  1. Its great to see that he is doing well but a slight note of caution 22 is no longer regarded as being young by league standards, Martin is getting game time at 19. His potential game time at Norwich may depend as much in what division we find ourselves in next season as his development this season in league 1.If we are in the championship then he may force his way up the pecking order perhaps at the expense of Zimmermann, and Gibsons move may not go through. If we are in the PL then he may get some game time but it is a huge jump for him and he may only play if we have bad injuries in that position, still great to know that he is doing well.
  2. To say that he is new to this country, this league and is playing out of position he has done wonderfully well. When we have a fit left back he will probably be replaced in that role but given our history of injuries he will be afforded plenty of opportunity to shine in he more comfortable midfield and CB roles
  3. There are only about 2 points separating the top 8. This was our first loss in 11 games so most of us would have taken that at the start of the season, we are ahead of where i thought we would be before Christmas. We had a tired side well beaten on the night, we had no striker and ravaged by injuries its no surprise at all that we have started dropping points. Players seem to be slowly returning and with that the scoreboard will keep ticking over. The club do however even with impact of COVID need to consider spending some of the cash from recent transfers, we are in a great position to kick on and get promoted we really do not want to squander it
  4. Youth needs to be given an opportunity to play in order to show how good/not they are, sometimes this opportunity is afforded due to difficult circumstances like we are experiencing at the moment
  5. This league is tough we know that we have been in it on and off for so long. It is a squad game and we will manage to put out a team which will have a chance of winning, but difficult to see where the goals will come from. That said we are a lot tighter at the back than in the past so we have a chance. Martin looked good the other night and he and Platecha could be very useful on the break if Coventry try and go for the win. Probably has draw all over it
  6. As others have said if it had gone the other way we would have been pretty annoyed, but what goes around comes around, think of all the VAR sickeners last season like the Pukki disallowed goal and penalties not awarded etc, its part of the game, at the moment we may be getting the rub of the green but long over due
  7. Light at the end of the tunnel in so many ways. For the ones that can and want to go have a great time. I Have rolled my ST payment over to 2021/22 by which time i should have had a jab and will be great to return, you never know it may be PL in which case in footballing terms it will have been like being asleep for a year , last game Leicester, possible next game PL ??
  8. For me Gibson is the pick of the CBs but all 3 are pretty good at this level, given our injury history i suspect there will be few games when one is on the bench
  9. He is a big physical presence at this level and that goal will have done his confidence a lot of good. He is starting to show the form that made him such a big part of that promotion which can be good news
  10. Now that the transfer speculation is out of the way and the squad has time to settle i am confident we will pick up our fair share of points. The defense looks better, though we are short on cover here, we are not banging in the goals, but given that we are letting in less this does not matter quite so much. We may yet have to dip into the transfer market when the window opens if we have realistic aspirations of promotion. I suppose my assessment of the start of the season is that there is not a lot to pick between the current top 8 teams. Reading have got off to a good start but it is along season and they can quite easily be pegged back. Teams will take points off each other on a regular basis underlined by Wycombes draw with Watford and near draw with us
  11. When the time is right we all want to go back. I wonder if she ever puts on the National or Local news to see what is happening another week like this and Norfolk may be tier 2
  12. There is no substitute for quality and this guy has it, its all about the blend of the side of course we would not want a team full of Marios but he has that quality to unlock sides, let the younger lads do all the running
  13. Well Birmingham are a decent outfit at this level and 75% possession, a clean sheet and a win is more than fine by me, the squad seems to be settling all over the pitch and i still think there is more to come, give me another 30 games of 20 odd shots, 1 goal and a win and i will not complain
  14. I think everyone needs to calm down and be a tad more realistic. I have always been of the view that next season provides the best opportunity of promotion. We have many decent players in the squad. Most has a fair bit of confidence battered out of them in the second half of last season. The bright stars were always likely to move on or at least think they should move one, in either event not the best platform for mounting a promotion challenge. The new players need time to bed it and tactics need to be tweaked or other sides work you out, then there are the inevitable injuries. It is very early days and at the moment we are a bang average outfit which has to potential to improve, the best is yet to come
