Don't forget that Adegboyega is also progressing along said conveyor belt pretty quickly... -
Actually, sacking Pulis and being more creative improved them. Their highest finish under Pulis was 13th I believe, and their first three seasons without him saw them finish 9th for three consecutive years. Their downfall was signing several big name players on high wages all at once that were only interested in the money and couldn't give a toss about what happened on the pitch. To be honest, I don't think I'd keep Giannoulis regardless of division. If we don't go up, I think it'd take a big wage for him to stay, and I don't think that would be justified when McCallum is no worse and would presumably be prepared to stay on less money. If we went up, we'd need an upgrade as I don't think either are good enough to be first choice in the Premier League. Maybe McCallum would be worth a new deal as a cheap backup, but we'd need a new first choice.

I was thinking about this the other day and came to exact same conclusion of the five who are good enough and the two who are borderline. I'd also be sure to keep Barnes, Stacey, Duffy and Hanley as experienced heads to provide backup and leadership as they'd all still be under contract. Beyond that, there'd be a lot of work to be done.

Watford 😂 😂

To be fair, Watford actually gave Ismael quite a bit of time considering the results. Probably the first time in a decade that they've been too patient with a manager. -
Agreed. His record in the Netherlands was solid, but that league is notorious for producing attackers who score loads but then flop elsewhere. His record in Portugal was good, but he was playing up front for a big club who create a lot of chances, and he did score a hell of a lot of penalties which always window-dress goalscoring records somewhat.

Have we? I know he's played as a ten, but has he played on the right? It certainly worked today, and it also allowed us to play Nuñez and Kenny in midfield with Barnes keeping his place. It was a very fluid system which you can get away with against a team like Rotherham, but it would be interesting to see how it goes against a side like Leicester, for example.

I've seen quite a lot of Bologna this season and I did say this just before we signed him: It's looking like the same old story here, unfortunately. He did well in the Netherlands when he was playing every week, but he seems ineffective as an impact sub and anonymous when he starts after not playing much. If Sargent gets injured, god forbid, he might start to play himself into form or fitness, but in that situation we're probably screwed anyway. Hopefully I've just tempted fate and he pops up with a late winner against Ipswich in the playoff semis... We play much better with Barnes in the team and I don't think it's a coincidence. -
Appeal.

Let's not forget that he did leave the refereeing profession for a couple of years after he made a video mocking disabled people. -
Playing v 10 men

I'm not sure how Sargent, Barnes and Fassnacht all work together with ten men. I would've taken off Fassnacht, brought on a centre back, let Stacey and Giannoulis provide the width in a 3-4-1-1. It's similar to what Wagner did away at West Brom and it nearly worked. -
REFEREE

Whilst I think we should appeal and have a very good case, I doubt that the initial tackle would have any bearing on it. Even if a player gets hacked down with two feet, they'd still be sent off if they got up a pushed a hand towards the opponent's face.
