  1. Such strange times, no crowds the squad in a state of flux, two narrow defeats in the last two games suddenly asking for 3 wins on the bounce is probably being very optimistic, if we cannot win 2 out of those however then we can forget promotion for this season
  2. Given the surprise and annoyance of the Culture secretary this morning and also the very cool response from other PL clubs i cannot see this latest idea flying at all. If the PL do not come up with a rescue package for the rest of football pretty quick then they may find one imposed on them as well as governance arrangements.
  3. Well this has been thrashed about a lot. Gibson looks the real deal, Zimmermann to me has looked off the pace somewhat but he is back from injury. I do like Hanley but he is injury prone and not played yet this season. Tettey great club servant that he has been is not a CB, and struggles to play 50% of games any way and i suspect he will be needed in midfield anyway. Given that picture as above anyone who does not think we need another CB in the squad is bonkers. We have not started the season very well and we are a couple of injuries away from having a pretty thin defense
  4. I am confused about this as to who has been part of the discussion. Rick Parry on TV seems delighted with it and has clearly been involved, i am not sure how many of his members may agree with him though. The PL on the other hand seem pretty unhappy as does the Culture secretary
  5. Fat Pigs with their noses in the trough. For medium sized clubs like us it would be even harder to get up let alone stay up. I would love nothing more in these difficult times for the Government to put a sizable windfall tax on the PL for the benefit and survival of all the football league and below
  6. If a PL club matches our current valuation then he is off, if not he stays. If the latter is the case will he play on a regular basis, do people think he will be in Farkes starting line up if he has a full midfield to pick from ? IMO opinion Farke will only play 2 at most out of Buendia,Cantwell, Hernandez and Platecha at the same time. He may also choose to try Hugill and Pukki together which may mean only 1 of that list of 4 starts. There are varying opinions on here but for me he would be no 3 on that list with Buendia and Platecha above him. The nightmare scenario is he stays, does not play as often as he would like he gets very disenchanted at the same time that his transfer value could wane
  7. Much deserved after a fantastic last two seasons, it is a wonderful example of a career in tatters that has got back to its best and club, player and fans all happy and grateful we gave him that chance and he took it
  8. The thing is with our scouting system you really do not know what you are going to get. There have been some absolute gems over the last 3 seasons such as Buendia, Pukki, Zimmermann, Vrancic etc then there has been the bang ordinary/poor both signings and loans. The trouble with Sinani is that he is not a youngster, i think he is 23. he has come from the Luxembourg league which must be about the same at National League North. He expected to be involved in the squad and with overseas players it takes a while for them to get used to British style and conditions. It is not like last season when we were in the PL, at the moment we are a mid table championship side though we hope to improve on that but if these new players at their ages are not going to get any game time here it begs the question when or if they will do so, especially with quite a number of much younger players identified as being worth being in or around the first team squad. Far too early to write them off, the top Belgian league is a good standard but very very different to England different, but the early signals are not over promising as they say if they are good enough they are old enough
  9. I recall him missing one for us too. Amazing how players manage to put them away for country but miss ones for us in recent years
  10. For me Krul. The once good player who looked to be finished and had hardly played a game for 2 years and given a chance by us has and had a very dodgy start ,turned out to be for me one of the best if not the best goalkeeper that has ever played for Norwich
  11. Alas at the moment few if any clubs in the championship and below will be splashing out on big transfer fees or wages. by the same token with all those clubs tightening their belts they will not risk the highly paid , injury prone has beens, many of which will find it hard to get any club unless they accept much much lower salary demands or pay as you play deals until they prove their fitness
  12. He is a top bloke and a very competent manager. His style of play at Norwich made me pull my hair out but for the most part he did an adequate job and it was a country mile better than our last season. I am not sure how much influence he had with signings the only one that went really bad was RVW and unfortunately he was the one we had banked our future on to get the goals to keep up. He will do a solid job at Forrest, he will certainly make them more difficult to beat. Success in the short term will be getting them to mid table
  13. Its a balancing act but we need more CB cover now either loan or signing, i am not suggesting we blow other than a modest proportion of our transfer money from player sales but we are a couple of injuries away from being lower mid table
  14. In the context of this i wonder what discussions have been had between the Government and the PL. The PL are the only ones with any money whilst the league are in a very unhealthy position. There is not unreasonably an expectation that the PL help with the problem, it is obscene for them to be spending tens of millions on new players and hundreds of thousands a week on wages. I expect the PL to be persuaded to pay out several hundred million to help the football pyramid. I suspect they have been told to come up with a voluntary plan and if they do not then they will be hit with significant one off taxes to help the less fortunate. This obviously means that there will be less in the coffers to put into transfers hence the lower activity. Against this background we are fortunate to have made a couple of quite lucrative sales so for the next few years our future is in our hands
  15. I totally accept that there have been some inconsistencies but two wrongs do not make a right and nor does frustration make it good to go back. Let us not forget what has happened before. The Atalanta v Madrid game early on was thought to have been a significant impact on rates in Northern Italy. The Liverpool game against Spanish opponents was also later criticized. I know we are not talking about other than token attendances but realistically that will only help clubs to a marginal level. Germany as stated by me earlier only allow 20% attendance and only in areas where the covid is 35/100000 or below. Most of the big towns and cities have rates way above that in England and Norfolk in the short term is also just about on that level and going up. So a agree that some events that take place should not be allowed but is it right now in October to resume, i think not do not forget it is not what goes on in the stands but the loos and bar at half time and the travel to and from the game, also look at how many sporting personalities are coming down with it at the moment. I would love to get back in brighter times but this petition is a total waste of time, the spring/summer with a bit of luck could be another matter
  16. Seems very promising lets hope the talent conveyor belt continues
  17. Top man top professional i wish him well. If we could have the time over again would we sign him i suspect not. It must not be forgotten that he cost £9m , or there abouts which has been reduced to zero so an expensive experiment. Excellent start in the PL until injury struck, times when i thought he may help save us that season. First season in the championship bang average and a nasty shock to him, second season, excellent adapted well to the physicality showed great determination and character, sadly injury knocked him out of proceedings before the PL season really started and by the time he came back he was way past his best and the route of the squad could not be stemmed.