  15. I think realistically given the second half of last season, no fans, the transfer turbulence and the bedding in of new players this was probably going to be a slow start to the season. 7 points from 15 will be a disappointment to many but by no means a disaster. I expect the squad to settle and results improve and it is not as though we have been hammered by anyone. Against derby we lost and they had the rub of the green, today we won and we had the rub of the green. I was very pleased to see Huggill get off the mark for us and i think he will be a big player for us this season. No one can ever complain about a win away to a very awkward side and with better results so will come confidence, it cannot be underestimated how much the last half of last season squeezed the confidence out of players, staff and supporters
  16. It was inevitable that we were going to lose some of the crown jewels and i thought 3 or 4 may have gone, so nice to see the others on board for the immediate future in any event. I have been impressed with most of the signings that have made it as far as the first team, i would like to see much much more of Hugill though i really think he is a big threat at this level but not if he is only getting 10 minutes at the end of games. We are now a bit thin in Defense and i do not buy into the debate that Tettey can do a job there,we are winging it a bit a couple of injuries and we could be creaking in that area. Now that the transfer speculation has died down we want to see some good match winning performances from Buendia and Cantwell, they are over due this season. I am not unhappy with any of the departures, with the exception of Trybull who i think could have done a job for us at this level. I would like to see more of the new young blood that we have signed one of the great things about the promotion season was seeing young lads bursting upon the scene. I do not need to remind people that we have got off to a bang ordinary start and already 8 points behind the top 2, that can change quickly but i am now looking for us to kick on as the squad settles and get more points on the board.
  17. 4 games in, 4 points and looking at our departures, injuries and incoming players and performances to date alas the mood music to finish much above top half does not look encouraging. I accept things may change after the window closes and we will know actually which squad we have, but the relegation hangover, allied to the inevitable churn in players may have cemented our financial security over the next few seasons which is nothing to be sniffed at but we look a country mile away from a top 2 side, though i expect our results to improve as the season progresses and the new and young players bed in and find their feet
  18. No surprise to me Government Interviews on the topic have been very damming and i believe the PL have been told in no uncertain terms to bin it or face sanctions and a full review of Governance , then surprise surprise they have all rejected it, not sure where that leaves Rick Parry
  19. He is a promising player, but not much track record yet. I can understand and agree with our valuation, that said if it was the other way around i really would not fancy splashing out £25m on him
  20. well if that unlikely scenario were to happen then most supporters will be getting pretty close to running out of patience and we would be in a relegation scrap. I actually think we will get 4 to 6 points from these games
  21. They may well be on the basis of extra cash particularly in the short term, will keep them all going and probably the vast majority of EFL clubs will not aspire to get into the PL let alone stay there so all the internal PL power grab means nothing to them. BUT the current PL members and the Government are not in favor so it will not fly in its current form. Take out the PL run my just the top 9 and reducing the PL to 18 and they would probably get it through
  22. There are many many tools in the Government box if they want to get nasty to "persuade" the PL to do the decent thing, increasing the level of tax on transfers over and above a certain amount say £20m and above would be a good start, looking at whether it is actually in the public interest to allow a monopoly decision on sports rights on TV may be another, in the post Brexit world making it difficult to get work permits for overseas players and managers, having detailed scrutiny of tax and allowable expenses by clubs, who is a fit and proper person to own or have controlling interests in top clubs, a few foreign owners may twitch with the detailed scrutiny here, bringing pressure on broadcasters etc etc, it may be in the end the PL need a good talking to down a dark ally to persuade them what is in their and best interests
  23. I think the Government will intervene and bring pressure to bear on the PL to release significant funds to allow the lower leagues to survive both in the short and long term. At the moment the PL is still a cozy club, particularly the long standing members, the threat of a public review into governance arrangements, who is a fit and proper person to run a club and potential windfall tax for the benefit of other clubs down the food would frighten the clubs owners to death
  24. We may need one of the to play CB before we have finished !!
  25. Some of the fellow oldies on here may recall the Monty Python dial an argument thread very funny. Don't forget folks we are all on the same side
