1.
With a new manager hopefully on the way, its gonna be interesting to see which players contracts are up this summer, I make it: GK - Gallacher - who i hear is on loan for the season now? DF - Murray, Dublin, Doherty, Halliday, Cave-Brown? MF - Fozzy, Hucks, STR - Ryan Jarvis With 4 out of 5 of the centre backs any manager will have loads of chances to scrap old and get new.  My fear is the strikers who cannot score: Jamie, Martin, Dave, Brown, are all on 3 year deals, and other than the out of sorts Chris Martin, which one could we sell to raise cash?  Jamie is on a 3year deal at 32!! I dont know if missed any, but therefore, any manager will need money or needs to be able to make do with what they have.
Well obviously Gally is on his way. Good luck to the guy, not good enough but a model pro in his time here. I think it''ll be the end for Halliday, Cavey and Jarvis. Dublin looks set to retire. Hopefully when Fozzie comes back he''ll prove himself worthy of a new contract. Although to be honest even if he doesn''t excel he''s probably worth having as a squad player. And if Shackell can be signed on til 2010 then surely Doherty is deserving of a longer contract too? Or is there going to be some double standards? (although I do assume Shacks pockets less than the Doc) As for Hucks..we''ll have to see how he gets on with the next manager, see if he can he can restore some of the confidence and spirit that Peter Grant destroyed.
 2.
With the arrival of Hartson, this will probably mean Dublin will play centreback which should mean the end for Dotherty!!!!!!!!!!
Ridiculous post. If it hadn''t been for Doherty lately we''d have been stuffed worse than we have been. Jason Shackell is the real weak link.
 3. His fitness probably is rubbish. But I don''t care too much really. Let him stand around in the penalty box for 90mins and I''m sure if we put the ball in there often enough he''ll bag a few goals. Doesn''t have to be pretty at the moment, just need results.
 4.
Look at our team! We''ve sold Earnie, Etuhu and Safri. Selling layers may be an excuse but it doesn''t change the fact that we are where we are, Luton fans would tell you that it doesn''t change the fact Luton were relegated under Newell. Maybe it''s just me - I really dislike Newell as a person so that maybe that makes me a bit biased
I think it is just you tbh. I think most people knowNewell is a good manager, if they overlook the odd outburst he might have.
 5.
Newell - no, overated and would make matters at this club worse. Burley - if we could get him i''d be delighted, great manager with good experience and record of success at this level.
Can''t really understand where you''re coming from to say Newell is "overated" but Burley is a "great manager". Judging by his Luton days Mike Newell has proven to be a very good manager. He put together a very decent team that gave everyone a game with very little money to spend. He also takes no sh*t. Not saying Burley isn''t an alright manager but there''s never that much of a gulf between them.
 6.
Huddy...... Shackell  7....solid! I have never hear so much poo in my life. The guy was lost and we looked more shaky tonight at the back than we have in the last 3 without him! He nearly cost us 2 pens, he was ball watching and gets turned far too easily. He wasnt the only one tonight but as per usual his distribution was crap.  I cant believe this guy is club captain. The Doc has excelled without him in the last 3 games, Murray (t''was never a pen) has looked better than him and so to has Dion. I used to rate the guy but now he makes me nervous.
I agree, I think it''s pretty poor that he''s the best option for captain. I also can''t believe (well I suppose I can really) that he''s been signed on til 2010. He''s just so ordinary (at best). Norwich aren''t going too far whil he''s captain and a first choice centreback. The Doc is a better player and defender, in my opinion. But having said that...neither of them are the answer. I wonder how people would view them if the Doc was the player who had come through our youth ranks and Shackell was the one we paid money to bring in...
 7. Think it''s a real shame that so many people have it in for Huckerby/think he''s past it. Well it''s not just a shame, it''s foolish. Personally I''m going to wait and see what he does under a new manager before I write him off. Hopefully he''ll have better fitness then and be able to be played in his best position. Rather than being played out of position and being criticised whenever possible by a manager who is covering for his own poor tactics, poor team selection and lack of adventure.
 8. I don''t know what the Doc''s fitness is like but I''d hope he''s fit so he can carry on in defence and Dion could play upfront with Chris Martin. However, if he doesn''t make it I''d for something like this... Marshall Semmy Dion Shacks Lappin Croft Russell Murray Huckerby Martin Strihavka I think it''s worth giving Murray a run in midfield, if he''s fit... Always thought Drury has been a good servant to the club but maybe it''s time to try Lappin there to see if we see if he can give us a few more ideas with the ball. Upfront it''s time to try Martin as Cureton doesn''t look like scoring at the moment.
 9.
It would appear that Norwich are travelling to QPR on Sunday for an evening kick off Monday. The whole squad in a hotel overnight really is money that could be saved.
Don''t see a problem myself. It''s a good way of keeping the lads together and trying to get a good spirit amongst the group. Football comes first and all that...
 10.

i thought murray looked good last night - and quite classy - he''ll get better the more games he gets, make no mistake.  the player tired last 20 mins quite badly, and obviously isn''t match fit just yet, and along with a groin hindered doc, presented scunny with chances they shouldn''t have had.  i was impressed.
Yup, I thought he defended quite well last night apart from when he tired towards the end. He seems to read the game well, a good tackler and doesn''t seem to panic. Thought he looked decent against Wednesday too. Thought the Doc did very well last night, clearly hampered by an injury but he gave everything to the cause and defended well. The boos and jeers when he made the slightest mistake were absolutely pathetic.
You thought the doc played well? You didn''t see just before half time when he went to clear a ball,he swung at it, missed it, ended up on the floor and the scunthorpe forward was clear on goal! He should of buried it but very lucky for us he put it wide!
Yup, he played well. I saw that incident but that doesn''t detract from the fact he turned in a good performance for City. Anyone who thinks otherwise probably only sees what they want to see.

