cullum has the clubs best interests at heart. I would welcome him as the majority shareholder with open arms tomorrow.

He is first and foremost a fan of the club and always has been. He has already said that this is one decision where he would let his heart rule his head. He knows that as a business venture he is not likely to make money out of the club. He is however in the position to do something which every football fan has dreamt of at some point in their lives: owning/having a controlling interest in their favourite football club.

He has the potential to make this club bigger than any of us ever imagined. Lets keep our fingers crossed and pray that it happens. Delia you have been simply amazing my darling but I am afraid Carrow Road has had a sort of stale smell around it for the past few years that it reminds me of the old crab pots down by the shore. Mr Cullum can the breath of fresh sea air we sorely need!

  16. This used to be such a happy forum. When I used to participate previously in another guise posters such as DumbleDelia, Gorleston Jim, First Wizard, Zippers Left Foot and GazzaTheGreat and Knowwhatimean used to spark such great debate. They were happy days with talk of winning the Championship, the struggles of the Premiership and oh so nearly surviving.

Now we are knee deep in pointless, duplicated posts of meaningless rumours and un-neccessary backbiting. Unfortunately as a result of the lack of moderation on the forums this seems to have become a unpoliced playground for those who like to bully and torment from behind the protection of their computer screens. The recent comparison of Dear Delia to Robert Mugabe another example of the mindless squit that gets through nowadays.

I am looking forward to the coming season no matter what happens behind the scenes and am looking forward to participating in more debates on the hot topics surrounding our great club and hope to do so in a forum which encourages free speech and opinion, not stifle it.

  17. So what if not all Norwich fans want to sing for 90 minutes. As a previous poster said, it doesnt make you any less a fan does it.  Personally I enjoy singing the initial OTBC but during the game i prefer to applaud, watch whats going on, analize tactics etc. When I had a season ticket in the Jarrold Stand a few years back I had to chuckle at the rummuns in the lower Barclay who seemed to spend the entire match singing and looking at the away fans rather than what was going on on the field of play. Each to their own though.

My take on the current situation is that Cullum will most probably be in position to put in a succesful bid by Christmas. He has been very shrewd in planting the seed publicly thus getting the great majority of city fans on his side and condeming Delia and the rest to becoming almost a ''lame duck'' board.

If/when the current team begin the season with a struggle and obviously there is no sign of future improvement in january, the amount of abuse from the terrace directed at Delia will be intangible. Not at all good for her celebrity status at all. Plus another season struggling in the lower recesses of the Championship will have an adverse effect on the share price which will allow Cullum to be able to strike a deal at a lower price.

I guess to sum up: I know that having seen the news earlier in the week of his potential investment, we are all undoubtedly very excited but i am a firm believer that patience is a virtue and I am posititve that we will have Cullum''s people at the helm eventually.

also, as house prices continue to fall, the clubs land and building assets will suffer a write down...

surely, the board should sell at the top - cos its likely to get worse, especially if we find ourselves in a relegation battle again???
yes, good point. It does make you wonder about the level of actual business acumen on the board and also wonder how many bad decisions over the years we have not been privvy to.
