  1. i''m sure i read a fellow poster mentioning a conversation they had with Doncaster about transfers. The players mentioned where Legwinski who''s wages where too much, so how come he has signed for the scum and McCleod who was too much, yet we offer 2 million for an 18 year old!!! Sorry but things don''t add up!!! I''m sure both could have done a job for us as well as numerous other players who moved yesterday for relativly small fees, but it appears the board are once again getting complacement with FCR selling out each week. I fear though that with a few injuries things could slip back to last seasons performances with the players coming in not being able to play the attractive football the current first 11 are producing.........i so hope i am wrong
  2. lets all hope Earnie and Saf don''t get injured on international duty or the team against Coventry will include Hughes and Thorne (if he is fit)!!!! Did we enquire / make offers for Halford, Vaughan, Brooker, McCleod or did we put all our eggs in one basket? It''s ok though we can get some loan players from Arsenal with Worthy''s contacts......but the better ones have already gone on loan to other Championship sides!!!
  3. all eggs in 1 basket. they knew at 2pm he probably wouldn''t come, where was the plan b???
  4. Yes guys well done....u can have a sandwich at 12.05
  5. We stuck by Leon last season when he had ''personal problems'' and he was ''injured'', surely we would have been well within our rights to tell him to stay until it suited us!!!! If Earnie gets injured he''ll be in the side for a run of games. Now we have Thorne as cover..........Championship defences are trembling!!!!!! Come on city 1 hour 52 mins to retreive the situation.......
  6. So Leon has left and no one is signed to replace him - this is a shocking decision!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What happens if Earnie, Saf or Robbo get injured on International duty - oh i know we''ll waste some more money on loan signings. I can''t believe we have signed 1, yes 1, player this summer, we are second in the league playing attractive football and we still don''t invest in the team. I hope i''m wrong, but if we pick up injuries and return to last seasons pathetic excuse for football at least the board can back the manager by saying we where unlucky with injuries. aaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh............................................
  7. Assuming we get £1.5m + another goalkeeper for Greeno how should we spend that money? I guess we have £500k left over from the Summer budget, meaning we have £2m to spend. I would suggest a move for Greg Halford who would give cover in a number of positions, namely RB, RM and target man. This would cost in the region of £1m. If this is not possible then we should move for Steve Brooker as a target man, again we wouldn''t get much change from £1m. We will still need cover down the left so David Vaughan would provide this as well as being able to play CM. Personally i think if we could get all 3 we would be promotion certainties, but with the funds available i would be more than happy with Halford and Vaughan. Oh and by the way, Good luck Greeno, you go with my best wishes, you have served the club superbly and where an integral part of our Championship winning season, hopefully we can stick a couple past you next season in the Premiership.
  8. Wizard - STOP IT!!!!!! All i want to hear is positive vibes, everybody getting behind the team and then we''ll see how things look in 6 games time. Worthy won''t be sacked now so we might aswell all get used to it, at least in the short term.
  9. Good shout.....but as we have been told there isn''t a plan ''c''. Others who could do a decent job would be Horsfield (Warmock doesn''t want him), Mellor (Would jump at the chance of first team football), Adam Boyd (a link up player who apparently Luton have agreed a fee for and would mean passing the ball), Brooker (Bristol City don''t want to sell him, but if we let Tony Finnegan be his agent he would soon want a move to a higher division). So with McBride we have just formulated plans C,D,E,F and G. Then there is the option where we pass the ball rather than lumping it forward but guess that is plan Z.
  10. No problem yellow, not just aimed at you as you probably guessed!!! It does make you wonder though if players do read these boards? it wouldn''t surprise me in the slightest if they did, maybe not b4 they sign but certainly once they''ve got their feet under the table. Also i am sure these players talk to each other, remember Hucks was at Man City while Croft was a kid, lets hope Hucks tells him everything is sweetness and light and he comes and signs!
