1. Having seen the ''reductions'' in prices for their Category A games ie the big teams, they are still charging outrageous prices compared to other low end teams. The headline will be the free for under 8''s, which will deflect somewhat from the fact that yes prices are being reduced, but still remain at a level that seem will still price out their casual fans from attending.
2. Nonsense to say it helps releagted clubs boucne back straight away. Hasn''t helped Burnley, Hull or Portsmouth....or Middlesborough before that. Norwich and Swansea have beaten these richer sides comfortably last season. Just shows the parachute payment is merely aimed at keeping clubs in business and not giving them an advantage to get back up, because that rarely happens.
3. I think any team looking to stay up needs at least 2 away wins, providing the home form is solid. Hard to really say though, Blackpool went down with 5 away wins i think, and i think Fulham once stayed up having only won once away from home. Hopefully we can get an early win on the road, considering we didnt win one last time we were here, it could become a bit of a talking point and weigh us down a bit. I expect/hope 2 or 3 wins this season away anyway, also key to pick up a few draws on the way as well. Then hopefully our main bulk of points will come at FCR, enough to get to that elusive 40 point mark.
4. Where did you get this info, is there a link for it? If true, are the club actually planning on telling us all of this? No parking after 5.30 for midweek certainly sounds strange!
5. Fans need to get used to this, they may not like it but games will get moved due to opponents involvement in Europe and cup replays etc at short notice. Anyway I will be supporting Stoke tonight. Will be a big advantage to our chances of beating them if they have to play a european game 3 days before ours, possibly away from home in eastern europe. It may inconvenience a few fans but what would you prefer, to watch the game and see Norwich lose, or not being able to make it and for Norwich to win?
6. Quite frankly some fans are idiots, who are at their most content when they have something to moan about. The last two friendlies against our continental friends will be the ones I pay close attention to. As has been posted Palace are ahead in terms of fitness and prep as they kick off earlier, as will be the case with southend and coventry. And it''s not as if we played badly last night, sounded like a great workout and our 1st proper serious match to get us back in the groove. Finally a good pre season has no bearing on the real thing, just look back 2 years ago, we beat Palace at their place, then beat Wigan at home.....fans were optimistic of Norwich under Gunn, then what happened?
7. Why do people offer up watching games on sky as being some sort of equal alternative to not watching games in the flesh? Even if every Norwich game was on tv I would never imagine just not bothering paying to go even if it was cheaper than a season ticket. Its completely different going to the games, you get the atmosphere and more importantly you can see the whole game, all the players and how the team is working together. All that is lost on TV where the focus of the lense is on the ball and not on how the players are working together when not in possession or not on the ball. Plus I''d be disappointed with the club if they offered tickets way below the market rate for the league, as we would just be damaging ourselves by limiting our revenue potential. With the demand being so high for such limited supply of casual tickets its absolutely right to charge high, not doing so would be madness. Its the price of success, the same fans who are angry at the high prices would be angry paying league one prices as it means the club were playing sh*te.
8. In response to the opinions that Cody wouldnt accept a new contract and a championship club wouldnt want him on loan, firstly Peterborough clearly want him so why don''t we loan him to them, push aside the dislike we have for the club. And secondly I think Cody would sign a new deal on the basis of an increased salary and with there being a reasonable release clause in his contract of around £1.5million, which you would expect to be met if he had a decent season with goals in the championship
9. Do you seriously think Lambert wouldnt have a sub keeper on the bench thecanaryfan?! That would be incredibly risky/reckless, what if Ruddy gets injured or sent off?! it would be game over with no sub keeper. Baffled with that suggestion
10. Signing more than 10 players is pretty steep, 7-8 is about right i think. Strengthen the squad with more quality to cope with the demands of premiership football. Maybe one more defender as we seem a bit short of cover there. I am not worried by our defence, in terms of quality individually none of our defenders are bad at all, its more down to the style of football we play that leads to a few too many goals being conceded. I think we''ll set up with a tad more caution next season which will see us having a better defensive record as a result.
