  2. There were a lot of Luton fans in the River End that day. I was 11 and it was my first experience of visiting fans at Carrow Road. PS where do Canaries take their birds? Times have changed
  3. Just heard on the radio that Oscar Pestorious is going to have to wear a tag on his ankle. Not being rude, but how is that going to work?
  4. It's odd isn't it. I assume that the Post Office hasn't taken action against Fujitsu because if they had they would have been admitting that Horizon didn't work after spending years stating that it did.
  5. This has been mentioned elsewhere but deserves a thread of its own. The ITV drama left me angry and close to tears. Please watch and contact your MP to express your anger. Those affected are ordinary people like you and me who have had their lives ruined. This isn't a matter of left v right or Labour v Conservative. It's a matter of common decency. I knew it was bad but I didn't know it was this bad. If you do watch be prepared to be very angry. Available by catch up on ITVX
  6. My village is absolutely riddled with Covid
  7. Move the Treasury to Newcastle! My God! I suppose you also want a load of Grammar school boys who didn't go to Eton to run it. Perish the thought 😂
  8. We have now had 3 managers who have spent their whole lives in football who have picked Kenny consistently. But there are numerous people on this forum who have never worked in football who don't rate him. And despite his apparently obvious failings he'll be going to the Euros. There's another manager who doesn't know what he's doing. Hmmm.....
  9. Challenge to all you posters. A competition to see who can get a totally fictitious transfer story mentioned in the EDP/Pink'Un
  10. Well then, did he actually get to speak?
  11. In case anyone else hasn't mentioned it. Mr Bates v The Post Office is on ITV and available on catch up. Superb tv but be warned, it will make your head explode.
  12. Rule 1 for Knapper must surely be not to risk players with an injury record. It rarely works and we can't afford it.
  13. I absolutely despair. The organisation that has released this data is world leading. It is used by the United Nations. Look at projections from the UEA and University of Cambridge. The UEA is recognised worldwide for its work in this area. Other than them, there is a huge amount of data available on the last 30 years and just as much again on predictions for the next 30. Or you could just drive to Hemsby and see it with your own eyes. No one is suggesting Carrow Road will be permanently underwater but it will be on a regular basis (unless action is taken), enough to make regular football unsustainable. In case you didn't know, tides are affected by the lunar cycle which creates a risk every 4 weeks. And as for @BigFish, you suggest that a data gathering group using scientific evidence to produce reports used by the United Nations should be ignored. That just beggars belief. Your basis for ignoring the scientific data is that it is on the Internet. I have some magic marbles, would you like to buy some? You have also gone very quiet over the financial side. You want the club to spend in excess of £100m over 25 years on seats that could well remain empty because - We stay in the Championship A European Super League is created (what a shock that would be) Your basis for spending this money is that a man who has been inside a football ground less than 10 times in his life will overcome all these problems and magically sell another 5,000 seats for every match for the next 25 years. Really? I'm a bit fed up with wasting my time talking to a couple of dinasours who have decided to ignore the world's finest scientists in their chosen field. Perhaps you should tell the people who attend COP conferences that they're wasting their time. Just tell them you've looked out of the window and it will all be fine. Nothing to worry about whatsoever......
  14. Do you seriously not think these people are experts? The United Nations would beg to differ. For goodness sake! https://www.climatecentral.org/what-we-do Climate Central's best-in-class global elevation data anchored visualizations and maps used at the 2021 UN Climate Conference to illustrate sea level rise projections. To date, our online maps and tools have been used more than 10 million times. Our 10-year-old Climate Matters program provides production-ready graphics and climate science reporting resources to meteorologists and journalists in 95% of U.S. media markets. Along with a small team of international experts, our scientists launched the groundbreaking World Weather Attribution, changing the narrative on links between climate change and individual extreme weather events. Our pioneering attribution work continues with the Climate Shift Index, which along with our other tools and data analyses support communication, planning and adaptation initiatives around the world.
