  1. When Saturday Comes! Not anywhere near as good as the magazine of the same name. Christ was that film awful.
  2. The Full Monty didn't do too bad. 😉
  3. The criticism is that, fine take Sarge off when 2-0, but at least replace him with somebody that would be a threat to Wednesday, and IMO that was Aboh - they know as much about him as we do, so they would have had to set up to defend him whatever, which would have taken some of the sting out of their all out blitz. Instead we went passive again and let them come on to us. When it went 2-1 personally I would have subbed Gibson for Duffy, put Kenny in at LCB with Duffy at CB and Baath at RCB to try and stop their momentum and via Kenny take back some form of control of the ball (he's better at doing this as a LCB but not as a midfield pivot when we're under the cosh).
  4. Come on. You know as well as I do, even if Rowe was on the bench Wagner would still prefer to throw on a couple of defenders to protect what we have! 😉
  5. Interesting gripe LDC. Living in Sheffield is quite fun for this kind of griping. Sheffield United were the first "United" football club, their fans are always pissed off when ManUre are seemingly the only club allowed to be called United by the media (and of course they nicked our scarves as well). Then the Owls were originally called The Wednesday Football Club, only adding Sheffield officially in the 1930's! There is also the oldest football club still in existence, Sheffield Club who hold title to "Sheffield" in their name. So in Sheffield, you could say there are Sheffield, United and Wednesday. As far as I can research Manchester City were the first professional side to have City as part of their name, but everyone knows them as Citeh nowadays. Do you want to claim City for ourselves only LDC?
  6. Bloody hell. We're in the Championship, we have no spare cash, our investors don't feel confident enough yet to bankroll the Head coach. And most importantly we have lots of youngsters busting a gut to play (Welch, Aboh, etc.) that other Championship managers would gladly put on the pitch, but Wagner doesn't. As he also doesn't play SvH (I'll leave others to debate this). These are the choices Wagner makes, and it is super, super important that he realises making statements like last night's does him no favours when he doesn't back it up by at least giving those youngsters a run out. Last night was crying out for something to get Wednesday thinking about us in their half, rather than just focusing on bludgeoning us to death, but Wagner for whatever reason never changed it up - **** poor management yet again from Mr Cautious. So to come out with that criticism of the "backing he got in the transfer window" after he seemingly got his way in the summer window with all those "super experienced" 30 years olds is a bit rich. How many more 30 year old journeymen does he want? Trust in youth David. At least occasionally, if not all the time.
  7. My tuppennyhapporth and I know I will upset people on here, but I blame Kenny! As others on here have mentioned we should have just controlled the ball and passed better. In that way, Wednesday would never have had the ability to build up a head of steam. Kenny's passing last night was simply atrocious, poor old Marcelino had to do the work of two men last night. And don't throw stats at me, this was pure eye test from my point of view. Kenny cannot make the right decisions when needed when he is in the middle of the pitch. Given how Gibson panicked in that 2nd half, subbing Gibson and moving Kenny back to LCB would have been a good move IMO because when Kenny has all the play in front of him he makes better decisions and we look more composed as a result. Sure, this would have meant Sara dropping back and Fassnacht pushed forward, but if that had been done at Half time we still had a 2 goal lead to protect, which we could comfortably have retained by just keeping the ****ing ball in our possession. Perhaps bringing Aboh on would also have given Wednesday something else to worry about, we have no clue what he can do so surely they wouldn't either so would have had to have been wary about him. Instead we gave them little to worry about in the 2nd half by continually allowing them possession. Yes, last night was yet again another Wagner & Kenny masterwork. I want no repeat on Saturday. Otherwise I'll focus back on corporate governance once more and make Purps chortle!
  8. Ah, Matt, that's top archaeology! Taken some of my anxiety away.
  9. Rovrum have gone. The pressure is off and some of their players will be playing for a contract. Stranger things have happened.
  10. Yep, its very windy, the rain should blow through in the next 10 minutes, just as I start my walk to the ground via Kelham Island's finest ale houses. The forecast is dry but windy during the match - it's direction is through the gap between the South Stand and Leppings Lane end. The temperature is going to drop, frost is forecast by dawn. I'm sure given the recent wet weather that even with the best drainage system in the country (and it isn't) the pitch is going to be heavy and sticky. It won't be a bowling green like the Carra.
  11. And in theory our players have had 2 and half hours extra break! #marginalgains
  12. There are no midweek EPL games this week and do the PGMOL ref's get paid per game? As for his quality, well, might be dependent on how used to VAR he has got.
  13. Sod governance ATM, I want a trip to Wembley this year to see the mighty yellows triumph again! 🤣🤣🤣
  14. Ack, racing through my read of the thread, trying to get things done to allow me to get to the game tonight! D'oh!
  15. Strange people are talking of resting players at this stage of the season - only do that when promotion is sealed, there is too much to play for if we are being serious about promotion. We need to chase down and pass WBA for one, to get what I would perceive is an easier route to a play off win. Rowe is looking like being available on Saturday in some form. As others have said, if the players can't hack three Champ games in a week, we really shouldn't be thinking of going up. I'm with Keano on that. As TGS said it is the last midweek this season, so shouldn't be a fear to any. Tonight, if we need to give our forwards a rest (as is likely as Hillsborough is a big pitch and the water table is barely a couple of centimetres below pitch level ATM), then I really want to see Aboh come on and scare the **** out of the Wendy's back line with his direct threat.
  16. Well, I think he has named his price for a play-off promotion celebration - 400 Beers for Mr Wagner, please!
  17. Apologies for tardy response NS, but have been celebrating since that game on Saturday. Also a further apology but being local I haven't driven to Hillsborough this century! I get the Supertram from Town. My usual recommendation to Norwich fans driving is to park at Meadowhall then get the Supertram, stopping at Shalesmoor / Kelham Island for a few drinks at the good selection of real ale pubs close to the stop in relative safety (The Wellington, The Ship, Kelham Island Tavern, The Fat Cat, Saw Grinder's Union, The Allder all worth a "taste" or two). Sure, the Supertram takes 35 minutes, but driving to the stadium would usually take as long as driving to the ground as the A61 on which it stands is hellishly slow on matchdays. If you are driving and aiming to get as close to the stadium as possible, then taking the M1 to Junction 35 or even 36 and then driving in from the North is probably quicker than trying to traverse through the City Centre. The following guide on Car parks holds true as far as I know. So, come in from the North and look for the "unofficial" car parks along the A61 as you get close to the stadium if you are in a rush. As the advice says, the streets around the ground are permit controlled, and Sheffield's famous parking wardens will be busy as always on matchdays. But a £30 ticket might be a fair price for another step to the play-offs?
  18. I have to admit that this thread made me realise that I hadn't claimed my membership for a few years. Sorted now, but it is easy to forget to do it.

  20. I don't normally do non-football, but thought I'd join this thread as this Derby weekend I'm taking my mind off the match by gigging (well actually there's nothing new about that - as you will see). Tonight it is a gig to launch the first album by a band called Hexe, at the Hallamshire Hotel. The bassist just happens to be the bassist in my 80's band, now playing in his sons band. Life goes around! (5) HEXE | Facebook Tomorrow, it is W H Lung at the Sidney & Matilda. I hope it'll be a real celebration evening.
