  1. Henderson isn''t really a winger, so playing an inexperienced young lad out of position in such an important game was suicide. Worthy keeps going on about ball retention, so why the hell did he not put on one of the three of the best/most experienced ball retaining players we have on the bench? I hope he learns from this game, much like he did when we played West Brom this time last year when he started, bafflingly, with Iwan up front on his own and we pretty much gave the game to them. The one thing about Worthy is that, while the message does take a while to get through, he does eventually learn by his mistakes. Let''s hope yesterday''s lesson is the kick start to some wins.
  2. I doubt they will, so surely we should get some songs together for them? Suggestions here please: Does anyone know if their press officer is coming?
  3. I agree that Holt played very well on Saturday, but I think it''s actually defensively that his problems lie: We have conceded a lot of goals this season when we have backed off players on the 18 yard line. As we know, you can''t give players that kind of room in this division because they will shoot and probably score. If you look at the times we have done this, Holt has been retreating in line with the defence, which suddenly creates the necessary room for the striker. He should be out in that ''no man''s land'' making sure he gets the tackle or block in, leaving time for our defence to then step up and clear the second ball. However, he''s not doing this and we are being punished for giving skillful players too much time and space on the edge of the box. I know some people on this board already have a problem with Safri, but if you look at how he fills this role he is much more accomplished at it, and is capable of not only remembering to do this but winning the ball and passing and creating from being in these positions. My other theory is this: To judge a player''s real value to the side, imagine if they were on the bench and what they could bring to the team if they were brought on. I can''t really see what Holt could bring us - can anyone else?
  4. Creative Midfielder - "Safri is even more wasteful in possession than Holt" Love it. The poor bloke''s played about 2 and a half games and you''ve written him off already. That''s what I like about fans like you: optimistic to the last. You''re not the guy who ruined the Liverpool game for me by moaning from the 1st minute are you?
  5. I think you''ll find Jonson and Helveg coming more into the games before long. Worthy bought them for one reason - they can keep hold of the ball. At the moment it''s a case of damage limitation, keeping the team spirit together and gradually building confidence. Then we''ll start to see the new players come through, and then I think Worthy will have the guts to start with a more attacking line up, and gambling with Mac, Sven or even Jarvis up front. It''s encouraging that we are not losing, and shows how well we are actually doing when the press are getting frustrated that we aren''t winning (when let''s face it, most of them thought we''d be lucky to have a point by now). By the way - every fan has a duty to reprimand anyone who boos the likes of Svensson et al this season. Booing is bad at the worst of times, but for god''s sake, do these people really think our players aren''t trying their hardest at the one shot they have of making it in this game? We''ve already seen it this season and it''s a disgrace. GET THE BOOERS OUT!
  6.   Worthy must learn from yesterday, but I''m not convinced by his ''we were excellent'' stuff after the game. He used to do that when we relied on Iwan too much... Doherty''s role seems pointless - he''s playing the entire game with his back to goal. If we don''t have wingers, no one crosses the ball, hence no point in a big man up front. We gave the ball away far too often yesterday because we had little or no option up front. Time for Svensson or McKenzie to play, that way we''ll keep the ball on the ground instead of the useless hoofing we were doing. I''d also like to see Holt dropped (good battler, doesn''t create anything for us though) and stick Jonson and Bentley on the wings - they can both keep hold of the ball, which is something we desperately need. Safri looks an excellent buy. I thought we looked strangely comfortable yesterday, but toothless. It reminded me of when we last in the Prem - anyone else get that same feeling (those that can remember that far back..)?
  7. Wasn''t for a moment suggesting there was anything sinister going on - just surprised that all we''d heard up to a few hours ago was that Malkie was going, and I expected the Pink to be a little more in the know than that. If it wasn''t, well, er, ho hum...
  8. Wellsaid Tumbleweed. It is probably all quite simple. At 32, Malkie aint going to get any quicker, and what would we get for him even in a couple of months time if he hasn''t been playing? May as well look at the long term and sell him while he''s still in contract. Not nice for the old boy, but that''s football. Besides, Simon Charlton looks to me like he has all of Malkie''s qualities bar height, and is a much, much better ball player - something Worthy has stated he wants all along.
  9. I heard that interview on 5live - it was pretty shameful actually. McCain sponsor our Academy (I think), and it really did leave me thinking why on earth Delia had gone on the show. She tried to say our team can eat low-fat oven chips, which "our sponsors McCain make" (she said this a lot) but there seemed little point to the interview other than that. Quite embarrassing. Never mind, we still love her. Good idea about the website by the way...
  10. Come on Pinkun, you always seem to tippy-toe around any sore issues at NCFC. We know you''re scared of losing your privileges at the club but the least you can do is tell us the REAL reason Malkie''s leaving. Even if you don''t know it, you must have heard more than you''re letting on, and whilst we don''t condone idle gossip that might harm the club (leave that for these pages), you MUST tell us more than you have - after all, we''re the ones that sign up to your website and buy your papers. You owe us that much at least...
