  1. sorry that''s rubbish, do you honestly believe that Wolves, Leicester, Sheff Wednesday and United, Southampton, Coventry, Bristol City etc have a history of attracting the same level of support that we still enjoy. I suggest you go back and check. this is the same old excuse about these areas being heavily populated. True, and they have all got neighboring clubs on their doorsteps. Look at poor old wolves - they''ve got WBA/Birmingham/Aston Villa/Wallsall/Coventry/Shrewsbury/Leicester, or Sheff Wed - Sheff Utd/Leeds/Doncaster/Derby/Bradford/Notts Forest and it ain''t far from Sheffield to Manchester! We''ve got....now let''s see - Ipswich and Colchester plus that massive Cambridge Utd, oh hang on they''re now non - league. We do not have to be small, you are just helping to perpetuate the myth! there are enough people living in Norfolk and Suffolk to regularly give us a 35000 attendance, we''re getting 25000 now to watch absolute crap!   OTBC - Norwich potentially a massive club.
  2. thats the same wolves and charlton who get smaller home attendances than us then? another post enforcing the "little norwich" myth! if you consider them to be massive clubs what word do you use for arsenal and man utd? By the way Arsenal and Man U were clubs that we were beating round about the time the prem came into being and before total incompetant management of the club brought us to where we are now.
  3. I am in block c of the lower Barclay, I am up for a one match boycott, if we can get some support for it, a 60 mile round trip for me to watch the current tripe is worth giving a miss for once anyway!
  4. I don''t think the worst thing is the signings. Yes we have been told the usual rubbish about not much cash available and players won''t come to the area, however the players we have brought in have either done reasonably well, ie Otsemobor, or come with pretty good reputations ie Brellier, Cureton and Strihavka. It is also true that a lot of new signings take time to bed in. However having seen the three home games and Hull away, the team do not seem to have a clue how to play together, nor are there any discernible tactics or game plan. It''s also unforgivable that we did not get a decent centre half, in the close season, and we have been playing the divisions most clueless striker in Brown upfront. We did not manage to get a centre half for the usual Norwich reason, we will have been trying to get decent players for peanuts. What is true is that we have at least as good if not better players than Ipswich or Colchester for example, however Grant has no idea how to use them. And can we please get rid of Doncaster asap, so that we don''t have to look at his smug face and listen to him quoting the need for careful spending, as we head for Div 1. In summary, Doncaster out, Grant out, Col Utd management team in and find a Norfolk millionaire with some spare cash. Listening to some of the Chelsea fans rubbishing Abramovitch on Talksport how about we all petition him to come to Norwich, where his millions would really be appreciated!
  5. Why is it that if anyone posts a message critical of those in charge it is automatically assumed to come from a binner? To me it is a heel of a lot more loyal to want a better future for the club than to settle for putting up with what we are being fed at the moment. Would you rather have Fowler and Hasselbaink playing for us or against us today? You can post critical messages on the board and still cheer the team at the match you know? How to spot a binner - They will be very happy with us not spending money, they will write messages praising Robert Chase, they wont post after 10pm (bedtime) and they wont be able to spell long words very well... OTBC
  6. Not a force in this league and never have been? That included the year we won it does it? With attitudes like that we never will be a force again. Fact - we have one of the biggest fan base in this league, we have one of the lowest debts in this league, the only reason we are not a major force is due to the people in charge. And the rare occasion that we did show some ambition ie buying Hucks when most people thought that was beyond us, did it not bring us rewards? 1/ Proper and intelligent investment brings rewards 2/ Lack of ambtion means no success 3/ Think small and you will stay small Norwich City FC - In the right hands would draw major support throughout Cambs/Lincs/Norfolk & North Suffolk because unlike in most other areas there is no competition from other clubs, ie the only thing stopping us from being a major foce is the "little Norwich attitiude" lack of ambition and comments like "we are not a force in this league and never have been"
  7. Having just surfaced from the nightmare yesterday, for anyone who didn''t go this is my opinion. Having followed city for 33 years this would rank as being in the worst 5 performances ever for me. We were well and truly mugged by a team of cloggers led by a 40 year old bloke who looked like he would weigh in at least 15 stone. There was no game plan, no discernable tactics, just hoof the ball upfield and give possession back to the opposition. With the possible exception of a couple of forward runs from Otsemobor (apologies if misspelled) we did not have a clue. Also the quietest I have ever heard during the game from what was a very decent sized city following. A noisy northern ground is a very lonely place to be when you have nothing to cheer about, Dion''s stirike excepted, and it was nice to see that the Hull fans still think it''s 1973 and opposing fans are supposed to have a scrap after the game. I heard a woman saying after the game that she thought we were worth a point and would have laughed if I wasn''t so depressed, we honestly could have lost 4 or 5 - 1. I know I have previously banged on about lack of ambition by the board, however contrast this with Colchester who lost their best players, have no money to invest and yet still walloped Preston 3 - 0, putting our result firmly into perspective. What the hell is going on?????? I sincerley hope for all our sakes it is just a question of all the new signings needing time to gel, and for all  oursakes we need the Huckster back and quick!