  11. christ guys give him a chance!!!!!!!!!!! most of you i''m guessing haven''t seen him play, from the snippets i''ve seen he looked ok. the problem is (and i am a Worthy outer) that everytime something happens too many people want to dismiss it without any background knowledge. if we do sign him and if he is the next andy hughes then i''ll be the first to have a go at the manager, but with all this negativity no wonder we can''t attract players!!! END OF RANT
  12. would have him back in a shot!!! a pay as you play deal would be ideal, whenever he was fit enough to play for Birmingham he was their best player and although he wouldn''t score a load of goals he would create chances for players around him. He''s a proper team player who would also help in both boxes on set-pieces and could fill in at centre-half if needs be. BRING HIM BACK PLEASE, we''ve got nothing to lose.
  13. I know i will be accused of simplifing things but i can''t understand how we cannot compete with Derby to sign a centre forward (regardless if he was the right player for us). Last August we bid 1.5m for Clinton Morrisson to partner Ashton, of that money all we spent was £500k on Etuhu. We then sold Ashton and after various sell on clauses etc where met we cleared in the region of £5.5m of which we invested £3.5m in Earnie all of which means we should have a budget, without this years parachute payment of somewhere in the region of £3m. I don''t buy the fact that this was spent on loan signings as the wages fro Johansson replaced what was paid to Marney (his loan was cancelled in Jan) and the Rehman wages are less i would guess than we would have been paying Morrission. The club then sells another 20,000 season tickets launches 2 new kits and will sell in the region of 12,000 of those, so there is certainly no need to cut back on what is being spent on the playing side of the business. Like i say this is very simplistic, but seems to point to a large hole from where the club is losing money.....or do they just not want to spend it? Have they decided that the Charlton model of which they talked so much is beyond our capabilities and they are happy with us being a top 10 Championship side? The signing of Earnie would suggest not, but was this just to appease the fans and Earnie will go the same way as Deano in January? Only time will tell, but if we do not spend money on decent players now we may have half the first team squad wanting out come January!!!
  14. yes i''m getting bored!!!! can someone please start a rumour about Halford having a medical or Koumas agrees terms or Hulse rejects Sheff Utd for Norwich i''m passed the point of caring if the story is true i just need something to get excited about b4 the season starts
  15. it was my first Norwich match, saw a superb Liverpool side and THAT goal, not a bad introduction to Carrow Rd!!!!
  16. demanded to know what the sphearical item on the floor was for, before NW calmed him down by starting a chorus of ''if you''re happy and you know it..........
  17. Taylor isn''t interested so they have got permission to speak to Billy Davies at Preston. How many more mangers will turn it down before our fantastic manager gets poached by a Premiership team? oh yeh about 71 i guess.
  18. http://www.hartlepoolunited.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Squad/SeniorSquad/0,,10326~10300,00.html read all about him - injured this season with one bad injury, but certainly not injury prone based on his number of appearances last season
  19. you misunderstand!!! yes he is under 6 foot tall but his strength, as Ashton''s was, is to be a goal scorer who can also drop off the front and link the play, therefore allowing Earnie to play on the last man. I really don''t want us to sign a 6 foot 4 striker as this will only encourage more Hoofball. Lets by a striker who can play with his back to goal, can drop of and link up play and will therefore force us to pass the ball. If you want a plan ''B'' for the last 20 minutes stick the Doc or Etuhu up front, but let''s not encourage hoofball from the first whistle!
  20. Why haven''t we been linked with Adam Boyd? Top scorer in league 1 2 seasons ago, missed most of this season injured and as a result Hartlepool have been relegated to League 2. He is back to fitness, would make a good link player with Earnshaw (in the Ashton mould) and scores goals. Luton nearly got him for £500k in Jan transfer window, but i''m sure with Hartlepools relegation means we can get him even cheaper than that. Thoughts?
  21. let''s hope it''s a 48 seater with onboard toilet!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. Just seen that David Thompson (former Liverpool and Blackburn) has been released by Wigan.   Just the sort of player we should look to bring in and solve our right midfield problem. He''s only 28, has plenty of experience and can actually take corners / free kicks so they are threatening. I guess he is another player who will be considered to be ''to injury prone'' or ''his wages will be too much'' or ''his workrates not high enough'' or ''he''s not 6 foot 5 with a good engine'', but surely if we are to turn round the abysmal season that has just finished we need to bring in quality creative players and heres one available on a free! Come on Nigel, get something right please!!!!!!!!!