  11. We do need some cover for Holt and it''s no guarantee that Holt will be good enough for the Prem. Safri has passing abilities as well as sharing Holt''s tenacious qualities so it won''t be a bad thing to have that in reserve. Peter Reid seemed to suggest that Safri was off to the Prem anyway, so maybe we''ve done well in getting him. We should rememeber that we were very lucky with injuries last year, particularly considering we only had 16 senior players in the squad for most of the season. Relying on Hendo for a few games is ok in the first division but will seriously trouble us in the Prem if we don''t have an experienced squad.
  12. I''m sick of Pardew and his arrogance, and I''m sick of hearing journos go on about ''how well Pardew and McCarthy have done considering the financial disaster of relegation''. Financial disaster? Both clubs earnt more than £14m last year for being rubbish! How much did we get? Not a bean near that! They''ve got huge squads and we won the league - sorry - STORMED the league with only 17 senior players in our squad. I hope Pardew chokes as much as McCarthy - COME ON YOU EAGLES
  13. Anyone read the ''fans review of the season'' in The Observer yesterday? All the scum fan (''Julian'' from tractorboys.com) could do was have a go at us. Just shows how pathetic their season has been. After all we only finished 21 points ahead of them, conceded less goals than anyone, have the PFA + 1st divison fans'' player of the year, beat them twice (only conceding 1 goal), outsang them home and away and are clear CHAMPIONS of the division that their potato-headed manager claims they are the best team in. That will make things all the sweeter when I cheer the cup being lifted at 6pm tonight...
  14. Won 1-0 Danny Crow scored. On a sadder note, Rivers looked like he really couldn''t be bothered. I think he must know he''s well and truly out of here in the summer. Felt a bit sorry for him actually..
  15. That''s us! For all of us who have stuck through the last 9 years, through the horrible times and the amazing 3 years we''ve just had, give ourselves a pat on the back, we deserve it at last! So chuffed to read Worthy, Delia, Doncaster etc talking about how we''ve helped the team in so many ways, and I''m so proud to have been part of it all, don''t know about you!
  16. If you take a close look and listen to what''s been said over the last few months, you''ll find that most Journos/Commentators etc want us to go up. Sunday Telegraph, yesterday: Talked about how ''this well run and wonderfully hospitable club'' desereve to go up. Sky Sports Commentator, Reading away game last Monday: "Norwich have been waiting nine years to go back to the Premiership and they have been sorely missed - they''ll be welcomed back with open arms." The Guardian, a few weeks ago: a massive piece on how cosmopolitan our club is, compared to our ''country cousins down the road'' and how we are a Premiership club in waiting in every sense of the word - from fans to stadium to team to hospitality. The Times'' top football writer is a Norwich fan (can''t remember his name). We are actually getting a lot of support from those who dare to write/talk about something other than the usual old ''those who go up will come straight back down'' nonsense. A lot of my mates work in the London media and they''re all saying how good it is that Norwich are going back up. I think we have Delia to thank for a lot of this - she wines and dines a lot of influencial people in the media, and you''d be surprised how much a good pie can turn someone to your way of thinking...
  17. Indeed he has been injured most of the season - in fact, he wasn''t even fully fit when he came to us. Dare I say it.... I think he could end up replacing Mcveigh, who as much as I love him, doesn''t quite have the body strength to compete like Cooper. He got knocked about at Everton something awful, and I''ve seen it happen a few times before. Still, his game has moved on a level this year, why not another next year?
  18. My recently purchased lucky yellow pants (well, boxers) have seen us score 12 goals in 3 games! I daren''t wear anything else now!
  19. I like Worthy''s comment to the Journos this weekend - "I told you he was a good player but none of you believed me". Well I''m saying the same, particularly to those who shouted ''Iwan'' at him as recently as the Reading game. If there''s one thing that has put a downer on this season for me (and there hasn''t been anything else to be honest) it''s been that. But I''m glad to say he''s shown everyone what he can do - 6 goals in 4 games is proof enough, me thinks. So there - 1st Wiz and I were right all along. Ner ner nee ner ner...
  20. Apologies Wiz, I couldn''t resist it... There won''t be many bigger clubs for NW to go to once we''ve stormed the Premiership in style.....
  21. St Mary''s - identikit stadium but awesome atmosphere when the yellas get singing. Highbury Library - a chance to show the Londoners what real support is all about (plus it won''t be there for much longer) Goodison - we have to get our own back for their disgraceful accusations in January.
  22. Eh Wiz, I remember it wasn''t long ago you were posting on here that Worthy was sh!te and a certain Mr G. Burley should be our manager! That''s about as blasphemous as it gets!
  23. The bloke that used to play the organ in the River End during the early 90s. Terrible, terrible dance hall versions of OTBC. People shouting ''Iwan'' at Mat Svensson since he started playing really well (you know who you are).
  24. Well I think it would be nice if Ipswich went up as well as us. There, I said it. That way, the whole region could enjoy fantastic football, everybody would sit up and take notice of our part of the world again and remember that we are both clubs who have been capable of playing football to match, if not beat, the best. What''s wrong with that? And of course, we could continue beating them twice a year.
  25. Too right! I thought the way we played on Sat was a real ''screw you'' to Warnock, Potato Head, Pardew and the rest of the ''they''ll bottle it'' chorus. Full of fast, attacking football and plenty of confident play. Just what we needed to start our 9 match winning run. I''m lovin'' it lovin'' it lovin'' it!
