  1. He's not quick. He doesn't really have much of a change of pace which has always been a problem. A lot of players can run at an ok speed in a straight line over a distance. It's the bursts of acceleration that make a difference. I do get that he's done well for Atletico. And Simeone teams are well drilled, defensive outfits but England isn't a Simeone team. And while he might get in the Atletico team would he get in any of the top teams in England? Probably not. I still think he'll go as I think Southgate likes to have some "steady" players.
  2. I think the thing with Trippier is that he's not really strong defensively, probably the weakest of the options when you get him one on one. And though he is good on the ball is he any better than TAA? His lack of pace is a problem at both ends of the pitch. Southgate goes on about how he can play on the left side too but really he's the same as any other right sided playing on the left. He's not natural and he cuts in all the time.
  3. I would take both of them tbf. I wouldn't take Trippier.
  4. I would say he is quite a bit better in defensive situations - although TAA has improved a bit now. Does Guardiola usually pick players who make poor decisions?? Having said that, I do generally agree with most of the team you've picked and your other comments.
  5. What about Walker? Best right back in the country this season. Better defensively and a threat going forward.
  6. Never looked likely with some of the attacking players England have and Southgate has included other players with injury problems.
  7. Yes it does seem to get overlooked (or maybe people just don't notice) that against some of the better operators Skipp hasn't always been as effective.
  8. They also usually have energetic fullbacks.
  9. He absolutely would. I would fully expect he could play at that level. Great player.
  10. In this instance it would appear the attacking side of the game is being undervalued. People can rightly point to a better defence helped by Skipp. But where's our attack without Pukki? Could we be top of the league if Rupp or Tettey or another had been playing in midfield all season? Maybe, maybe not. Could we be top of the league without Pukki? Not a chance.
  11. Likewise without Pukki our attack wouldn't be anywhere near as effective. And it's goals that win you games, promotions and league titles.
  12. How many teams were better equipped for success this season? I love Farke and he's done a great job again but this season isn't like working a miracle.
  13. We'll have to wait and see what Farke thinks. It's hard to fault his judgement on when (or not) young players are ready to step up.
  14. 25 goals, the work rate (attacking and defending) and the sheer brilliance of his movement... I can't see how people can put more than Buendia ahead of Pukki. It's Buendia and Pukki who sh*t the opposition up. The opposition don't look at us and hope Hanley or Skipp aren't playing, they're hoping they haven't got to face Buendia or Pukki. Hanley, Skipp and others have had great seasons but it's Buendia and Pukki who truly make the difference.
  15. Surely Pukki will be in our top 3? Our top 3 should be Buendia, Pukki and one other.
  16. Not surprising when you look at Derby's squad. There's not much to get excited about. No problem with Rooney though. Great player and it'll be interesting to see how he does as a coach in the years to come.
  17. I mean, he has come into a pretty nice setup. He plays in a team which is stronger in most positions than every opponent they come up against. He's also playing in a team that is very good at keeping the ball. He's been brilliant for us but I would say his contribution is quite obvious.
  18. I notice people refer to Skipp's age and career experience quite a bit. It's like he gets bonus points for it.
  19. He's never looked truly good enough to do that - regardless of what he does away from the pitch.
  20. Remember a few weeks ago when he took the opportunity infront of the cameras to do a socially distant goal celebration? What a hero.
  21. Nobody has given us a better game than Barsnely.
  22. Can't see it. Also, not that similar. Skipp is much better at winning the ball.
