  1. I'm not even going to try to work out what that means.
  2. I'm a bit surprised that "coloured" isn't universally recognised as not ok. To me, it's linked to the categories used in apartheid but there are plenty of other negative connotations. But if other people aren't aware, then it's good that this has highlighted it. On Greg Clarke specifically, I can't help thinking that in his role, he must have had numerous briefings and/or training sessions on diversity given its importance these days, and on media management too. If he said what he said despite all that, it's either hugely provocative, or downright stupid.
  3. To be fair, there are so many of them, it would hardly be a surprise if he hadn't.
  4. False equivalence, even if you think McCallum not playing for us this season means he is written off for good. One player who delivers - e.g. Godfrey - is worth ten or even hundreds of times more to the club than one who doesn't. And "got lucky"? Seriously? Of course it's not luck, no more than Aarons, Buendia, Godfrey, Lewis, Todd and the rest are "lucky".
  5. Michael Bailey has said today that the club have targets identified for either Championship or Premier League for next season and a CB is on the list. He also said that Mumba and Sorensen's performances so far show that they were right not to buy before the window closed this time, and I agree. We could have panicked and overpaid for someone does doesn't play all season, and then isn't suitable for the PL (nice problem to have, I know). And calling it a weak league is a nonsense statement, 1) how do you justify the claim - because a couple of so-called "big" clubs went up last season? and 2), do you expect the club to behave differently in some way because of it?
  6. Another one in the “no problems with iFollow at all” camp here. I’ve got Sky Sports, so along with the red button option, I’m happy watching one or the other, and the single camera, no replays on the red button make iFollow look quite good. It’s the BBC Sport notifications when we score that upset me, I must get round to turning them off. As GPB says, you know not to get excited when we get in to the opposition box if there been no goal notification.
  7. Between a c0ck and a hard place was another one I’ve heard.
  8. Second band I ever saw live, at the Ipswich Gaumont. I queued afterwards and got them all to sign my Dare picture disk. In truth, I always preferred the pre-split version, when they were more in keeping with that Sheffield industrial thing. How this was never a massive hit is still a mystery:
  9. I’m tempted, but I’ll leave it there...
  10. Everything I read says x number of doses, which is enough for x/2 people, so my guess is 5 million - but that is exactly that, a guess. But the logistics of getting it out to the community won’t be simple, especially as it has to be stored at such a low temperature, so I’d expect the additional 30/15 million to be in the supply chain before the 10/5 million are given.
  11. For some reason, I can't get this out of my head at the moment:
  12. I know we’ve been saying this for a while, but I’d expect to see us buying at least one significantly better player in central defence if we go up. On second thoughts, scrub the ‘at least’, I wouldn’t want to disrupt things with two new CBs. And we need to see how Quintilla and Mumba are at the day job, i.e. defending. Given that we’ll do well to keep Max another year.
  13. It left me bemused I have to say. Did any of the idiots who had a go at him think they could have done better?
  14. Just read this article about David Corner, the 18 year old centre back who John Deehan beat to set up the goal in the 1985 Milk Cup. “.. as I turned around he just punched me. It smashed my teeth and I had to have stitches under my mouth”. “I was in hospital for 12 days with a fractured eye socket and broken cheekbone.” https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/nov/08/torment-catharsis-sunderland-david-corner-1985-league-cup-final?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
  15. But seriously, if he scored with that part of his arm, it would be disallowed wouldn’t it?
  16. Agreed about Sorensen, it’s the fact that as well as clearly being skilful, he’s composed with it.
  17. I have to say I wasn’t wildly impressed with Martin when he came on. Didn’t look like he knew what he ought to be doing, control and passing were poor. I know he’s young and needs game time, but it looks from what I saw that there are others ahead of him in the queue right now.
  18. Farke will have to pick Cantwell so people can have a go at his hair/gloves/face/breathing...
  19. If I was being generous, I would say Martin is a bit rusty.
  20. We can live in hope. He’s announced a press conference, let’s hope he doesn’t do anything stupid. Quite a lot to hope for though. And Krul keeps us in it again.
  21. Well, looking a bit better now, Mumba making a difference.
  22. Keith Webb thinks we should bring on a deer?
