1.
There have been many comments attributed to him on here stating he could not play wide in a 442 because of tracking back, not going to dig up quotes or get into rows as Im not criticising others opinions. I dont see him as a winger either, coming in off the wing and linking like Silva does states that. City use Clichy for width.
Yes, not discounting that at all and that''s a very refreshing view - I''d like to see him tried in that sort of role
2. I don''t see Wes as a winger, I actually think the only place he can play is behind the striker(s)...didn''t he play as a winger during the season we gor relegated to league1?
3.
I wouldn''t use Surman until he has had a chance to regain some form/fitness.   I would put KK in for Pilks and Howson in for Tettey.    Becchio to come on for Hoolahan at some stage.
I thought I was being bold with 2 up front...KK coming is even more bold (bolder?)...Might revise my Surman selection with Bennett, but still go for the diamond and ask Pongo & Bennett to play on their respective wings (Benno right, Pongo left)...surely this is a game we can afford to just go for it...?
4. IMO Surman in for Pilks and Becchio in for Tettey, which means we switch to the diamond and 2 up front...of course, I trust Hughton to make the right choice, but what would you do?
5. I thought Bunn had a good game - great penalty save and he looked very assured - I also think that with Camp in reserve we''re blessed with cover until Ruddy is back. Hopefully Rudd will get 1st team games and come back in contention for next season...I think signing Camp until the summer is very astute
6. Ah yes BYG, I meant to mention his clearance off the head of Samba! I think, similarly to Bunn and Turner, that BJ doesn''t always get the credit that he deserves
7. Pongo Snodgrass...think you had to read the Beano, Dandy or something to get that
8. Much maligned and often spoken of in terms of his "spoiler" role in midfield, I thought he was the best and most creative next to Pongo that we had against QPR. I don''t know what it is about Loftus Rd that brings out the best of him, but I thought he was superb on Saturday. He did fulfill his spoiler role, but he also showed a good range of passing and creativity...and he also had a good shot well saved. So, credit to BJ...he was my motm
9. I think Hughton will increase our options in terms of formation, tactics, etc. He''s found a system that, by and large, works for us and he''s developing the squad to enhance that and, I think ultimately, enable us to play varying formations. It''s a little harsh on the players that may leave to call them dead wood - we all know that players come and go, but that does not make them a failure in any way - it''s more to do with who suits the tactics we''re employing and who the manager and his staff rate which is very subjective. Because I have a lot of faith in Hughton I believe that he will change the squad and possibly some fan favourites may leave, but it will be with the aim of strengthening the squad and helping to establish us as a regular premiership team - once this season is out of the way, providing we do stay up, we will be much more financially secure and the spectre of 2nd season syndrom will be gone. Plus, if Hughton gets the chance to add 3 or 4 players of quality to our squad every season, we''ll be much better off playing wise. Unfortunately, Hughton does not have the luxury of bringing in several players in one go...but then perhaps that suits us, so we can retain the team spirit we have had over the last few years.
10. Camp, Becchio and Kamara in whilst Lappin & Morison leave…no “marquee” striker signing, although it sounded like we were pushing for Hooper right to the deadline.   All in all, I’m reasonably happy with what we’ve done: Camp gives Bunn some competition and cover (I don’t think Ruddy will be back playing until close to the end of the season) and it also gave Rudd the chance to go out on loan. Kamara replacing Lappin is also pretty good – Lappin was never seriously going to get used, so I’m happy that we have an unknown quantity who may make an impact than the occasional cover for left mid/ back that Lappin gave us. Becchio for Morison is tricky, as I quite like Morison.  But, let’s face it, he hasn’t really done much since the 1st half of last season, so swapping him with someone who’s scoring goals for fun at the moment is ok with me.  Having seen Holt, Lambert, Le Fondre, Doyle and numerous others make the step up to Premiership football and keep scoring, I’m reasonably confident Becchio will do likewise.   I think we’ve got enough to keep us up and reasonably distant from the bottom 3.   The scenarios for the players we were after will change in the summer, e.g. Hooper will be entering the last year of his contract, etc. Of course, we could have done more, e.g. striker, defender...but generally you don''t revamp your 1st team/squad halfway through the season
11. I was at QPR, WBA and Arsenal last season - each game had Morison scoring and sending us crazy!! Hope it works out for him at Leeds
12.

a Bassong/Davies Centre back pairing with Turner/Bennett able to step in when needed would be fantastic...
Would be a bit harsh on Turner who has put in some immense performances (including last night and the big wins against Man Utd and Arsenal).   The guy just doesn''t get the credit he deserves.
Good and very valid point..I should have just said that in my opinion he''d strengthen our centre back options...of course he''d have to work hard to get in the team and stay there
13. I prefer to be positive and believe and have faith in players that sign for us...of course, it doesn''t always work out that way, but I prefer to have that as my starting point than being down on new signings until they prove they''re worthy of being here But, each to their own...
14. Curtis Davies would be an excellent signing IMO - a Bassong/Davies Centre back pairing with Turner/Bennett able to step in when needed would be fantastic...fingers crossed this may happen Like you say, if we''re in for Davies, we''re probably hedging our bets and are in for another defender too
15. I think we have to face up to the fact that our first team runs on very fine margins...a couple of injuries in any area and we''re struggling.  I think Hughton has the knowledge and vision to help our team evolve into one that can adapt to cope, both in personnel and formations, etc. with whatever life throws at us
16. ...so Kei is now part of the yellow army - let''s give him our full support!!
17. NorwichCityFC on twitter have sated that there will be breaking transfer news at 1630...presumably Kei, but who knows...?
18. It''s natural to wonder/worry about new signings, especially when they might not be that familiar to us.  I remember being particularly puzzled when we signed Russell Martin! I think Hughton''s recruits so far have generally been good, so I''m willing to accept whoever he brings in with an open mind and cheer them on once they wear the yellow shirt as much as anyone else in the team. This is a crucial transfer window for us because I don''t think we should stick with what we''ve got, so I''m also as interested/frantic as the next fan when players are linked to us - it''s gonna be an exciting run up to transfer deadline!
19. I agree. A lot of the transfer window is about holding your nerve and doing deals late in the window when some teams may feel desperate to sign/sell someone. It''s entertaining to see who we get linked to, but I see it purely as that: entertainment.
20. Surely we need flexibility when it comes to formation/tactics - yes, having a lone striker has worked for us this season, but we should also look at other alternatives so we are able to mix it up and not become predictable for the opposition to focus on. If we do sign Hooper, lets hope he''s more Jelovic than Boyd
21. Swansea chairman on bbc website says that Swansea are looking to strengthen, but also that Laudrup will be speaking to fringe players about their futures and whatever that might lead to. I hope they consider Graham a fringe player and I hope we bid for him.  If the £3.5 million mentioned is the price, I''d be v happy to see us sign him. Compared to CMS, I''d take Graham any day
22. I agree that Martin Olsson from BRovers would be a great signing - can play LB and LW...Have seen him linked with someone (Stoke, I think) so may be a realistic target too...that is if Tierney is on the way out
