1. Its worth pointing out that Sunderland lost most of their games before Roy Keane arrived and they are my tip to finish top. Worthy and PG probably have different styles of management but with the same results.....inconsistency and injuries. I do not expect any major improvement next season and see mid table as the best we can expect for the forseeable future.
2. Can anyone explain what all the finger pointing, arm waving, wolf whistling, screaming antics by the managers is all about. Presumably they explain to the players exactly what is required from them before kick off and then they spend the next 90 minutes hysterically gesticulating to every point of the compass in a vain attempt to re-emphasise their instructions to.......presumably, a bunch of players who completely lose their memory directly after kick off. I thought it was just a PG thing, but noticed on the telly George Burley and Billy Davies doing the same......................and then there is Mike Newell who just stands with arms folded propping up the dug out.......food for thought considering Lutons current plight !
3. Presumably McSheffrey is banned from the Birmingham game so we might sneak a point. Stoke have proved very difficult to beat this season, might sneak another point. Colchester, I just can''t see us getting anything there despite their decline. Heck thats only 2 points.......back in the relegation mire. I like your confidence and hope you are right.
4. My money is going on George Bush to be the first American president to walk on the moon! I think I stand a better chance of winning some dosh!
5. Machman As I have posted earlier, yes I am for real, and if you will still be in the Barclay in many years time after many of these players and the manager has gone then you are a true supporter like myself. I have more of a problem with certain types of support during the game rather than venting your feelings at the end, I just felt that Chris Brown was unfortunate to be on the pitch when all chanted "what a load of rubbish ", I am not sure that will help get his career here off to the best possible start. We put many of these players on a pedestal and often forget they are human and subject to the same weaknesses and feelings as the rest of us.
6. I think you should have the name of every single player who ever played for Norwich tattooed on your body. Sorry, how much was the voucher for ???
7.
The vast majority of people around me seemed to be supporting the team for the whole 90 minutes and saved showing their feelings until the final whistle, which, in my opinion, is the way it should be. Of course there were many times during game when groans were let out as the mistakes multipled, but what do you really expect? Ok, there have been many times in the past when the crowd have made more noise, but, equally, there have been many occassions when the atmosphere was a lot worse.
I suppose what I expect ( or perhaps what I hope for ) is that we all stick together. I come from the part of the ground where one guy shouts and complains about every single decision ( he definitely see''s the world through yellow and green glasses ! ) and wants everyone sacked including the referee, his assistants, the ball boys, the tea lady etc etc so sometimes its difficult to tune in to some of the other crowd reaction from other parts of the ground, but I take your point. It sounds like we are not in unison and there are differing reactions to events on the field from different areas of the ground.
8. And here lies one of the fundamental issues with regard to the wonderful game of football that has its extreme high''s and low''s. The difference between success and failure is wafer thin and had Huckerby taken his chance and we won the game the postings on this messge board could possibly have been much more positive. Huck''s sure can be frustrating sometimes but as he can be a real crowd pleaser I think we will just have to accept this weakness from time to time. I''m not sure at this stage of his career he is drastically going to improve this part of his game.
9. Some very interesting responses, but its a pity that some points I have made in which I agree with many of you have been ignored. I have clearly stated that I am not happy and that there are many ways to voice our opinions. All I am doing is questioning exactly what we have to gain by our negative responses during yesterdays game. Paul McVeigh ( regardless of what we think of him ) never stood a chance from the very first time he touched the ball, indeed following his second touch people around me were shouting " get him off ! ". Its easy to support your team when you are successful and being swept along on the crest of a wave. I challenge you to give your vocal support for the long term benefit of the club and to help keep us in the championship whilst things are going badly. That will identify the true supporters. And, in reply to another post, yes I am for real. I went to my first game when I was 8, ( thats 42 years ago ) and have supported them regardless of the circumstances at this club ever since so I certainly can not be accused of lacking passion. Its a great pity that open discussion can not occur without other posters rubbishing someone elses opinion just because they disagree.
10. Surely a Norwich City supporter goes to the game to cheer on whoever happens to be wearing the yellow and green. I am far from happy with the current situation and agree with many of the criticism''s posted. So while we wait for the board to be sacked, the manager to be sacked, the players to be shipped out, what are you going to do ? Well if you are that p.......d off and want to do something different with your money, thats fine ! But for goodness sake, if you do go to the game, whats the point in booing, getting on the players backs at the first sign of danger and chanting " what a load of rubbish " at the end. I''m sure most of them know we think they are crap without being reminded about it all through the game. If we are helpless to change many of the things we think would improve this club ( and lets face it we all have different opinions ), the least we can do is cheer the team on regardless, as once thats gone no player is going to want the ball anyway. I felt sorry for Chris Brown, pilloried before he arrived, did his best under very difficult circumstances and left the field to a chorus of " what a load of rubbish ". What sort of support is that ! If you want to improve our chances of relegation, then carry on with more of the same ! OTBC
11.