  18. So Klose has gone, for me his time here has been a mixed bag. From the outset i would say he has behaved like a model professional that others could look to and copy and he has been a big influence in a positive way for younger players. In many ways it is a shame that we did not sign him a couple of years earlier as we have not seen the best of him. When we got him in our PL relegation battle he made such a positive impact i thought he may well save us, but of course injury put paid to this. His first season in the championship was not a great one by his own admission, the physical nature of it was a nasty shock to him. He adapted and reacted to this very well and was one of the key contributors to our promotion season. That early season injury in the PL robbed us of him and by the time he came back post lock down he was not the player he had been and the way the whole squad performed it was a sinking ship. So thanks for what he has done, maybe in years to come he may return in some coaching capacity he has the ideal personality. In the cold light of day we paid about £9m for him and that has become zero for one and a half good seasons so it has been an expensive experiment, but he is such a popular player most if not all wish him well
  19. happy with that. have paid in full, i guess the following season will start August 2021 hopefully things will be a lot better then
  20. I suspect they may be surprised with the response they get. I feel that a significant number of season ticket holders of many clubs are not in favor of a return of spectators. Germany one of the very few countries to have done a half decent job with the pandemic allow football fans in 20% capacity but only if the clubs area has a rate of 35 cases per 100000 or less, there will not be many clubs in England that fit that criteria, even us now with Great Yarmouth 92/100000 yesterday. We are struggling to keep things open at the moment let alone opening up more. Obviously the younger you are the lower the risk and probably the keener to get back, i would not like to guess what proportion of our fan base is 50 and over
  21. On reflection and taking on board what some on here say, i have probably been too harsh on him with my comments. I have a great deal of respect for Farke and developing younger players and would accept his judgement on the good and not so good points of younger players. I have my own suspicions about how he has been behaving but i accept what many say we do not know the facts and may never will. Given how much we as a club invest and depend on youth i am sure both Farke and Webber would not want to keep anyone that showed a bad attitude or dissent, lest it contaminate the minds of others,, regardless of the player. I have always accepted he has a great deal of talent but also thought he will fare better in the top flight than the championship and for that main reason i would sell if we got a decent offer
  22. Aarons deserves a top 10 club i do not know how many of them need a right back though. Buendia i feel if he leaves us and the signs are not good he would be willing to go to any PL club but for me Leeds would be a great fit. A well respected Argentine manager would be a great mentor for him and raise his profile if he has international aspirations, also Leeds have made a wonderful start and look well, placed to do far better than just stay up. Cantwell on his day can do very well in the PL as he showed for us, 7 goals at that level cannot be sniffed at and may make the difference for a club staying up or not, any club form mid table down wards would probably be interested if the price were right
  23. Excellent footballer, career ravaged by injury. I think we have had enough of those type of players unless he would be willing to drop to a pay as you play contract which i very much doubt. It depends how much he wants to play and he should be a pretty wealthy man. Also from his point of view how much harm may he do to his future health by continuing to play
  24. Well as others have suggested he will either move on or surprise many of us by signing a new contract
  25. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, the people who have been far from impressed by his attitude are entitled to theirs, that he has talent is not in dispute, He is a valuable asset and if he/we are not careful he will become a depreciating asset, Godfrey and Aarons have been prime examples of dignified respectful professionals, Cantwell has not. Farke is not the type of manager to criticize players without good cause, indeed he is brilliant at developing and nurturing younger players. Cantwell would do well to copy the respected professionals at the club rather than trying to emulate Oliveira