  15. Yes, you're right and Norwich City can't be blamed for that. It's what has happened to English football as a result of TV money. If we do eventually employ a manager who is good enough to get us promoted and keep us up he will leave for bigger and better things. I must admit to being content with Championship football. That wasn't the case 20 years ago but I'm really not interested in watching us battle for survival and ultimately fail. As for Saturday's game, I do have some sympathy for the views of @ricardo However, I go to Carrow Road to be entertained, not to sit in silence watching a game of attack v defence. To put it in perspective, we were playing Southampton at home in the Championship. The strength of our team is attacking players like Rowe, Sainz and Sargent. All 3 of those players would walk into the Southampton team but our manager seems to have been confused and thought we were playing Manchester City. FFS, it was Southampton.
  16. We're not talking about now. We're talking about 25 years time. The threat to Norwich is caused by rising sea levels caused by climate change. You may choose to bury your head in the sand but I suggest you have a look at what has happened at Hemsby and Winterton before you do. I hope and think there is a solution to this potential problem but at the moment the people responsible in Norfolk don't have a plan. There is far more at stake for Norfolk than just NCFC. This will have a dramatic effect on people's homes and businesses. It would be nice to think that Norwich and Norfolk Councils are doing something but they're not. That is unacceptable, especially as we have the resources needed at the UEA. Perhaps they think it's "hyperbole" as well? https://rapidtransition.org/resources/playing-against-the-clock/ https://coastal.climatecentral.org/map/15/1.3143/52.6124/?theme=sea_level_rise&map_type=year&basemap=roadmap&contiguous=true&elevation_model=best_available&forecast_year=2050&pathway=ssp3rcp70&percentile=p50&refresh=true&return_level=return_level_1&rl_model=gtsr&slr_model=ipcc_2021_med Here is the projection for the May Gurney site which as you rightly say is earmarked for development. Anyone thinking of buying there would have to be crazy. You may think this is all "hyperbole". In the words of Michael Gove "so called experts don't know what they're talking about". What is worrying is that several people on this site think the experts are talking nonsense but they have no scientific support for their views whatsoever. That includes our local councils who will allow the development to go ahead just like many others around the country over the last 30 years. Edit The River Severn flooded Worcester in 2000 and the Environment Agency said it was a 1 in 50 years event. Since then it has happened 7 times. Today's flooding is way over the worst predictions of the EA. It should be noted that the problem in Worcester is purely rainwater and isn't affected by sea levels in the same way as Norfolk.
  17. I'm still not sure where your figures are coming from. Assuming a cost of £50m over 25 years the loan repayments would be £4.5m a year. Assuming we sold 5000 extra seats for EVERY game over that period we would bring in £2m a year. We won't sell that many unless we stay in the Premier League and this season proves that. If our top clubs leave for a European competition we would never sell the extra seats. If anything, we should currently be worrying about how on earth we sell the seats we do have. Your naming rights figures are hopelessly out. There simply isn't any money in naming stands. It's currently called the City Stand for a reason which is that no one will pay. That's why very big clubs name their stands after old players and it's why even with two years in the Premier League it's still called the City Stand. I'm not "fixated" by flooding but I am rightly concerned about it and so should everyone. You can't compare fresh water flooding at Carlisle with sea water flooding in Norwich anyway but to simply suggest it's an inconvenience is hopelessly wide of the mark. Flood a grass/synthetic pitch with salt and see what happens. The same goes for buildings. I've assumed a cost of £50m. When it was questioned at an AGM 4 or 5 years ago it was £40m so £50m is likely on the very low side. Ipswich Town borrowed £30m for ground improvements around 20 years ago. Look what happened to them. Bournemouth recently considered a new stadium but decided it wasn't worth the investment. Other clubs of a similar size to us have expanded but needed a sugar daddy to do it. Attanasio isn't a sugar daddy, he's here to make money.
  18. Did they really name their company after a fictional Birmingham gangster?
  19. I had quite a good view of the Sara yellow and didn't think it was a foul. I may be wrong but having said that, the City Stand people murmered angrily.
  20. I had an excellent view of it. I thought he took the man and the ball. If you're Norwich it's a goal kick. If it's Liverpool you get a penalty.
  21. Placheta likely to return to Poland so doubtful starter I should think.
  22. I haven't seen highlights but I also sit in the river end and like you was a bit baffled we didn't get a penalty for the challenge on Rowe. It looked absolutely stonewall from where I sat. The ref made several strange minor decisions.
  23. @ricardothe prospect of a very close Trump defeat is frightening. I really hope you're wrong but I have a nasty feeling