11. Extend his contract, loan him to championship club for the season, hopefully score 15+ goals, next season he''s worth £1.5-2million. Thats the way i''d do it
12. Very disappointing program, watching it you would never of known Norwich got promoted or were one of the most entertaining sides with so many last gasp winners. In the round up of the months december to february they only featured the cardiff home match and burnley away, and had no mention of our 5-1 at Ipswich either. Whilst the 2nd best team in the league were being ignored, the likes of Cardiff, Forest and Leicester were having pretty much every one of their matches featured. I wouldnt recommend watching this to anyone, you''ll only get annoyed by how little coverage Norwich get
13. I''m backing this kid to have a similar impact in Premier League to what Matt Jarvis has with Wolves. Both excellent with both feet with an eye for goal, and bought from the lower leagues. Great potential and will surprise the ''pundits'' who will immediately write him off due to a lack of premier league experience. Hopefully he can get fully fit from his injury during pre season to hit it off from the beginning. Well played NCFC!
14. Premiership experience is bullsh*t, Wes Hoolahan doesnt have Premiership experience but would you swap him for Luis Boa Morte who has played Premiership all his life? I wouldnt. All players have to start somewhere, most don''t start in the Premiership, doesnt mean they are not Premeirship standard they just havent got a break to play at that level. I am not concerned with experience, quality is more important, who cares if they have played in the Prem or not, as long as they have the talent to play our style of play and does what Lambert wants him to do. Relating to this Quinn tart comparing us to Blackpool, i dont see much similarity at all. We finished 2nd, they scraped into 6th, collecting 15 fewer points than us. We have a much bigger budget for transfers and wages, plus whilst we may be buying players outside of the premiership, we have bought the stand out players from lower league sides, ie Bennett and Morison, whereas Blackpool were desperately buying anyone on the cheap who couldnt even get in the side, ie Puncheon. Theres no real comparison other than both sides got promoted, the whole approach is different.
15. Its the same for lettering and numbers on the back of shirts, I believe they are also smaller than what the players have. Well that was the case a couple of years ago, i assume it remains the case. Think it was to ensure that actual match worn shirts could be distinguised from replicas
16. Regarding free online streaming, not everyone has a fast enough internet connection for online streams to work with interruption. I usually give up trying to watch football online as the picture stops then i end up missing a goal or the website gets taken down. For me it will either be Sky/ESPN for away live matches or the radio, the online streaming experience always frustrates me
17. They wont be drawing the games FA Cup style, that is just nonsense. Last year the 1st batch of games were announced early july so i expect by end of week they will be revealed. There is a minimum amount of times each team has to be shown live, the exact number i cannot remember. Stokes european involvement won''t have any impact on that game being chosen. As a prediction I reckon Chelsea away will be our 1st live game
18. This is very disappointing of the club I think, how can the club claim to own ''On the Ball''?! I guess this is the downside of the new tough, strong board we have. Great when its standing firm on keeping players and managers, but this is an unfortunate downside of their tough approach to all things Norwich City. All seems very unneccessary tho, no way any customer would think that the drink would be directly affiliated with the club
19. Mine arrived in post this morning, really like it an improvement on last years kit i think. Good quality material, very light feeling. Delighted the club chose Errea instead of adidas as some fans called for, compared to Swansea''s dull, generic kit we''ve got a unique kit design and i love the retro look to it. As for those who have been suggesting you need to buy a size up from last years, I havent found this to be the case, i would say its a looser fitting shirt than the previous one.
20. For all those who wanted adidas to make Norwich''s kit, look at Swansea''s and say you would have still wanted them to make our kit. Great move by the club getting a supplier who would tailor a kit to what the club wanted, not some basic generic kit that adidas produce for their lower ranked clubs. Errea 1 - 0 Adidas
21. I would very much like to move this thread back on topic.......................has anybody else who pre ordered it not had it arrive in the post today or was it just me? jealous of all these fans wearing it with pride on this glorious day
22. my advice would be never presume any game will be played on a saturday until sky confirm their 1st batch of games.
23. i aint writing us off or saying we''ll go down, but we couldnt really of been dealt a worse run in than that! what a way to survive tho if we win a couple of those
24.
It seems pretty obvious why Cardiff did not get automatic promotion or even promotion via the play-offs. If Norwich are going to sign 7, 8 or 9 new players who are all (presumably) better that the current Norwich team members one has to ask why did the old Norwich team try so hard to get promoted. At least half of them are going to loose their jobs!
you shouldnt forget that for all but holt, hoolahan, russell martin adn whitbread, after promotion from league 1 we signed a whole new team more or less, yet lambert somehow managed to integrate them all in a way that seemed as if there werent wholesale changes, of which there were plenty. no room for sentiment in this game, squad depth as well is crucial in the prem, the option of a short loan deal in november to cover injuries isnt the case now