  8. Thank Christ for a voice of reason! Well said NCFC1, totally agree with every point you have raised, looking at a LOT of the other messages received, some of the fans are like lambs to the slaughter. OTBC and Hull here we come!
  9. Partly right, in that at least you are not fooled like some of the fans who are so easily satisfied (fooled?). This guy sounds like a useful addition, but he should be in addition to some more players who we should have shown some ambition (and a cheque book if required) to sign. Where you are right in my opinion, is that we are without doubt being conned by those in charge -  Cheapskates with no ambition and no idea of how to compete in todays market. We have got some good players in this year, we should have been able to get  two or three more with the money that should have been in the transfer kitty rather than the bank. Perhaps Mr Doncaster will be brave enough to come on the board and explain the sums which show that Grant has received all the transfer money received to spend again?
  10. no thanks! bloke was an absolute nightmare, used to end up with nerves in shreds listening to his lunatic commentary. Good riddance.
  11. Sorry biggleyellow , to a certain extent you are missing the point, for example I am a very positive City fan, however I would be only too happy to get rid of the current board if someone came along with some real cash. If we really want to nail the little Norwich myth then the board needs to think bigger and have a lot more ambition. That doesn''t mean being stupid ala Leeds Utd. We should be shouting from the rooftops that this could be a big club, certainly bigger than  medicore clubs like Middlesborough or Southampton. How about a concerted campaign by as many City fans as poss to either phone or text TalkSport every Saturday evening, bombard them with info about how every games a sellout, size of the away following and stuff like the clubs ripe for investment etc etc. I don''t think anyone on here actually hates the team, but people show their frustrations in different ways, I genuinely believe the board and Doomcaster would be happy with a mid table position this year, but it ain''t anywhere near good enough for me, especially when a couple more quality players could be the difference between going up or not. OTBC and bring on the Saints!
  12. very well said and spot on, especially re the parachute payments. If it''s right that Doomcaster and co do check out the message boards this is at least one avenue to make them aware that we are not thrilled with their performance.
  13. Tons of cash is everything  because it''s a business, unfortunately these days, thanks to Sky, That is unless you are happy fighting relegation in the Championship each season. I don''t care if we get money  from a Liverpool supporter, from the Russian Mafia or an Albanian Mass Murderer, as long as it helps the club. Tons of cash is everything and you will not get to the Prem without it, and personally that''s where I would like us to be. And if you do get there you have to spend even more. Sunderland just signed a keeper for 9 million, can you ever imagine us doing that, yet we support the club better than even the supposed die hards in the North East. That''s why we need a major investor, someone with the vision of how big the club could be. In terms of supporting the club, I have a season ticket, I will be at the Barnet game on Tuesday night, and I will be the one at Hull with "Brellier" on the back of my NCFC shirt. I also have a bet on us going up at 9 to 1, although I note that there are shorter odds on us to get relegated.  I love this club, but we deserve better. If we had signed Sharp or Eastwood, plus Davenport or similar then I think we would have a fighting chance of automatic promotion, as it is we will have to overachieve to make the top 6. The Huckster could see it and so should we all be able to.
