1. Talk about an overhaul - is anyone left? [:P]Staff who have left Norwich since Stuart Webber was appointed: Alan Irvine (Caretaker Manager)Frankie McAvoy (First-team Coach)Dean Kiely (goalkeeping coach)Ricky Martin (Technical Director)Nick Davies (Head of Sports Science)Stuart Wardle (Head Physio)Adam Hearn (Strength and Conditioning)Lee Darnborough (Head of Scouting)Tony Spearing (Head of Football Recruitment)Donald Barron (Head of Technical Scouting)Richard Money (Academy Manager)Ross Hollinworth (Academy Head of Sports Science)Gregg Broughton (Head of Academy Recruitment)Darren Huckerby (Under-23 Assistant)Phil Church (Head of Academy Coaching)Ali Colman (Head of Foundation Phase Coaching)
2. I like listening to Stuart Webber, because he''s very candid, and he''s prepared to share the thinking that''s brought him to make various decisions. I think it''s way better than the usual PR fluff.Bearing in mind that Tettey is 32 at the end of the season, and Hoolahan will be 36, both with contracts expiring. Klose will be 30, Jerome will be nearly 32, Naismith nearly 32, Matt Jarvis(lol) 32 all with a year left on their contracts. Some expensive liabilities there. So there''s still a lot of work to overhaul the squad.
3.
Playing devil''s advocate really, but nothing in Lappin''s ''tale'' really suggests Roeder did anything to him that hasn''t been done by hundreds of other managers to hundreds of other players. Lappin didn''t want to be seen as a player just picking up his wages and not player, but ultimately that is what he was, he admits he turned down other offers and didn''t want to return to Kilmarnock. Imagine if Matt Jarvis did that now, refused to leave and just wanted to keep getting paid at Norwich when the club have said they want him to leave. Would everyone who supports Lappin support Jarvis? Would they all say ''he just loves the club and the area, shows he is a great guy''? I highly doubt it.
But at least Lappin had a great season in League One, and for two thirds of the Championship season until Surman finally settled. He probably didn''t leave because of the money, but after his later performances I don''t begrudge him.Don''t forget that supposedly we had a loan deal agreed with Sunderland for Naismith, which broke down because of personal terms. Roeder would have had him training with the kids after that.Plenty of players have come out with Roeder stories. Especially Huckerby, who had the agreement  to let him use the facilities torn up after Roeder heard Huckerby had given his honest opinion of him to Stefanovic before he signed.
4.
We wanted a change and had a clear out with big wages gone and inexpensive players coming in. Looks like Farke has done well with the midfield and Gunn has comfortably replaced Ruddy too.
But, but , but, everyone told me they were cheap so they can''t be any good [:P]Trybull at 24 on a free is looking like daylight robbery after getting £5-6 million for Howson at 29.
5. Just saw the Sky highlights - If Middlesborough could head the ball, they''d have had three or four. Made it easy for Gunn.
6.
If only someone like Webber was brought in after our first relegation instead of an uncommitted, totally unsuitable Royle. AN doesn''t know how to assemble a team but he''s a pretty decent manager, under a DoF type I feel he''d do extremely well
We appointed Steve Stone as Managing Director, who by his own admission, doesn''t know anything about the football business. But whilst David McNally clearly had a eye for the qualities of a successful manager (not necessary a successful manager, just the qualities they needed to possess), I don''t see a huge difference between him and Steve Stone. It surprises me the number of threads about selling out to a foreign owner, or lack of investment, yet no criticism of McNally''s final three years operating with the dismal recruitment of Ewan Chester, Barrie Simmonds and finally Lee Darnborough. Starting with RVW, we didn''t stop the rot until Webber came in.
7. My revised prediction is that DCB will start at least 20 negative threads before the end of the season [:P]
8.
Good to hear you being positive, Highland [Y]
His account''s been hacked. You couldn''t make it up.
9.
Formerly in charge of the academy Hudds are supposedly considering scrapping as it hasn''t produced a single first team regular for them. Hmm.
He was appointed Huddersfield Academy Manager in May 2016.Huddersfield only had a Cat 2 Academy, and have just confirmed they''re dropping down to Cat 4. Which means they can''t recruit any player under the age of 16.http://www.examiner.co.uk/sport/football/news/huddersfield-town-set-overhaul-academy-13629038
10. I forget how odious the fans of other messageboards can get.
11.
Is this the longest thread title ever posted ? [:P]
Don''t tempt Waveney [:P]
12. He was interviewed at the press conference this afternoon, so probably we''ll see something on the front page at some point. Said he made some bad decisions in the past, was over-influenced by agents, but he''s married now, which has sorted him out.
13. Felt like Tony Xia fell into the same trap Tony Fernandes did, the agents knew he had money, and ended up over-paying to force deals through.I mean McCormack, Kodija, and Hogan for £10-12million a piece. Then Chester, Elphick, Jedinak, De Laet, and latterly Terry and Whelan. It''s a combination between a retirement home for Premiership rejects and Championship mid-table players. Lansbury and Hourihane won''t sign new deals? Snap them up as well!Quote from Villa fans (I do enjoy drinking their tears most Saturdays) "The squad is very good. Most Championship teams can only dream of a squad like ours, including some that are challenging for promotion, but it is not balanced, we list to the right very heavily. We also have more rightbacks than the rest of the league put together. This squad though is easily good enough for promotion."We''d want very few (if any ) Villa players in our squad, simply because it doesn''t fit the "young, hungry players" mantra that we''re now trying to get back to.
14.
Leicester Southampton Bournemouth Watford A list of clubs with wealthy outside investors who have all had prolonged investment.
Leicester won the league with a team bought for peanuts. Vardy was £1million, Kante was £5million, and Drinkwater and Mahrez were dirt cheap.Southampton made £26 million profit on Schneiderlin, £25 million profit on Lallana, £12 million profit on Lovren, and sold youth team players Luke Shaw for £30 million , Oxlade Chamberlain for £12-15 million, Callum Chambers for up to £15 million. That''s £120 million from six players, and that''s not including Walcott or Gareth Bale. It''s not about the money, it''s about how good your recruitment and youth development is, and Norwich can only really cite the development of Redmond, and Jacob Murphy. At the other end of the spectrum, there''s Tony Xia, Tony Fernandes and Vincent Tan, who blew a fortune on crap.
15. I really feel the club shouldn''t be putting Husband in the firing line like this.
16. He''s being wheeled out for the fans forum as well.Poor guy, at this rate it feels like they''re building stocks, and charging fans to throw wet sponges at him.
17. Still a good player though, no point in loaning him out, and no point in selling him if the fee isn''t good enough.
18. DCB, Waveney and Big Vince on free transfers to Portman Road
19.
Indy Bones is struggling to tell the difference between miserablists and realists.
Are you a miserable realist then? [:P]
20. We chose not to pursue several Premiership loanees, including Jake Clarke-Salter because we couldn''t give the parent club guarantees that we''d play them.Harry Redknapp, in an interview with Football Focus, told a story that a 19 year old loanee (possibly Bielik) was going to cost him £12500 a week in wages, which would double if the player didn''t play.
21. With the news of Hanley signing, DBC seems to have gone very quiet [:P]
22. So will Klose be sold to fund this? Predictions please.......
23. Depends what terms we get him on. By all accounts he only played 10 games for them last year, and Newcastle are keen to sell.If he''d been prepared to sit out his Newcastle contract on the reported £40,000, four years would be worth £8million. So I think Newcastle would be looking to subside a payoff to get him off the books. If it''s high wages, it''s likely just to be a two year deal anyway.