If they took a Champions league spot and gave it to the winners of the FA cup this would most definately keep the so called BIG teams interested in it and put more presure on them to do well! also with the fact that there would only be 3 league berths if one missed out the financial cost would be huge so teams would have to think less about buying overblown forigners and look more at a fruitful youth set up. IMO
By the time the big guns are entered into the FA Cup they seem to have a pretty good idea if they think they will qualify through a league position and still put out a weakened sides, but I think I can see how your proposal could potentially improve things.
12. There has been great discussion about the Crofty''s backheel against Tamworth with regard to taking the pee out of lesser opposition. Taking the various views posted on this subject and using them with reference to the Liverpool 3 Arsenal 6 game. Are these teams not taking the biggest pee out of all the other teams outside the premiership by making an absolute mockery of a quarter final cup competition with the players they put out. As far as I''m concernerned Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd can all bugger off and join a European league ( after all they are all foreigners anyway - well mostly ) before they ruin the FA Cup in the same way. We might then get some meaningful cup competitions back in the UK - what do you think ?
13. One things for sure, if we are not challenging for the play offs in 2008 Grant wont be here to witness anything in 2009 such is the lack of patience of the modern day fan and fan power in getting a manager the sack !
14. Where do you think she was ?? Here are a few options, 1) Round mine eating a cheese and pickle sandwich, watching it on the box. 2) A wine tasting party. 3) Watching a video of her appearance on Jonathan Ross. 4) At the Chester v Ipswich game. 5) Reading the message boards and thinking to herself " why do I bother ". 6) Out to lunch with Nigel, his treat ( he must have some of the 600k left! ) 7) Outside Tamworth ground in disguise selling those priceless Tamworth/Norwich scarfs. 8) Auditioning to be chosen to pick the balls out of the bag for the fourth round draw. 9) Inventing an automatic egg shell peeler. 10) Or - none of the above, but if you choose this option you must state where YOU think she was! ps I was going to put a bet on the bookies for Norwich to win 5 - 1 but decided to keep my money, didnt enjoy the last few minutes !
15. You confuse low expectations with realistic ones - GET REAL! I am over the moon with avoiding a potential banana skin, a great win ! Tamworth beat Rushden & Diamonds ( recent league side ) and Burton Albion ( 3rd in conference ) to get this far. One thing is for sure, however many points we pick up in the next 3 games you will be unhappy. Who cares we have 5 points from last 7 games, its history !
16. Can''t see anything other than a comfortable win for City. If we frig this one up the message boards will crash due to overload. 5 - 1 to City.
17. Your points are interesting but I would like to take issue with you with regard to Norwich fans. Your comments have an element of truth about them but it must be recognized that they can be attributed to every team in the land, it is all about expectations. We had ours raised after we were promoted and tasted the high life of the premiership for a brief spell and the support, when we were up against it most weeks was phenomenal. After relegation, the expectations remained high, thats human nature and many teams in our position have failed to live up to them. We have gone through this period and now you will see that the expectations are now lower as many fans are thinking in terms of avoiding relegation. I notice that Chelsea were booed off the pitch recently after a home draw, a classic example of how their fans expectations have changed in recent years. The fans who moan and groan ( including myself ) do it because we care. But unlike many of the hangers on who joined the bandwagon when we were flying high, we will still turn up to the games even after relegation because....well thats what genuine fans do !
18. I can remember getting in the stand with the players after drawing with 1 - 1 with Watford 1971/72 as a 15 year old lad. Can also remember Kev the Cat pushing the ball in the face of an opponent whilst about to kick the ball up field and getting sent off. What was that all about then ? I''d like to know who the opponent was, who we were playing and what was the score ?
19. It doesn''t bear thinking about. The only catalyst for teams rising from the ashes is when someone comes in and invests megga bucks. Success is not always immediate but its only a matter of time before the financial clout ensures that these teams emerge from obscurity - thats why West Ham wont get relegated ! Its crucial that we remain in the championship, after all while we are there, however poorly we are playing we are just one season away from the premiership !
