  1. I think it's a mixture of things. Traditional printed media is dying and resorting to sensational click bait style headlines to try to sell. Then you have the 'influencers'. Youngsters barely out of their teens looking for media careers, who work very hard, and like criticising but ultimately have paper thin egos. Stuart Webber's conduct over the past twelve months has been pretty odious and honestly pathetic, but I do have a degree of sympathy. I don't think it's very professional of him though.
  2. Like buses, you wait for one to turn up then three come at once 😛 Odd line up though, 4-2-3-1 with Cantwell as an 8 and Sargent as a 10?
  3. Flogging a dead horse here, but what photographer goes "ok, the vibe we're looking for is villain in a Roald Dahl book"
  4. Liz Truss in a hastily deleted tweet has told everyone she wants to "hit the ground" - bit like the economy then.
  5. I'll bump it to stop Cambridge from creating yet another thread. Well, at least I'll try to.
  6. Because she insists on driving through deals that with be detrimental to Britian. https://www.politico.eu/article/liz-truss-uk-food-sector-australia-new-zealand-trade-deal/
  7. Smith said if he leaves we aren't looking for a replacement - so presumably happy with Tomkinson as 4th choice and Byram/Sorenson as backup.
  8. Interesting comments from Dean Smith about his previous work with Douglas Luiz and Wesley. I know the biggest factor is money, but players also want to know a managers track record.
  9. Either a chef or we're employing torture specialists now
  10. Shocking news. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-62089486
  11. I'm not sure though. Biden utterly hates him after the potshots he took at Obama. I doubt he gets the lucrative deals Blair got for helping Bush after 911 and supporting him with the invasions of Iraq. Yesterday, he pretty much admitted he met up with an ex-KGB agent, whilst as Foreign Secretary, without any UK officials present straight after sensitive NATO discussions after the Salisbury poisoning incidents. Internationally he's seen as a pariah, and even the tubthumping crowd are getting sick of him.

  13. All piling on now. Well Robert, that's a very good question that I asked you to ask me earlier.
  14. Probably been said before, but arguably comes down to this
  15. For me Sargent arguably isn't a natural goal scorer, but he's only 22 and he's big and strong. I think you've highlighted the key point, which is that he's looked best playing wide right in a 4-5-1 or a 4-3-3, which are the formations Dean Smith is looking to going forward. Whilst I doubt we're going to start playing Pulis-ball, I think we're going to copy a trick of having big strong strikers run the channels in a 4-5-1 instead of conventional wingers, especially if we get back to the Premiership.
  16. Interesting points in the comments that the article makes no mention of PLM.
  17. Apologies if there's an open thread on this already https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/61992838 Championship club West Brom gave a loan of £4.95m to a company owned by chairman and owner Guochuan Lai to help it through the coronavirus pandemic. The details of the loan are contained in West Brom's accounts to June 2021, released on Thursday. Lai says he will return the money, with £50,000 interest, by 31 December 2022 after the initial repayment date was moved from 15 September. "I will repay the loan in full," he told the club website. The news will come as a shock to West Brom fans as it took money out of the club that could have been used for transfers both last summer and this, as the club tries to return to the Premier League.
  18. Specifically though I understand Dean Smith was looking for an 8, a box to box midfielder who could score. Believe Twine played in an advanced role, either left wing/striker in a 3-4-3 or as an out and out striker. I'd expect he's targeting someone with some legs and physicality, and I'm not sure Twine fits the bill.
  19. Isn't our Head of academy Steve Weaver? And isn't this guy Dean Wright just taking a promotion to take the same job as Weaver? It's not like Matt Gill leaving our U23s to become first team coach under Lambert suddenly turned them into 1970s Brazil.
