  1. It''s relative isn''t it? That was a tough night that I think we''d have actually lost two weeks ago. Nobody likes it on paper but little bits at a time. 3 unbeaten is definitely an improvement.
  2. That will do me. Let''s have a look at the fact that we were dogged and difficult to beat tonight.
  3. I think it feels weird to play Lupoli at this late stage especially when Hools is no longer on.
  4. Oh man! Can anyone explain the tactical rationale for subbing Hollahop?
  5. I don''t think 433 is necessarily the way. Just put the striker on who''s most up for it. Lupes must wonder what he has to do. What do these guys see in training to limit his appearances so?
  6. Thank you Marty for not falling into the swingtastic rhetoric! An intelligent post on which I shall retire. Every game doesn''t need to result in a sacking or indeed the raising of someone to the position of deity.
  7. I forgot to put this on : http://new.pinkun.com/cs/forums/2/1556025/ShowPost.aspx#1556025
  8. I can''t stand it! I keep going over to the funniest footballer names thread for light relief. Nearly sh*t myself just now laughing. What a strange night I''m having! Come on Lupes be a hero.
  9. Did we ever have it confirmed whether we interviewed him? Albeit by phone etc? He was said to be interested. Perhaps it was this clean out / rebuild approach that ruled him out?
  10. Tonight''s as big a game as we''ve had all season. A win will create the type of momentum a 2m pound Prem reserve purchase couldn''t. Especially if the goal/s come from one of our few maligned striking specialists. It''s so precarious. Given the way we all seem to react to each result in extremis, Gunn must be bricking it. A genuine defining moment in his career and our club''s history. And the worst thing... I can do nowt about it. I''m ashamed to say that I won''t be there to lend my lungs to the cause. Confined to fast in the fires of a computer update. So sing up lovely people. Come on Yellows, survival really does start here!!
  11. Really nice to see this Bly. I have to admit I peeped at this post through my fingers expecting something a little more devisive (sp?).
  12. Yeah I know - it actually sprung to mind yesterday when I was listening to the spurs game. Campbell had a cracker at White Heart Lane. He''s had his say about the degree of abuse and it''s impact on him, now he''s sucking it up and actually being motivated by it. Somewhere along the line football lost Roeder and we suffered as a result.
  13. I wonder what long term effect the horrific abuse Roeder got at West Ham when he had his brain tumor has had on his attitude towards fans? I for one love a cauldron like atmosphere at a ground and find the edgy banter quite exciting but as with Spurs fans at Portsmouth v Campbell and with Roeder at Upton Park, it occasionally escalates into something more sinister. Was Roeders attitude toward us as supporters and his defensive arrogance a by-product of that experience I wonder? Or was he just a self centered git?
  14. As head of Player recruitment it would be remiss to not have a look in the interim. You''re little heart must be pounding what with all the panicking you do. Has anyone ever statistically sussed how often these premonitions of doom (5 a day at the mo I''d say - all on separate threads) bear fruit in actuality? This board should be called Neighborhood Wiz Watch. "WHAT WAS THAT??? DID YOU HEAR THAT??? IT''S BURGLARS!!!
  15. Doubt it. But if by some miracle The People has chosen today as the first day in its history not to make up a load of guff then my response would be - see ya!
  16. Yeah I know it does I''ve just been off sniffing for it. That''s even odder isn''t it? I mean, there''s lazy journalism which affects how we receive things, but many on here would suspect that there''s an Orwellian control of the rhetoric on the clubs own site. Same rushed transcriptions regardless of the office evidently. We''ve drifted off your original point though eh? I think what I''m saying is that I doubt Gunny would select that as his primary point of reference in relation to last weeks dismissal. If that''s actually what he did then I''ll get back under me duvet.
  17. Southgate is one of those characters who I look to for some balance and humility these days. The game used to be full of people who would share the frustration of the fans without diverting blame or making career based cagey comments. I''m sorry he''s having a bad run at the moment, I''ve been impressed with the quietly effective ruddering of Boro since he took over, and I recall fearing for him at the time. PS those who like him should read Woody and Nord by Southgate and Any Woodman. Best mates at youth players - separated professionally, it''s a joint auto biog which spans the game from top to toe. Proper footy gents the pair of them.
  18. Don''t be snippy, check the "etc" at the end of the post. You know what I''m getting at don''t you? I''m just saying, these singular quotes are almost never presented (whatever the format) as part of a rolling, all inclusive text. Oh by the way, sarcasm''s hard to convey in here so I''d never write the word mate without it being an actual term of affection. I may disagree with your target today but I''m not having a personal punt.
  19. I''d be pleased I think. His tenure at Watford was a mixed bag for sure but that constitutes experience doesn''t it? Of course we''re assuming he''d include Malky, which we''d all like to see. A caveat to my post should be the confession that I was happy with Roeder''s appointment.
  20. Consider the context before you get your little red faced icon out again mate! "Bryan do you think that the players let Roeder down?" "Yeah, I do think that they let Roeder down" Part of a much longer chat, whittled and edited to a meaningless piece of lazy journalism and spliced into ITV Championship etc. By the way - out of interest, how much does Gunn earn at C R these days?