 12. Not a good performance from him tonight, you could tell he knew it''d be his number up when Martin was coming on. Bit of a "nearly man" at the moment is Cureton. He nearly gets there but never quite does actually get there. Would expect Martin to start the next game alongside Dublin.
 13.
and if we win?
Await the match fixing investigation.
 14. Marshall Semmy Doc Murry Drury (or Lappin) Croft Brellier Rusty Huckerby Cureton Dion Plenty of experience, strength and energy in midfield, pace on the flanks and two goalscorers upfront.
 15.
I guess I would go for something like    Marshall Otsemobor   Doherty   Murray  Drury Croft   Brellier  Russell   Huckerby              Cureton Dublin Subs: Gilks, Chadwick, Spillane, Lappin , Strihavka   Possibly even swapping Hucks and Lappin, as he appears off the boil at the moment.
I pretty much agree with that. But maybe Lappin at left back instead of Drury? I haven''t got much a problem with Drury but Lappin has got a few more ideas with the ball at his feet so would like to see how he''d link up with Hucks now that he''s been here a little while. I''d also include Brown on the bench, if were were clinging on to a lead and needed someone to graft for the last few minutes then I''d rather it be him than Chadwick.
 16.

I know a lot of people were critical that Earnshaw didn''t fit into the set up of our team, but what you can''t deny is his scoring record.  Also the fact that he achieved that in a poor, struggling team and got very little service.  If he were still with us, he would have probably scored 4 or 5 by now and our league position would be very different. Imagine where we would have been without his goals last season.  Think we''re about to find out..... Doesn''t seem to be getting much of a chance with Derby- cheeky loan offer?
We would miss anyone with a goal every 1.5 games record. I said Cureton was a poor replacement for Earnie but it gives me no pleasure to be proved right. Colchester must be laughing all the way to the bank with that £800k. The guy was never worth more than half that figure. Don''t get me wrong I liked Jamie when we had him as a kid but he''s never been an Earnie and he never will be.
Couldn''t agree more. Having Cureton upfront instead of Earnshaw is a definite step back. I still think Cureton is a decent signing for us but I''ve always said, since the captures of Cureton and Dave, that we need another striker to come in. If Norwich were going anywhere in this league then Cureton would be good backup.
 17.
you gotta give strihavka a chance and what about jarvis he played excellent against man city and was the best player for us gainst sw
I didn''t see the Man City game but did you really think Jarvis was our best player against Wednesday? For me he looked badly off the pace of the game and struggled to make any impact. His passing was very limited and he showed no real invention.
 18.
Harsh, very harsh, I thought Drury, Spillane and Rossi J were the only players to come out of the game with any credit.
I thought Rossi Jarvis had a poor game. Was way off the pace and struggled to make any impact. When he did get the ball he could only use it sideways or backwards. Apart from one hopeless attempt at a ball over the top and one decent bit of link up play with Semmy at the end. With Spillane providing the graft you really need a better player than Rossi to apply the craft.
 19. Well there''s no doubt that they''re all decent players but most would want a high wage. I imagine people aren''t taking a punt on Kallon because of a certain ban he had from football that lasted several months. Also maybe work permit issues? Dunno. If you wanted to get picky, Michael Reiziger is really a right-back. That''s what he''s made his name in football as. Not a midfielder. Matt Jansen...once upon a time he could have gone quite far in the game but he''s finished now.
 20.
to be fair the team id choose is             marshall semmy  jarvis   murray  shackell              spillane croft                        lappin            russell       cureton   martin subs    gilkes, strihavka, brellier, fozzy, smith, dublin
That is a bizarre defence. You''ve got Jarvis at centreback (struggled in midfield today) who is never ever cut out to be a central defender. And you''ve got Shackell who is never cut out to be a fullback at leftback.
 21.
Any manager who takes over the squad now would have no transfer budget to speak of, and could only make loan signings between now and January.  To me this means that unless someone else can get more out of the current squad than Grant can, there''s no point in letting him go.  Grant claims to know which players he wants to bring in on loan, so what''s stopping us doing this ?  Any new manager could easily send the loan players back if they didn''t want them.
Who would want to come and play for us at the moment?? We''re playing rubbish football and surely to people on the outside of it all it''ll look as if the manager could be on his way anyways.
 22.
Grant watched the midfield get overun in the second half and what did he do? He swapped the center forwards. It was crying out for Russell to come on. God give me strength.
Indeed. I thought Spillane did well enough but Rossi Jarvis was a passenger, yet he still played the 90 minutes. Couldn''t understand why Lee Croft didn''t feature from the start and why Rusty didn''t make an appearance.
 23. He has got to go. Bad team selection yet again today.   I can''t believe how many people are getting on Huckerbys case on the radio, can nobody see that the manager has destroyed him?
 24. Evans, Eagles and Martin would all be handy signings.
