  1. Plus the academy that recruited them is not today's academy. A big part of the Weberlution is what has been done to it since he joined, which hopefully will mean future recruits are there from a younger age. Although I'm sure we will still be looking for bargains at any age.
  2. I can't decide if this is one for Corporal Jones or Private Fraser (millennials can ignore this post).
  3. Completely agree, if you'd asked me for my opinion and all I had to go on was our games I've watched this season, I'd say Emi has had maybe one or two good games, but failed to make much of his opportunity in the rest. Stats aren't everything, but in this case, I suspect they are showing that I am a naive supporter who only sees the obvious stuff, and that there are many, more subtle aspects that I'm missing. I think Kenny McLean was another example last season. Which is one reason why in Farke I trust (if that doesn't make me sound like Yoda).
  4. 🎶 We only go when we’re winning? 🎶
  5. Would turn out useful if your child happened to be transgender.
  6. It can only be a matter of time before someone quotes this, so I’m going to jump in first: “Following promotion to the Premier League the club anticipates a substantial operating profit in the financial year to June 2020.” Cue the “why didn’t we buy another central defender/midfield unit/cover for Pukki” posts .
  7. I logged on at 9 o’clock for an Everton ticket, straight into the ticket purchase screen and all done by 9:05. It seems the initial excitement has died down as predicted and it will only be the big/London games that are in demand. Hopefully there will be a few for general resale and I can take my daughter to a game.
  8. Is Alex Neil still favourite to go there? I can imagine he’d give them a bit of a kick up the ****.
  9. When Nutty posted this the other day (yesterday?), did you not see it, ignore it or have you just conveniently forgotten it? https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/goal_assist
  10. No, but if you read what I wrote I think I made the point that the statement "none of our summer signings has broken into the first team" is wrong. On top of Amadou clearly now being a first team regular, I tried to make the point that Byram has impressed and if it wasn't for Max, I don't think there are many on here who would oppose him being picked regularly. Indeed one or two posters have suggested he should be picked ahead of Aarons. It's not breaking into the first team, agreed, but equally it shows that we are not suddenly scouting duds, which I think was Samwam's implication.
  11. You mean apart from Amadou, with Byram a close contender to play?
  12. You said “but we’re now only one injury away from our strongest 11 (Zimmerman)”. Without Amadou on Saturday we were two away from our alleged strongest 11. You were out by 100%. We were playing our 6th choice in central defence, and couldn’t play one of potentially the most expensive players NCFC have ever had. I think that warrants mentioning, there’s already too much convenient reframing of facts in this board.
  13. One man’s languid is another man’s silky.
  14. If you don’t think we can get some points from those games, I’m all ears to hear who’s left in this league that we can beat. I’d give up now and leave the rest of us to support the team if I were you.
  15. This thread appears to be degenerating into some sort of primary school maths lesson.
  16. Funny, I could have sworn Amadou didn’t play on Saturday. With Tettey/ Amadou next to Leitner in front of a proper back four, I hope we will see a different picture.
  17. I’m not going to get dragged into a pointless back and forth on this, so I’ll have one more go. Lakey said Stieperman hitting the woodwork was a sign that he might score the odd goal. It’s not a goal, and I’d like more than one “sign” before I would use it as solid evidence but if it’s not an indication that he got close, wtf is it? If he’d ballooned it into row z, I could see your point.
  18. If you drew a scale with a goal at one end and the polar opposite (own goal?) at the other end, hitting the bar would be way over towards the goal end. No-one is saying hitting the bar is a goal, but it’s about as close as you can get, to use it as evidence that we are having trouble scoring is nonsensical.
  19. I am staggered that at least a couple of posters have suggested dropping Lewis.
  20. Wow, if hitting the bar is “not scoring goals”, do you sum up last season as “we lost some games”?
  21. Are you always this quick to write people off? I’m sure we could come up with a few examples of players who didn’t click immediately, Stieperman in his first season for a start.
  22. Sums up Buendia today. Wins a free kick on the edge of the box and then wastes it.
