1. Good move as he had no future at Carrow Road.   An honest trier, but hopefully this will free up more funds in the Jan sales!
2. For all those who go on about giving the youngsters a chance - The reason we''ve bought in loan players is cause the likes of the Jarvis brothers, Spillane for whatever reason aren''t good enough simple as. Rossi had a run in the team and we were light weight, Russell was doing all his work. Yes Jarvis can pass the ball sideways and backwards but he doesn''t tackle and makes it to easy for the opposition.   One of Worthingtons biggest failings at Norwich was keeping the likes of Ryan Jarvis and Henderson far too long when it was obvious niether of them were going to make it. Then releasing the likes of Danny Crow and Paul Hayes to soon when  they had more potnetial than Jarvis and Henderson.   Henderson doesn''t even play for Northampton at the moment. whether hes injured I don''t know but hes was struggling at the start of the season when he had a few games. Ryan Jarvis is now being used as a sub for Kilmarnock in a League where half the teams wouldn''t cut it in the Championship. And Yes I''ve been to lots of NCFC reserve games and have seen some live scottish football.   The previous poster whos predicts Ryan Jarvis will be in the Premiership in the future!!! - What the Ridgeons Premier league?   On the subject of Darel Russell, he made his debut for Norwich at 17 and was virtually a regular by the time he was 19. The reason being - he was good enough and got stuck in. Thats the whole point if someone is good enough they will play simple as!   Another youngster who some have said hasn''t had a chance - Joe Lewis - Yes hes got potential and is a handy keeper but isn''t no where near good enough to play for Norwich. He may become in the future but that is a big maybe.   Some previous poster mentioned Chris Brown. Well I agree hes limited and won''t score many but he has got a physical presense which puts him way ahead of Ryan Jarvis. In fact I think he''d of been more effective than ched Evans in the past 2 home games cause at least he''d of give the oppositions centre backs something to think about and may of even won the ball a few times. Like Docherty he has been made a scapegoat.  I respect anyone that pulls on a Norwich shirt as long as they are good enough to do exactly that. but I am realistic when someone is not good enough. Yes in a better world we''d be using loads and loads of youngsters from our Academy in the 1st team but at present their is few if any good enough!
3. Yes I agree we need reinforcements and better players to add to a team that when is on form and being played properly can beat anything in this league.   Charlton boxing day - Conceded a poor goal that Marshall would of saved most times and our play in final 3rd cost us what could and should of been a comfortable win!   Wolves 29th - For 55 minutues the tactics and line up were totally wrong. 4 3 3 wasn''t working, no width on the right and we lacked a target man up front as Cureton together with Evans doesn''t work.   When we replaced Smith with a proper right winger Croft and replaced Evans with Dublin we began to creat prper attacks and chances. No surprise that our goal came from a Dublin flick on. Had we of started game with the same formation we finished with we''d of won comfortably!   Overall 4 dropped points that could prove crucial at the end of the season!
4. For 55 minutues yesterday the tactics employed by Roeder were badly wrong and ultimately cost us 3 points.   4 3 3 doesn''t work cause theirs no width down the right hand side with Jimmy Smith playing more in the middle.   Cureton and Evans are most effective playing of the shoulder of a target man running onto flicks into the penalty box. They are not target men thermselves, don''t hold the ball up front so therefore wern''t creating nothing for each other. Playing them together yesterday  on top of the unworkable 4 3 3 totally nullifyed our attack. Every time the ball went up fron it came straight back and with the lack of width and therefore passing options the long hit and hope balls were being used more and more.   Its no coincidence that when we put on Croft (when is he going to start a game?) for the ineffective Smith and then put on targat man Dublin for the again ineffective Evans we then controled the majority of the game. Had we started with Croft on the right, 4 4 2 and dublin up front we''d of won comfortably yesterday.   I think that Roeder has been a breath of fresh air for the club since coming in but he is falling into the eternal trap of so called experts tying themselves up in knotts with bad tactics.   Be interesting to see who agress with me cause yesterday at the ground it seemed so obvious to most of the home support.
5. Since replacing Taylor, Docherty has been outstanding!   The Doc is better than Shackel though Shacks is improving and is naturally left footed a rare commodity in centre backs.   Though Doc is better I fear that if we manage to get Taylor, the ginger pele will be the one to make way beings Shack is naturally left footed.
6. The team didn''t give the fans anything to shout about till then so the quietness was uinderstandable!   As I''ve said on another thread Roeder got the tactics badly wrong yesterday - 4 3 3 doesn''t work, no width on the right and playing Cureton and Evans up front together doesn''t work cause they don''t win the ball in the air no where near enough!   Its no coincidence that when we went 4 4 2 with croft on the right and Dublin up front with Cureton we started to control the game. Had we of started with that formation and line up then I think we''d of had a comfortable win so over 2 home games 4 dropped vital points.
