1.
You said McCormack was as well. Don''t believe you!
An excellent point ;)
2. But when Alex Neil was asked about the high price of the McCormack bid, he''d replied that they''d been quoted similar prices "for other targets". Clearly McCormack was number one, but we''ve still got 4 weeks till the window closes. Back in for Britt Assombalonga?
3. To be honest though, the players that seriously impress in pre-season, tend to be the ones who are either leaving or desperate to impress. Everyone else just uses it to get their fitness up.The best Norwich players I ever saw in pre-season were Adam Drury (didn''t get a look in versus Marc Tierney), Chris Martin & James Vaughan (both sold shortly after)
4.
The Tony Xia thread on VillaTalk is worth a read, Villa fans are not too happy with his tweets
That''s pretty mild by their terms. Best one was went Mervyn King and Bernstein resigned, they were in utter meltdown that day :P
5.
Yup, in all seriousness good luck. I know he''s been well paid, but it can''t have been much fun being an itinerant for the last few years.
But that was his choice though, he could have gone back to Lisbon, but stumbled on personal terms.
6. Laughed at the "finally signed Linvoy Primus" tweetIs this going to be as bad as that Norfolk Showground announcement 7/8 years ago that turned out to be a new sponsor?
7.
The most interesting thing for me was when questioned whether or not we are actively seeking to sell the club or attract investment Steve said that since he had been at the club ( April 2015 ) he was unaware of any such moves but did say that nobody had made an approach and subsequently been sent packing.
Is that "there were no approaches to buy the club" or "any approach to buy the club was treated seriously" ?
8. Thought he got sacked from West ham because they didn''t like his brand of football.
9.
I could see Rudd going to Man U. They''d have two de Geas then..
I don''t get it :(
10. In interviews Ruddy said he came close to quitting the game, and was thankful for Norwich coming in for him and believing in him. But he''s also not the type of person to sit around on the bench, he wants to be the number one. I don''t think he''s ever really been the same after the injury. It''s not that I want him to go, but it''s different for keepers than for outfield players. Keepers rarely get the odd game or come on for 20 minutes to change a game. Added to that he''s got a year on his contract, and we''d be unlikely to offer him a new one, specially as the terms would have needed to be dramatically reduced.
11. It''s the usual situation of having a bid accepted, putting a decent contract in front of the player, and having his agent run round hawking him to different clubs to try and get a better deal, I''m afraid.
12. I would suggest that from Balls'' time at the treasury that he remembered probably the governments greatest success, selling the 3G licenses via auction. The auction system which was devised by game theory professors, ended up raising ÂŁ22.5 billion, tenfold the estimates. Though some would argue the excess cost crippled ÂŁG investment in the long term :PSo I wouldn''t think it''s unheard of for Alex Neil to be resigned to Redmond leaving, and say Balls offering an agency 1%  of the sale price to drive the transfer fee up.
13. I watched the first one and thought it was okay, pretty similar to the old show. But they''ve been on a hiding to nothing for ages. They had so much negative press from the Sun and the Times even before the show aired that they banned them from the pre-screening. Hardly helps when you''re trying to relax and find your feet.Ultimately it''s Clarkson''s fault. He''d already been given his last warning from the BBC for a string of misdemeanors before the altercation with a producer. No apology, and Hammond and May then follow it up with "fuss over nothing" despite the fact the guy drove himself to A&E to get a stitch. Is anyone really going to pay ÂŁ80 on Amazon Prime to watch them?
14. Good for him they don''t have a fit and proper persons test...."He was banned as a company director in 2000 for eight years for his role in controversial land-selling firm Commercial Land. He was also a UKIP candidate at the last General Election but resigned before polling day." Which is worse? :P
15. I thought McNally had said previously that the plan was to roughly break even, to avoid paying corporation tax.
16. Given Alex Neil''s comments about trying to reduce the age of the squad, I think we''re more likely to be targeting 23/24 year olds.
17.
I would like to see a comprehensive list of players and the length of contract they have. I fear there are too many no one will want and we can''t get rid of.
http://services.pinkun.com/forums/pinkun-forums/cs/forums/3375910/ShowPost.aspxSummer 16- Whittaker Turner O''Neill Summer 17- Ruddy Rudd Kean Bassong Bennett Olsson Tettey Mulumbu Vadis Dorrans Mcgrandles Hoolahan Redmond Jerome RVW
18. The bigger problem is going to be convincing certain players to stay in the first place. It''s pretty obvious Redmond''s off. He''s got a year left on his contract, won''t sign a new one, and the money could easily sign a couple of players instead. If Brady bailed on Hull, unless he loves the area he''s unlikely to give us a year.Klose''s premiership class, unless we can loan him out for a year, I doubt he''ll stop.Maybe Naismith will stay, depends if anyone wants him. Then it depends if there''s any interest in Pinto, Olsson, Howson etcA lot will depends on Alex Neil''s conversations with the squad. Whether there''s people who aren''t up for the fight and he tells their agent to find them another club.
19. After the Southampton cameo, Alex Neil said he''d get some game time, but clearly didn''t like his inability to trackback and cover.
20. I seriously doubt it, Rangers keep going on about how broke they are.
21. Did anyone shed any insight on why McNally left? Or was it just a special needs outing?
22.
I hope (and expect) to see Neil kept on as manager even if we get relegated.
I certainly hope so. If the board fired him, it''s debatable who we could employ that would be any better. For me, whilst McNally is great on the financial side of things, there''s serious questions to answer on the state of our scouting network. If Leicester can pick up the likes of Kante, West Ham Payet, etc why is our international recruitment so bad?
23. Just watched his press conference. Seems like a really, bright, funny guy who will fit in well. Talking about beating Messi at that dribbling test"I did it in studs, maybe Messi did it in normal shoes, and jeans"
24. So is that Naismith and Gayle coming in then? Given that he doesn''t seem to fancy Hooper and Lafferty, I can''t see him letting Grabban go without a plan.
25. He was a good player, but never seemed the same after that injury. Shame because early on in the Premiership he was one of our best performers, never really getting the credit he deserved.
