Coventry Looking To Buy Mark Fotheringham
CanaryJames replied to NeonYellow's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Now I am no fan of Mark Fotheringham, but to categorise him in the same bracket as a person like Marlon King is pretty disgraceful in my opinion. I''m not saying I liked his attitude. I thought he was arrogant, and someone that summed up the ''ugly'' nature of our club back then. However, likening him to King - who was convicted of some extremely unpleasant and serious stuff, and did time for it - is miles off. -
Bradley Johnson (if he signs) can ''do a job'' at left-back, and I know a few Leeds fans who think that''s his best position. We have no need to keep Smith with Tierney/Drury/Lappin/Johnson (potentially), but if we can''t shift him then he''ll just run down his contract.

You can't sign players in June!
CanaryJames replied to When Saturday Comes's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
We haven''t signed anyone in June ;) -
Going purely on what he''s said, I can''t see him not agreeing a contract extension, but still good news for us... http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-news/football/premier-league/transfer-rumours/7797/9/arsenal-warn-lansbury-he-faces-emirates-exit

Away ticket prices at QPR next season
CanaryJames replied to Jim Smith's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
QPR would have been one of the least ''desirable'' matches anyway. They won''t sell any tickets if they''re pricing them like that. -
Now in talks with Snodgrass?
CanaryJames replied to First Wizard's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Undoubtedly talented, but has serious fitness issues in my opinion - the last two season he''s tailed off massively post-Christmas. Still, it''d irritate Leeds fans immensely if we got him, so yes please! -
Hardly unexpected, but fully deserved! Make it three years running next year please! Congratulations!

For £1.25million, I''d happily see us snap him up. He''s improved massively from the one-dimensional player he was earlier in his career. I''d prefer Shane Long, but you can''t argue with 12 Premier League goals at that price. If we could get him/Long and Nugent (and maybe one more forward), I''d be very happy with our attacking options.

Jason Scotland will be interested in this... Or he''ll get distracted by a lovely pie in the corner and waddle of. -
When will the first signing be made?
CanaryJames replied to jed exodous's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Drury signed a one-year extension (until next summer) in November I believe? I personally couldn''t care less what we did against Dereham to be honest. The priority was always the league, and while I fully agree that players could (and perhaps should) have ''made a point'' in the Dereham match, McNamee proved against Watford what he can bring to the squad. I''d keep him as back-up for another year, but try and bring in a ''90 minutes'' winger (Bennett) as well. -

Drury needs to kept, even if he''s not first-choice. We''ve only got to look back to see where we went wrong last time... I see no reason why we should get rid of McNamee. Again, he won''t be first choice, but his introduction at Watford turned the game at a vital stage of the season. He could be a useful squad player. Wilbraham may also stay. Won''t be a regular, but provides another cheap option. Hughes will also stay I imagine, although will be a fringe player again. Gill, Daley, Askou, Tudor-Jones (if we can move him on) will probably all leave. -

First signing last year was Crofts on May 21st, so I''d imagine some time round then? -
I can see him ending up on loan to Brighton next season. Not a million miles away from where he''s from (although admittedly some distance), and they''ll be looking for an extra striker or two for their Championship season. A move to the Championship would suit us perfectly, and factor in that we could use it as bargaining to get Elliot Bennett (who I believe we will try to sign once more), and it seems plausible no?
-
I believe they did. It was a stupid thing to do, and was never going to end well. If the roles were reversed, I don''t think we''d have even considered it.

Easy 6 points? Sorry, won''t you have to actually score against us before you think about winning? Enjoy League One!

FA postpone decision on QPR
CanaryJames replied to steve b's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
All I know is we can 100% start planning for the Premiership now. No other team in the Championship can do that for some time at this rate. Equally, several Premiership teams won''t be able to ''prepare (again) for the Premiership until they are guaranteed safety. This could really benefit us, as we can get ourselves 2/3/4 weeks ahead in preparation (i.e. signings/etc) of a good 5 or 6 of our opponents next year. -
Green was a superb player for us, and stuck around for a good dozen or so years. We got good money for him (although a fraction of his true worth back then in my opinion), and he''s definitely one player I don''t begrudge moving on. He is a Norwich legend. However, I don''t want him back. Primarily for the sole reason that I think he''s as good as finished (which is very sad, as he''s meant to be a lovely guy) and Ruddy will be better than Green is now. That said, I do think we need an experienced back-up, so if Green wanted to slash his wages and was prepared to not be guaranteed first-choice, then you''d have to see?
-
First off, before we focus too much on who we will sign, we need to make sure we keep the right people. Simon Lappin for instance, almost certainly won''t be first choice next year. However, I see absolutely no reason why he''d want to leave this club now after all he''s been through, and we MUST keep him. He sums up everything about will, desire and determination. Likewise, Adam Drury may have limited opportunities. As he''s been here so long, we should respect his wishes if he wants guaranteed first team football elsewhere, but otherwise I''d love him to stick around. Think he''ll make a cracking coach in a few years, so maybe we can get him doing his badges (if he wants) over the next season as well?

Players you would like to see come in next season
CanaryJames replied to DEL123's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Kieron Westwood (Free) - Very good back-up for Ruddy, and would allow Rudd/Steer to be loaned out. Shane Long (Free) - Would be a fantastic signing on a free. David Nugent (Free) - As above really. Neil Kilkenny (Free) - Could be direct back-up/competition for Fox as a deep play-maker. Think we''d need a more classic ''break-up'' player in as well though. Darren Pratley (Free) - Again, a good player in for free. Elliot Bennett (£2million) - Think this will happen, and I hope it does too! After that you''d hope we''d have enough cash leftover to make a couple more signings. An extra centre-back and a versatile full-back being priorities. -
Well, was it deliberate or not?
CanaryJames replied to Alex Moss's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Looks very deliberate. Nice to see how ''flooring'' a woman lines(wo)man is more important than actually playing football to them. Thank you very much for having such fantastic priorities! -
There are a lot of rumours in Sheffield that Evans coming here in the summer is already a done deal. I''ll wait and see, as I''d be slightly surprised we were sorting deals before we know where we''re going to be playing. However, as we''d get him at a knock-down price, I think he''d be a reasonable signing for whatever division.
