1. I''ve just listened to it at Uni, and I get a similar feel.  The guy knows what he wants, he''s talking about bringing in new good players (even if they''re squad) and he''s been given assurances on the amount of money he''s going to get for new players in January.

He certainly seems proud to be the manager and its good to hear that he was the first choice.  I just hope everyone in the club (including the fans) gives the guy a chance, he could develop into a real manager.

What is wrong with trying and failing rather than just failing before trying?
No doubt they have tried and failed, and left it at that.  Singing and dancing about approaching Alan Curbishley, et al and being rejected serves no purpose than to let it be known that whoever we get isn''t our first choice.  Which isn''t good for the club, or for the manager & team.OTBC!Chunky

  3.
Bloody brilliant post, best I have read on here in some time and I agree with everything you say. It''s time for the board to stand up rather than hide away taking the cheap and easy option, and to show a LOT of ambition.
The problem as I see it, is that no matter how much ambition the board give, Alan Curbishley and other top-flight managers aren''t likely to come to Norwich.  If we offer as much money as we can (£2 million maybe?) is that likely to tempt a manager who could be managing a premiership team with a big budget?I can answer that - No!  Alot of people on this board seem to think we''re bigger than we are!  I don''t think it comes down to taking a cheap option, it comes down to being realistic.OTBC!Chunky

  4. "Thing is tho ralph what I can''t understand is that Wigan managed to sign Cotterill all in the space of a day - the lad even left his National squad to go n visit Jewell and have a medical for goodness sake! We''d already been in touch about Mcleod and I''m sure we could have organised thins in order to sign him if the club had been quick off their feet. " - G*

Lots of other clubs managed to sign players quickly, thing is, if Wigan timed it right there is nothing we could have done!  I don''t think you can sit here and say the club messed up the transfer window, if we couldn''t get the players we wanted for sensible prices then I''d rather wait till the window!  Whats the point in gambling our cash on signings we might not even want?  The criticism last season of Worthy that was he panicked and signed crap, and now we haven''t signed anyone, its the other way round?!

McKenzie wanted to go and it was clear he was going, I''m just glad we managed to get £1m for him really!

Getting back to the initial question, not alot.

Livermore is nicknamed the BBC man by the players - balls, bibs and cones. I cannot understand why he is still here or what he offers to the development and progression of the football club - obviously Worthington knows something we don''t?!

If Livermore had any quality as an assistant or coach, surely he would still be employed by Spurs or Liverpool?

    ****************************************************

If we don''t sign anyone, is it really that bad? We could always give the youngsters a chance... [;)]
Can''t you apply that logic to any of our players?  Or other management staff?!

For my money, usually the assistant manager isn''t much of a public manager, look at Tord Grip?  But is someone respected for his counsel by the Manager?

  7. Blah x 3 is right, this is just stupid, we''re taking a quote, probably made in answer to an on the spot question and placing it in the context of Sutton signing for Ipswich?!  This is getting stupid, I admit that Worthy did crap last year, and that any new manager should be brought in at the start of the summer or christmas, but there is no point in changing managers now.  Lets get behind the team and see how things go, then make our mind up, we have a settled team and a good new signing, our first 11 looks good for this level (if we can finally get Etuhu or Robinson to gel with Safri).

Grow up and sort your life out boys, the first game is on Saturday.

  8.
Watching how Wigan and West Ham did so well last season, and how B''ham arent settling for any more than one season in this division - i have lost all faith that our club and board have any ambition at all.
The difference there is the amount of money they have to play with, we can''t spent what West Ham and Wigan do without seriously damaging our finances!  How is an inaccurate, badly written post like this, developing into a thread of doubt about the board!  Aside from not sacking Worthy yet, what the hell have they every done wrong!?OTBC!Chunky

  9. Seems like a perfectly sensible and analytical thread has descended into "I''m a better fan than you", "Students are taxdodging scum" and various other insults.

Whilst I want worthy out, a witchhunt is not the way to go about it, what we need is fair reasoned debate and a mature attitude towards other supporters who might not agree entirely with you.  Things which are becoming sadly lacking on this board in recent weeks.

I''m a student too, in Cumbria of all places, and it costs a hell of a lot to go and watch even a Preston game for me, relative to the amount of money I actually have.  Nobody should be sit there and say, "You can''t comment on a game because you weren''t there", he made a perfectly reasoned debate based on the information he had available, something which seems far beyond the capabilities of some people who actually watched the games at times.

"Worthy Out" Group - A word of warning, you''re quickly, on this board at least, turning into what''s best described as a bunch of munchkins.  I hope that any further "action" organised on your part is more constructive than encouraging people to insult Andy Hughes and Worthington, and actually has a sensible approach to the problem, which is convincing the board that Worthington should leave, by his own accord or by being told.  You need to be very careful who is associated with your group and who isn''t, as it only takes a handful of morons to spoil the effort you''re putting into the petition and suchlike.

  10. I''d say that a larger survey is required this time due to the way you''re running it.  All the people collecting signatures want Worthy out, etc.

I suspect the board are already aware that a significant proportion of fans want him out, which is all this would show, so what effect this would have would be limited.

  11.
I think it''s more to do the players in midfield but either way Worthy has failed to do exactly nothing about it.
I don''t think anyone can try to point the finger anywhere other than directly at Worthy, it just concerns me that this witchhunt isn''t looking at the problems any new manager will face, it seems the mere change of manager is believed to be all we need.

  12.
As you are aware www.worthyout.co.uk conducted a survey before Mondays game and will be doing the same before the Wolves game.

These are the results so far.

    OUT 372
    ABSTAINED 5
As more of the pages come in they will be updated.
Hardly seems a good sample of the supporters, how many more sheets are you expecting?  I''d reason that 10% of a matchday crowd (3000) would be a good sample.

The long ball which I favour used sparingly is a good surprise tactic if accurate and to the feet.  You have all seen that our defence has been in trouble many times over such a ploy.  Ian Crook was a great exponent of the shrewd long pass as well as his many other attributes we have all been privileged to witness.  Though Mulryne has often been mentioned in the same breath,  he was, and is not in the same league, especially when reading the game.  Win the ball in midfield and we stand a good chance of winning the game.!!!!
Exactly!  The long ball tactic can work, even to Earnshaw if you play it over the top for him to run on to.  Too many people are oversimplifying the issue, its going to take time to create a working midfield with players who know each other and when we change the manager things may not come together immediately.

Its my greatest fear that the sacking/resignation of Worthy may lead to a period of instability where (a) new manager(s) aren''t given time to settle leading to more resentment by the fans.

It''s the hoofball culture, pure and simple, absolutely no question at all. Keep in mind Nigel''s vision of how the game should be played - to him the midfield is a blunt instrument to be bypassed on the way out of defence and used to attempt to batter the opposition to death, not a knife with which to carve them open. Like you, I don''t think any of our current crop of midfielders are particularly gifted in the ball playing department, but I would say in their defence that they are given zero opportunity to prove us wrong.
I honestly can''t believe that any manager at this level believes in the long ball to a midget alien striker, and in the past we have played flowing football through the midfield, both in the tail end of the premiership season and in the promotion season.

Worthington is not an appalling manager, he does know how to setup a good team, its just he can''t put right whats going wrong with our team at the moment.
