  1. The Sheffield Wednesday Cup tie is the game that led to the authorities to decide that The Nest was unsafe. Absolute nonsense obviously
  2. The BBC interviewed a lot of refugees in France yesterday. They thought a 1 in 50 chance of going to Rwanda was worth it. That's of course if it gets that far. It will end up in the courts.
  3. Angela van den Boegard is a witness before the inquiry today. She was the sidekick of Paula Vennells. Live on Radio 5 at 9.45am
  4. I must admit I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
  5. Extraordinary game and commentary. My favourite home game ever. The young lady next to me just burst into tears 😂
  6. How long does it take to get an appeal before the ECHR?
  7. I think you're a bit confused. I think your worry is that the people in those boats manage to get here. My worry is that they don't.
  8. In which European country has a far right Government taken control? The last European election was in Poland where the left replaced a right wing Government. I'm afraid that you are suffering from an illusion if you think this country will eventually move to the right. Support for the Conservative Party among the under 40's currently stands at 14%. The vast bulk of Conservative support is in the baby boom generation (born between 1945 and 1965). Those people are starting to die. In 10 years time 75% of them will be dead. Most frightening of all for the Tories is that the average age of their membership of 250,000 is now 75. Around 90% of them will be dead in 10 years time. Meanwhile, thanks to the Blair government, over 50% of young people now attend University. If you go to University you are 90% certain to vote Labour. That's why Blair pushed University education and it's why Cameron tried to put a stop to it. So quite simply, it will be impossible for a right wing party to win a UK election in 10 years time. You might think that the current policy announcements on cutting the Civil Service, stopping the boats and cutting sick pay are aimed at gaining votes from Labour. The reality is that current polling has the Conservatives on 90 seats, the Lib Dems on 50 and Reform on zero. The current policy statements are aimed purely at stopping more Tory voters moving to Reform. If that happens the Conservatives are in real danger of coming 3rd. They're not fighting to win an election, they're fighting for their existence. You are right that they will be replaced on the right of the political spectrum but they will be replaced by a party that is currently polling on zero seats. It is worth repeating that Farage has stood for election 7 times and lost 7 times. That sums up the level of support for the far right.
  9. You should definitely go to Vera's https://www.agmeale.co.uk/vera-s-coffee-shop/
  10. Perhaps they need to do the River End as well? I moved seat this season because a complete **** head kept standing in front of me. That's upstairs in the River End where most people are too knackered to stand after walking up the stairs. Don't bother complaining, Norwich City won't do anything about it.
  11. Bearing in mind the mess that Angela Rayner is in, you wouldn't have thought she would survive PMQ'S. This thread is entitled 'Next Tory Leader'. It's probably fair to say after this lunchtime it won't be Oliver Dowden. An astonishgly shocking performance.
  12. I was 11 and have great memories of that tournament. It was definitely a whole new world!
  13. Just found it on ebay for £2.50. Beside myself with excitement 😂
  14. Has anyone got the Esso coin of Terry Cooper from 1970?
  15. How on earth do they normally arrange for Villa, Birmingham, WBA and Wolves to play on different days?
  16. That is purely the fault of the Conservatives. In 2010 they falsely accused the Labour Party of crashing the economy when it was clear to anyone with an ounce of common sense. Between 2010 and the start of Covid the National Debt had somehow increased by 250% despite almost 10 years of austerity. We were the only major economy in the world to adopt that strategy and it failed. They also gave us Brexit which has again trashed the economy. Obviously they didn't cause Covid but my God they did waste an awful lot of money. So today we are roughly the equivalent of a country mortgaged to the hilt, up to it's overdraft limit and maxed out on its credit cards. That is the fault of a corrupt and wholly incompetent group of people. Sunak as Chancellor borrowed huge amounts of money on floating rates to pay for Covid because he thought interest rates wouldn't increase. Truss saw to that. Johnson sacked probably the 17 most capable and intelligent people in his Party because they didn't agree with him over Brexit. They are proved right on a daily basis. The parties don't have different policies because we can't afford policies. We can't even afford to build a railway. In summary, you don't have a choice of policies unless you vote Green or BNP. That is because of the Tories and it's why anyone in their right mind should vote against them. Actually you do have one choice and that's on immigration. You can send one in 50 to Rwanda at a cost of £1.5m EACH, or do it the Labour way and Pay that money out to the French to put a stop to it and provide 'special services' to help them. Labour has also suggested a 'quiet word' with Turkey to stop them manufacturing the boats. If I was dealing with it I'd call in their ambassador and ask him if he felt lucky but I suspect Starmer would be more polite. If that all failed, £600m buys an awful lot of boats..... In case you haven't realised, the Rwanda policy isn't designed to gain votes, it's to stop them losing even more votes to Reform. They are genuinely concerned that tactical voting is going to leave them in 3rd place. Sorry to have a rant but you can't complain about the lack of Labour policies. They wanted to make us the scientific centre of Europe and a world leader in green tech. Liz Truss wrecked that ambition in 6 weeks.
  17. I see very little or no care from the current Government.
  18. That applies to 50% of the population and it's not really a surprise. When I've canvassed I've found that the reasons people vote one way or another are often embedded at a very young age. There are 2 sorts of people in this world. Those who care for others and those who don't.
