Next season.... (hopefully!)
Yorkshire Canary replied to Flinty's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Mid table at best. Yes we are getting results but if we only shade Brighton, walsall, Hartlepool etc then we will struggle against many championship sides -
Huddersfield + Swindon (A), Leeds (H)
Yorkshire Canary replied to Brendo's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Pretty optimistic about us winning the title but have penciled in defeats for us at both Huddersfield and Swindon and beating Leeds. If by any freak we win these 3 fixtures we could be promoted with quite a few games remaining -
For the past 6 weeks or so we have been gringing out resluts which has been great but not really dominating sides. I think we are due to give someone a good thumping soon, most likely time is iMO Southend at home

Eight more wins = 90 points
Yorkshire Canary replied to Gerry Harrison's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Personally I think this season we''ll need at least 96 points to secure promotion and be aiming at 100 to win the league.
I think you are a bit too cautious. The way the top few clubs are going i think 90 will be enough for the championship and 87 ish will get second place -
Anyone Listening to the scrimage at the mo?
Yorkshire Canary replied to Clean Shirt's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
All a bit sad IMO. He has been well looked after by the club for many years in various roles that to be honest are not core business. He has been let go as many sadley are finding at the moment. I do not think his contributions would have added greatly to the clubs fortunes or direction and his salary probably added up to a 100 or so season tickets. He clearly is a good fan of the club and i wish him all the best in his new venture -
The run in (last 16 games)
Yorkshire Canary replied to Mutley's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
90 has been enough in each of the last 5 seasons and sometimes less than 90 wins the title. There is no way IMO that Charlton, Swindon or Colchester will get close to 90 -
Norwich Player wages
Yorkshire Canary replied to Yorkshire Canary's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
I would be gobsmacked if Lambert was on anything like £600 000. £200 000 tops may not even be that much. Our total season tickets sales only bring in about £5m so the maths on a squad of 25 plus as well as managers, and others shows what we can really afford -
Who has the bigger debt - us or West Ham?
Yorkshire Canary replied to BlyBlyBabes's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
If they get relegated i suspect they will be in meltdown. I agree with trying to cut the players wages but it can only be done on a voluntary basis and in the middle of a relegation dogfight may not be the best timing in terms of motivation -
Norwich Player wages
Yorkshire Canary replied to Yorkshire Canary's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Well the club have talked about that for years then gone on to do the opposite. In the championship the Norwich wage bill has been consistently one of the highest despite average players. Who else would have given Worthington a £600 000 a year contract plus all the hangers on, putting players up at Dunston Hall etc -
The run in (last 16 games)
Yorkshire Canary replied to Mutley's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
90 plus should be achievable. I think Orient away will be harder than people think and i fancy us to lose at Swindon as well although i do fancy is to win at Oldham -
I would be interested to know what the latest contracts of the most recent Norwich players are worth, particularly in the Mc Nalley era. The tide seems to have turned in terms of silly wages but how has/is that starting to impact on our club. Promotion appart this is probably the single biggest issue we need to get a grip of to secure the long term future of the club.

Well done Sullivan and Gold
Yorkshire Canary replied to a1canary's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
The wages bubble has burst for most clubs and hopefully over the next few years a bit of sanity will return. -
CURETON to sign for Shrewsbury........
Yorkshire Canary replied to chuffer's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Lets wish him all the best. It was not his fault that he was offered a stupid contract by the goons that ran the club at the time. Even if Shrewsbury only pay £1500 a week towards his wages it still adds up to a bit between now and the end of the season. he should do well for them -
Why should we suddenly fall away?
Yorkshire Canary replied to ROBFLECK's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Its just a depressing few -
I dont think Orient have lost this calender year and are on a good run having also beaten Charlton. I think leeds will have to play very well to win. Thereafter they [ Leeds] have 3 home games on the spin against modest sides where i expect them to steady the ship with 2 or 3 wins

A deserved and overdue defeat
Yorkshire Canary replied to Jim Smith's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Good manager, good squad, good run. A 1 goal loss at a very good top 6 side needs to be kept into perspective. We have been fortunate to get 9 points from the previous 3 games but with holt back i expect 3 points at Brighton but feel a draw is on the cards against the saints -
Dean Ashton was the best centre forward we have had since Chris Sutton, both delivered the goods at the top level. Ashton would have been an England regular had it not been for injury. If we had survived in the premiership then he would have stayed for a few seasons. It was right for him and the club for him to leave when he did. We are in a pickle now what would we have done withought his £7m and his career is over and he managed a few seasons at least on premiership wages
-
I fully expect us to lose 3 or 4 more games before the end of the season but i also expect us to win a lot too and cross the 90 point line for automatic. I honestly think top place will be decided by the outcome of the Norwich v Leeds game
-
Croft was a silly boy leaving us in the circumstances that he did. He would not be welcome back and wingers do not really fit into our system. He cannot get into a very poor Derby side and i expect him to drift down the divisions now in his career
-
No chance at automatic in my view. On a good run and strong at home, but wobbley on the road and too much ground to try and catch up. They could go up via the play offs though i think they are a strong bet there
-
Very little to pick between them and each have a good young manager. The cup runs have distracted leeds as has the beckford situation. We rode our luck against Brentford, walsall and Hartlepool IMO. I expect us to get at least 90 points though and go up. I do feel the automatics are with Norwich and Leeds
-
The lad has potential certainly at league 1 level BUT he needs to play off a big striker ie Holt. I see him as a long term substitute or if Martin gets injured. We have a gap if Holt is missing and is an area of weakness for us
-
Who else can see us thrashing Brighton?
Yorkshire Canary replied to Boyo's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
With holt back and motivated should win by 2 goals -
LET OFF HOOK!..STILL 6PTS CLEAR AT LEAST AS
Yorkshire Canary replied to Eadienhucks's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Narrow defeat against good side on good run and noone else lost. If this is the worst that happens i will be well pleased
