  1. Skipp doesn't even get on the bench at Spurs when everyone is fit. If we don't go up we may well struggle to keep Rowe, Sargent, Sara, Sainz and possibly Nunez. Sainz and Nunez may attract Spanish interest.
  2. I found it difficult to believe that the woman I was listening to was once Prime Minister. The interviewer deserves credit for not laughing. The smoking thing is shocking. Is there a smoker out there who doesn't wish they'd never started? Actually there was a lady on the radio today who said she'd happily buy cigarettes for her children if they wanted them! I would like to have asked her if she'd buy them heroin. Truss likened cigarettes to alcohol and ignored the point that millions of people like a drink at the weekend and do so in moderation. I know full well that nicotine just isn't like that. It would appear she's unlikely to lose her seat although I think an ex Conservative local chairman is standing against her.
  3. @littleyellowbirdie Flatly deny stuff that's blatantly true. Wow! Johnson's problem was that he lied to Parliament about Covid parties and Pincher. He resigned because his own party forced him to. Those are the extremely major facts that you have ignored (actually you've gone one step further and changed the facts). Sorry, I should have made it clear that I haven't commented on the Robinson case because I have no knowledge of it whatsoever.
  4. Whatever you do, don't let the facts get in the way of a good story! By the way, lying to Parliament is not a trivial matter. It is extremely serious.
  5. His own party forced Johnson to stand down after he blatantly lied to Parliament about the Chris Pincher affair. It had nothing to do with cake. The Pincher matter was not investigated by the police.
  6. What makes you think that HMRC is making enquiries? No such statement has been made by Rayner and HMRC does not discuss taxpayers affairs, even if asked to do so. Rayner has offered to publish her Returns /advice if Conservative MPs do the same. They won't. I haven't got a clue what the alleged electoral roll offence is about I'm afraid. We'll have to wait and see.
  7. What I say doesn't really matter. The HMRC guidance is available online https://www.gov.uk/tax-sell-home/nominating-a-home
  8. The police may be in a bit of bother themselves. Rayner is Britain's most threatened MP. Her children need a police guard to and from school. It's not beyond the bounds of possibility that they've encouraged her not to publicly use the correct address. The treatment that MPs from all sides have had to put up with lately leads me to think their home addresses should be out of the public domain.
  9. Non doms pay UK tax on income earned in the UK. They don't pay tax on income earned elsewhere but they do pay UK tax on that income if it is remitted to the UK. (That's very easy to avoid/evade with the simple use of a debit/credit card attached to an offshore account). Non doms do not pay tax on capital (as opposed to income) remitted to the UK.
  10. I'm afraid you've got it all wrong. Rayner owned two properties. The CGT legislation requires anyone with 2 or more properties to make an election as to which is their private residence for CGT purposes. The main rule is that the property has to have been used as the main residence at some point. So if Rayner elected to have the council house as her private residence then the other house she owned or joint owned would be liable for CGT for the period concerned.
  11. No you don't need a lawyer. You need a qualified tax accountant. Send me a pm if you want an independent recommendation.
  12. There is no evidence that HMRC is carrying out an investigation. All Rayner has to do is claim that the property in question was her main residence for CGT purposes and there is no tax offence. She has offered to publish her Tax Returns if the Tories do the same. Bear in mind that HMRC won't comment publicly even if Rayner asks them to. I think you're right to be intrigued by the police investigation. Have they really been asked to investigate a 'crime' that is time barred from prosecution?
  13. I'm listening to her on 5Live at the moment. My God. Edit A friend has just said that Truss sounds just like Delia on the radio. There is a resemblance but Delia is obviously the better politician
  14. I think Palmer is more than good enough to play for England but how you would fit him in the team is another matter. In 1966, England had probably the world's best goalscorer in Jimmy Greaves but he was left out because the team as a whole were better without him. Perhaps it's time that Kane is left out? Or perhaps play him behind Palmer? I'd also agree with the views above about the current crop of England players. They're the best for 50 years and Bellingham will probably end up being the best ever. I watched Anthony Gordon against Spurs and he was so good even Saka can't be sure of his England place.
  15. On reflection, you're right. Reports suggest Everton players were drunk on the coach before the game.
  16. Very sad. The Knott Underwood combination was excellent. Time for an awful admission. I watched test cricket a lot in the late 60's/early 70's when Underwood was regularly referred to as the night watchman. As a 9 or 10 year old I assumed he was some sort of security guard and felt sorry for him having to work all night and play cricket as well.
  17. Sheffield United. And of course, Coventry City. But If we finish in 6th above them on goal difference I will consider the matter closed.
  18. I doubt Starmer is overly bothered, in fact he may be glad to see the back of her. But if she nominated the house in question as her main residence for CGT purposes then there are no tax implications. She has made it quite clear there is no tax due. Using that address on electoral papers is no big deal really. She owned the property and no one else lived there. Bearing in mind that her children are escorted to school by the police every day she may claim to have done it for security reasons. The thing that annoys me is that the time limit for prosecuting the offence she is alleged to have committed has long passed. The Conservative Party know that full well but have still asked the police to investigate a crime for which they are unable to prosecute. What a ridiculous waste of time and resources. But as others have pointed out, if you live in a greenhouse you really shouldn't throw stones. I doubt she's done much, if anything, wrong but I'm sure there'll be much more of this sort of thing. We know there are some extremely dubious people in the Conservative Party and I'd be surprised if there weren't a few on the other side of the fence. We've probably got a few months left of this sort of nonsense which pretty much sums up the state of the country at the moment. Very depressing.
  19. Coventry can still get 75 points and aren't playing on Saturday due to the FA Cup. I think the earliest we can confirm the play offs is Wednesday 24 April when Coventry play Hull. If Wagner has any sense he will immediately rest all the attacking players with the exception of Rowe.

  21. Liverpool have offered £25m plus Virgil van **** for Jonny Rowe. Norwich have accepted the £25m........
  22. Are we nearly there yet? I'm sure Tilly posted this ages ago but I couldn't find it
  23. Quite agree. He was all over the place yesterday.
  24. He had a very positive effect. But the only way I can see him starting is if we leave out Barnes