7. Sorry but Jarvis isn''t in the same league as Cureton!   Ryan Jarvis is good on the ball and has lots of ability but he hasn''t got the will to win or physique to go with it!   His brother Rossi is exactly the same and niether of them will ever make the grade at Norwich or anywhere else in the top 2 Divisions.   Hes had far to long now to prove himself considering he made his debut at the back end of the 2002/03 season. Much the sme as Henderson I won''t be surprised to see the Jarvis brothers playing ridgeons league football in the not to distant future.
8.
Started my season ticket today, upper Barclay. It became apparent after ten minutes that the person sitting next to me is one of the "classic" Norwich City fans, as in his conversation with his mate for the entire match consisted of quotes such as: "I''m not sure who I hate more, Huckerby or Doherty." "Camara is rubbish." "Oh, for god''s sake!" "Russell can''t shoot or pass, but apart from that he''s okay." "Pattison is useless." "We''re rubbish, this is terrible." "We''ll be lucky to get nil." (my favourite one, after we got the equaliser...) "We''ll end up losing this 2-1." Now, here''s my dilemma.  Do I say something to him and invite a frosty atmosphere for the next ten home games, or do I just ignore him and hope he''ll have a brain transplant?  We''re supposed to be supporters, after all.
I''m afraid that 25% at least of our home support is stereotypical of the unrealistic pessimist you''ve described!   So your best of  best of  keeping your knowledge and resentment of his ignorance to yourself!
9. Strihavka can play football and looks goos with the ball at his feet, but I feel he lacks the physical and determination attributes required to make it in the Championship. I bet in a slower style of football likes whats found in Europe he''d do a good job!
10. It seems that Gunny will always have a job somewhere at the club, though I''m not complaining as hes been a fine servant for the club!   Although his spell as club liason from the outside doesn''t look like its produced much. We''ll know when things have really gone s**ts up when Gunnys in the Barclay flogging golden goal tickets!
11. My days of spectating at Carrow Road stretch back to the early 80''s. The areas where people sing or don''t haven''t really changed in that time apart from the snakepit which wasn''t there until the mid 90''s and didn''t really become a vocal area until a few years after that. In all that time the Barclays always been the vocal area. The river end rarely made some noise, while the other 2 sides have always been the none vocal areas. The only times I''ve heard all 4 sides singing was the Bayern Munich game and the Preston game in the 03/04 title winning year.   I''ve gone from being a young kid, to teenager, young adult and now 30 something Barclay ender still as vocal as I''ve always been, kept going through the bad times and I hope to spectate there until I die and try and keep up the vocals!   I respect oldies who go to games cause I''ll be one of them soon enough and some of them have been regulars there for donkeys years which I respect cause a quite a few of our present crowd have only jumped on the bandwagon in the last 6-7 years. If the club started some sort of ageist policy which is illegall, banning all over 60''s then we wouldn''t be struggling to get 20,000 so leave the oldies alone!   Although I''ve been mainly a Barclay ender I''ve spectated in all the other areas from time to time. Being used to and enjoying the often loud and vocal Barclay end, I find the other areas a come down but for many they''d rather be out of the vocal or they can''t get tickets in the Barclay or snakepit. I''m sure if we''d of been geting the crowds we''re getting now in 1992 when the new Barclay was built then the club would of considered making it bigger than what it is. If I had a choice of missing a game cause wern''t in the vocal or sitting in the quiet areas then I''d still go!   Rather pointless thread but I thought I''d tell it as it is!
12. Yeah sorry but I get your point!   Though I''d say its a good job that either Worthy or Grant did''nt get their hands on that amount of cash!
13. The old South stand had to replaced at some point. Its likely that capacity of it would of been cut to an unrealistic capacity of 19-20,000. The regular maintaining and updating of it would of cost money and the loss of 4000 extra persons admisson monies created when the new stand was built would of hit the club big time.   The board were right to build the Jarold Stand. Anyway the club could of filled in the Barclay/Jarold stand with seats but didn''t instead having the hotel which brings in much needed funds which help the football side and thats coming from someone like me who absolutely hates the bloody hotel!   We need aniother tier on the city stand but it won''t be done until we get into the Premiership. The reason behind this is to ensure that the team does not suffer from a lack of funds while we try to get back into the big league. The new stand makes money from the club in a variety of ways. The central activity at the football club will always be the team but its foolish to think that modern day professional football can survive without any commercial activities other than football admissions and programmes sales!
