1. The reason for doing this is fairly obvious - a bottle full of liquid is a dangerous (ish) missile when thrown from distance and height, without it''s lid the liquid comes out in flight and it probably wouldn''t get very far anyway. An empty bottle is very light and wouldn''t do damage, a full bottle is not light and would hurt.
 2. I think Bradley Johnson was in the previous 30 man squad, and that''s where the speculation came from re England - he got cut for the actual squad to travel though.   I may be wrong, but I think that''s the case.
 3. The initial 30 man squad is confirmed today, with each player notified.   It is only the final squad that is made public, and this will be on Sunday. It was the same for the previous international match too.
 4. I think the first free kick we conceded was after 80 minutes.   We were given a couple in the first half.
 5.
Oh dear another spineless tool, cast yr mind back to Rotherham away 4-4 a few years back, bottles everything, favours the home side, odds on another penalty? Id say very high !!!!!
Are you kidding me??!   We got the softest penalty ever in that match, and that is what started the fracas that resulted in them being down to 10 men for the whole second half and Ronnie Moore in the stand!
 6.
I think maybe Stoke deserved a draw, albeit with quite a lot of help from the ref, but there''s no way that they deserved to win the game. Maybe Pulis had that ridiculous baseball cap covering his eyes at times.
I agree that they didn''t deserve a win - and Im not sure Pulis said that they did. In any game you draw but miss a penalty and play against 10 men for 35 mins you would expect to have won. Whether the decisions to get to that position (i.e. the pen and the red card) aren''t really Pulis''s concern, and nor would they be ours if it were the other way round.   It seems to me that tangles of legs are invariably given as freekicks in the prem, this incident was not a lot different to the one at Wigan really. Forwards are shrewder, stronger and faster, we need to learn quickly, which I''m sure we will.
 7.
Much fairer assesment, I thought Pilko looked handy. Not much for Holt. WD
What did you think of Bennett? I thought he caused you some real problems, would be good to get an impartial view.
 8. Hoolahan in for Martin for me against Chelsea. Wes is excellent at holding up the ball and also at hassling defenders.   What Wigan showed me was that the diamond has big problems in the Prem as it relies on overlapping full backs, something which can give you massive problems at this level against teams that can break incisively with pace.   I think a 4-4-1-1 formation will work well, although Holt will be required to stay more central than he normally does, but so should he when we''re playing a 4-4-2 with proper wingers in any case.
 9. I''m looking forward to seeing Vaughan in action - a mixture of pace and power is clearly what is needed at this level, either one in isolation isn''t really going to cut it.
 10. I think a draw was fair really. Justice was done when the penalty was saved. but the Barnett decision was probably right. It was as much a foul and a red than the Ipswich one at Carrow last season. After that point it was all Stoke, and I was glad we hadn''t conceded earlier than we did. I think Pulis comment is fair really, if we had drawn a game having missed a penalty we''d be disappointed not to have won whether we deserved to win is not really a relevant consideration. Also, any game in which you have 35 mins to have a go at 10 men you''d hope to win. Onwards and upwards. We''ll continue to improve.
 11. It was a difficult situation to deal with. I think the main issue we had was that once Bennett went off we didn''t really have an outlet other than hammering the ball long and it was that which resulted in the relentless pressure for the last 15 minutes.
 12.
I''m still surprised we were only 1-0 down at halftime. It took me a while to realise one of the CB''s, had forgotten how many games he actually played in that position.
Actually the match was a lot more competitive than 4-0 would suggest. We hit the post midway through the first half before they scored, and their first goal was a horrible deflection. They got another shortly after the break, but we should have scored (Cech made a wonder save I recall) before they got two more in injury time at the end.
 13.
Struggling [:|] Need 4 more. Right Centre Back (left as you look at it) Right back? Both Wingers? Any clues people? I am sure one will be really obvious!
The wingers enjoyed very different fortunes under Glenn Roeder''s tenure.
 14. Ah! Success! Not a particularly stong side it must be said.
 15. Sky film most Prem team pre season friendlies I think - they''ll almost certainly show highlights and have updates this evening. Not sure if it''s on tv anywhere though
 16.
Bennett and Pilkington are both younger and have been performing well at league 1 level, MacDonald is yet to be proved at higher than league 1. Morison was one of the top scorers in both league 1 and the championship and i actually think his price is cheap compared with CMS and the £5m touted for shane long
Gillingham are league 2
 17.

Indeed.... I have the same sick feeling in my stomach that I had when Mills and Sherwood left for a pittance.
At the end of the day it''s your view against several respected football managers/CEOs - Lambert says he''s not good enough, and a couple of other Clubs (presuming Megson was talking about him)  have said he is not worth what we are asking. So, that''s three (us, Peterborough and SW) who disagree with your assessment of his abilities.
Fair enough but it''s not a vote and I know that I am going to be proved right.... the guy has pace, can finish with head or foot and is definitely better than Jackson. I''ll remind you doubters in due course.
I don''t think you do. But in the off chance that it''s not just your opinion, can you PM me a few other facts from the future? Seems like easy money to me. You must be minted.
 18. I saw this somewhere else yesterday, I think Wednesday have said they''ve made an offer for a striker on the fringe of the squad of a prem team, and speculation is that it''s Cody. I think that would be an excellent move for him.
 19. I think this is because Stoke haven''t taken their full allocation isn''t it? Therefore we have at least one block more than we will have for a lot of games this season.
 20.

Pinkun and official site twitter feeds are probably the best bet for updates.
Not forgetting SSN, they may have updates from the game and possibly goals (if any) later.... ...we''re Premiership now.
Very true - although their updates don''t tend to be particularly timely!
 21. Pinkun and official site twitter feeds are probably the best bet for updates.
 22. It took me 162 calls to get through - got in the queue almost as soon as it turned 9am though. Could be something in the theory that they weren''t taking calls before that, or maybe they only had one person working 8 - 9 then 4 or 5 after 9.
 23. I must be just behind you in the queue. Down to 13th now.