  14. So in other words playing for Norwich in your view is not worth moving house for? In which case as we are in the wilds of Norfolk we haven''t got much chance of attracting anyone in the future then, unless they already live close to Carrow Rd! The club reps should be out there convincing them how much better it is living in Norfolk than scummy old Stoke or Preston, and how much better our club is than either of those, make no mistake if the terms were right we would have those players but we always want it on the cheap. Billy Sharp to Sheff Utd from Scunthorpe, moving house do you reckon? Or Freddie Eastwood to Wolves from Southend? McLeod from MK Dons to Charlton?  I bet we''ve got more season ticket holders than Sheff Utd, Wolves or Charlton....but we think so small
  15. How much more evidence do you need concerning falling behind? Norwich want Darren Carter, no he prefers to sign for Preston. Norwich want Ryan Shawcross, no he prefers to go to Stoke. Now neither of these are that great but we couldn''t get them, when we came up against the mighty Preston or Stoke City. That''s because the opposition were prepared to offer better terms and were more serious about getting them. Neil (Mr Prudent, Mr Cautious, Mr Boring, Mr Mediocre) Doncaster''s hand no doubt is all over this. Enough of the people who run this club are quite happy to see us stumble along mid table in the Championship. Why do they feel the need to do more, we are still filling the ground and buying plenty of football shirts. They are terrified of reaching the premier league because they are utterly incapable of thinking at that level. I am sick to death that clubs such as Wigan, Fulham, Charlton, Reading, Portsmouth, Bolton, Blackburn are regarded are regarded as "big clubs" and we are regarded as "little friendly homely Norwich" and so should everybody else. There''s a big football club hiding at Carrow Rd with the capacity to completely dominate football in the East of England, with the ability to draw 35,000 fans every other week. Stand up, stick your chest out, and demand it! OTBC
  16. who is holding it back? The people in charge simply do not have enough money, vision and ambition to match the supporters. Its an old chestnut but we do have one of the best sets of supporters in the country, and we deserve a board to match that. Delia is truly a very nice person, having met her several times on away trips, but she is nowhere near rich enough in these crappy times when unfortunately it''s only the big bucks count. We are falling behind, and whilst I believe this years squad has a better all round look to it, other teams have strengthened more than we have (and still no centre half cover) Look at the players we have gone for an missed over the years, and yet when someone comes calling for ours we roll over and give in every time, right back from Kevin Reeves, through Chris Sutton, Craig Bellamy to Dean Ashton and Robert Earnshaw, and there are dozens more. If you want to see a Norwich City side playing fantastic football and scaring the pants off the opposition then grab one of the season review videos from the early 90''s. We are a long way off being anywhere near that good but that''s what we need to aspire to. Anyone know a Norfolk billionaire?
  17. Thanks so much mate, for offering us your 5th or 6th choice defenders. We are so grateful for the scraps from your table now that you have got a rich sugar daddy. On the other hand with your points deduction and going on past form as a yo yo club at best, the championship will soon be welcoming back the not so happy hammers.
  18. New team would win, slightly better in defence, much better in midfield and more balanced upfront, I actually think Grant looks to have done very well in the transfer market, as mentioned by others he looks to be getting the sort of players who want to play for the club as opposed to those who just want to pick up the wages
  19. Good to have him back but not the best signing. That will be going to Julien Brellier. This guy looks an absolute steal, Talk Sport couldn''t believe he signed for us instead of a Prem club. He will be a God and we are on course for the play offs minimum now. OTBC and let''s get the show started!
  20. you would be suprised! There are colleagues I work with both in the city and in Gt Yarmouth & Lowestoft  that are season ticket holders, who sadly would rather do a 200 mile round trip than go to Carrow Rd. What''s worse is that some of them used to support their local team but got  fed up with the sort of news we have been hearing over the last few days. I am not sticking up for them, I think it''s pretty tragic to see a Man U supporter with a Norfolk accent. Here''s the thing though, Dickson isn''t that great a player, and frankly 2 million would be good money for Safri, IF, and this is the worlds biggest IF, the club ploughed all the money back into new signings. Problem is, it never ever happens. This club has the most fantastic loyal support, home and away, most of us I think believe at the very least we should be on the fringes of the Premier League, at the least if not in the Prem then in the play offs, but other clubs are more ambitious or they manage to get people in who are willing to plough in the big bucks.  We need a benefactor not a business plan. I was lucky enough to see us in Munich and Milan, and beating the likes of Everton 5 - 1 away. I would like to think we might achieve something like this again in my lifetime.
  21. YES. He and the rest of the board (as per previous boards) fail to match the ambition or support of the fans. Once again we will have 20000 season ticket holders watching probably pretty average football this season. Compare this against most of the other championship teams, many so called big clubs and we come out very favourably. Then imagine we had aN ambitious board, prepared to create the environment where our best players want to stay, and then add further quality players around them. Every year brings a new false dawn, we hear great things about players like Brellier arriving, only to then find other players being allowed to leave. The comments on this subject regarding mismanagement over the years are spot on. How on earth did we manage to get to a situation where clubs like - Wigan/Portsmouth/Bolton/Fulham/Reading/Birmingham  etc etc are all regarded as bigger clubs than Norwich City F.C. A succesful and ambitious Norwich City side could fill a 35000 stadium every week. Aks most of the many Norwich based Man Utd/Chelsea/Arsenal etc etc fans why they do not support their local team and they will say because there has never been any ambition from those running the club. Finally thank you Darren Huckerby for having to guts to speak up.