14. We sold our allocation regardless of how small it is!   The majority of Citys away following this evening would of been able to get a ticket through the loyalty scheme where the more regular fans have first choice of tickets. Even though I know last week that Colchester tickets were on general sale so anyone could of bought one if they wished. Why didn''t you  T07? We consistently made much more noise than the ColU who were only really heard when they went in front. The quietness of the colU fans was strange. even when they scored the noise generated wasn''t loud, but then again I''m comparing it to our noisy fans!   We have consistently one of the best away following in the league and this is depite Norwich being out on a limb so the travelling distances are further than every club apart from Plymouth and maybe a couple of others!   To critiscise Norwichs away following which has remained more than healthy despite some of the crap served this season (not counting todays in the crap variety cause while it wasn''t a complete performance it wasn''t crap!) is ridiculous.   Ive read some of your rather way overly critically postings on here T07 and its glaringly obvious that you talk a load of s**T!
15. Yes defense looked shaky at times but they did do some sterling work.   People forget that the first consideration for defenders is to defend and clear their lines. Sometimes a big boot is very appropriate. People would hang the Doc if he tryed to dribble or pass himself out of a tricky moment and fluffed it.   The Doc isn''t in the same class as Martin Taylor but hes a good back up at this level. If he was a wonder player he wouldn''t be playing for in the Championship.
16. Jamie cureton looked dangerous tonight. GHe even showed some turns of pace which didn''t think he poccessed!   He has lived on scraps this year that strikers must better than him would of struggled with.   Yes agreed that could of done much better but - yet again another case of fans being totally unrealistic!   Best one I heard last season was the guy who said that Rob Earnshaw misses to many chance. He said that to me in January when Earnie had just scored about 17 goals in half a season. Yes he missed chances but so does every striker and if you can''t be satisfied with that return then you never will!   We always used to mock Wolves fans for their high expectations but haven''t we become the same in the last 3-4 years?
17. Complete and utter shambles - No way, you obviously haven''t seen some if any of our no shows this season. If yoyu think the championship is all about sweet flowing football with super quality players who never flap or make mistakes then you are a complete dreamer! Great performance - No.   Quality performance - Apart from the commitment definately not!   A solid hard working performance - Yes most definately. Forget their league standing. playing Colchester at Layer Road crap stadium, fans close to the pitch, overachieving little club forever trying to shoot down their bigger club rivals, small playing area etc, is always going to be difficult for anyone in this Division. We had to match them in the battling stakes which we did and apart from a dreadful era from Camara we''d of won!   It was never going to be a classic but the determination and drive that Roeder has installed in the team saw us through, It was a  game in which we''d of comfortably been beat in during the Grant then short Duffy spell eras.   The unrealistic vibes coming from some fans never cease to amaze me. This game tonight would of been tough for our championship winning team of 2003/04. West Brom got beat there and they are better than us. For the record to many fans look back on our Championship winning season through rose tinted specs. We won a lot of games that year through pure grit and determination added to loads of luck, paerticularly with the small number of injuries that year..
18. Yes we do need a bigger capacity. Yes even in the Championship we could get 30,000+ for some games and we''d probably be able to pull in over 28,000 regularly if we were doing well!   But quite simply while we are in the Championship we on on rations money wise and it would be foolish to spend money on extra capacity then have no money to spend on players. The board have had the plans for a City stand upper tier for a long time now but will only do it when we get into the premiership. They were qouted £10,Million to do the upper tier 3-4 years back and we certainly don''t have that sort of money now!   Its like the hotel which I''ll never fully accept from a moral point of view but understand why it was done from a financial point of view. I think if we''d of stayed up in the premiership then that corner would of been filled with seats and the hotel bolted onto the back of it but that design would of been more costly.   Yes I agree with the previous poster who says that NCFC have long underestimated its level of support and have always bottled it in the past when doing the ground. Its a shame that when the new barclay was buuilt our crowds wern''t that great. I''m sure if we were doing the Barckay now then the club would of gone for a bigger stand.   Norwich City should in the future be looking to extend Carrow Road to about 35-40,000, but until we get back into the premiership then nothing will happen as regards to increasing capacity.
19. I already have and will always go to home games while I''m still alive and don''t have work commitments!   Yes we are crap at the moment and I think maybe we need some changes at board level (though I have total respect for the current board!)but I consider myself a true fan so I''ll be there!
20. Its a free country and you can do what you like!   I also understand that public transport often trys its best one way or the other to make things difficult for its customers and the road network in our part of the world is poor.  But I don''t see the point of paying large amounts of money to watch a game of football and leave early potentially missing some major incidents!   The same as people who go to the game and miss 10-15 minutes in the bar, crazy!!    I always refer back to Chris Suttons 97th minute equaliser against Sheffield Wednesday in 1994, coming back from 2-1 down at home to Coventry in 1991, losing 3-2 at Crewe in 1999 after being 2-0 up after 82 minutes and the famous comeback against Middlesbrough in the Premiership when talking about leaving early!   Canary call sometimes has some one ring in with common sense but more often than not it doesn''t so take it with a pinch of salt!   Takes all sorts I suppose!
21. I agree totally with the first post completely!   Watford are by the best side I''ve seen this year which is why their 8pts clear. If they''d of played us 2-3 weeks ago we''d of lost about 4-0. they continue playing like they did last night then noone is going to stop them!   The same as against a very strong Ipswich side Sunday we looked much improved from the Grant/Duffy era. Sunday was down to poor finishing and last night I''m sure we could of  beaten some of the poorer teams in this league.   I''ve always maintained all through that we''ve the players to do much better than our current position and with some tweaking here and there,  Roeders having more time to exert his influence, a couple of additions to the squad, get Hartson fitter then we can be alright!
22. I''m glad to see Brellier back in the team cause he is at the oppositions throats closes them down, gets his foot in and makes some essential tackles. - All of which have been sadly missing this season, one of the main reasons why teams have been getting the better of us. Yes I''d agree that he isn''t blessed with the greatest of finnesse but he does a good job where getting stuck in and doing the ugley stuff which is a must at Championship level. He doesn''t look fit enough yet but I''m sure their is more to come from him cause he was a legend at Hearts who are no pushovers in a league where physical attributes are essential. The stupid sending off at Wolves didn''t help his cause.   Rossi Jarvis (why did he play so many games instead of Spillane who looks a much better player?) is basically the midfield version of his brother Ryan. They can both play silky great football with the ball at his feet but aren''t quick enough and are much to lightweight lacking the neccessary physical attributes  to ever make the grade with Norwich.
23. No one likes the situation we''re in, in fact I''m sick of it!   The board have admitted mistakes and have publically stated that if anyone is prepared to come in and inject fresh funds into the club then they are prepared to step aside! They have put their own funds into the club which I''m grateful for and every other Norwich fan should be. This fact and their statments firmly indicate that until someone or organisation comes in with a good offer something similar which has happened to those credit thiefs down the A140 then theirs nothing we or them can do except support the club and in the boards case try and do the right things which I believe they always try to do anyhow! Their is no magic wand until the rich benefactor comes along!   In the case of Glen Roeder I believe the board like almost every other Norwich fan wanted Paul Jewel but for some reason he wouldn''t come. After Jewel I believe Roeder was the next best we could wish for and thats after I''ll admit that initally I wasn''t happy. If he can handle some of the jumped up nasty egos he had to cope with at Newcastle then he can cope with rescuing the Canaries. The board needed to avoid going for someone with little or none managerial experience cause that route failed with Grant!   We have the players but they need motivating into playing their best. We were never going to get promoted or in the play offs this season due to the horrendous amount of injuries we''ve suffered but from what I''ve seen in this league so far (Bristol City currently 2nd in the league for christ sakes and they could have been buried by half time at Carrow Road even as poorly as we are!) we''re more than capable of staying up this year.      Have you got any names who should or more importantly would be prepared to come in and buy the club Smudger?   I understand a lot of your frustrations Smudger but you go way over the top and you aren''t realistic. - Slaghging Roeder off before hes even had one game is a bit too much!  You wern''t the t**t  at the fans forum at Diss last week who said that Destefano is waiting to come in and recue the club but the board are stopping him coming in by any chance? - Fans do come out with some unrealistic tripe but that one took some beating!   If you was a real fan you''d be at the game tomorrow giving the team your total support!
24. John Hartson has always relyed on his brute force mixed with quality football skills and brains rather than top athleticism He was probably being lined up long before Grant went. How we''ve been lately we need someone up front who can hold the ball up and stopping it coming striaght back at our back line. I think Hartson is a good signing cause he can do exactly that much in the same as Iwan used to - have we ever really replaced Iwan?    Much as I think Duffy has to go ASAP cause he was part of Grants failed backroom team the signing of Hartson makes good sense, we need an outsider coming in who isn''t bogged down by all the low confidence, negativity and subconsious rejection of Grants style of management and play. Hrtson though a bit of an animal always has had plenty of spirit.  If it isn''t a success we can let him go back to West Brom.
