1.
in all honesty is norwich a step up from bristol c - given current circumstances''? i know you have better potential but so have forest over wigan bristol c more stable team than you are and quite frankly have better players now in trundle, mcindoe
They also have a chairman who is willing to invest to make the Premiership
 2.
No way.
Having looked at the guy''s CV, could you please explain the blanket dismissal of Royle.  He is someone who has done the business at this level (and indeed higher), he is in the NCFC Hall of Fame (mind you so I think so are Delia and MWJ as no doubt others will be quick to point out).  The two main objections I detect are a) he managed Ipswich - well as someone else has pointed out so did Bobby Robson and he was a better manager than many we have had over the years; and b) he looks like Mr Potato Head (and if looking a bit odd was a reason not to employ someone then Smudger would never find work - mind you could explain how he has so much time to post on here).
 3.

Because the board will want someone guaranteed to get the support of the fans. That could be achieved with the likes of Jewell and Mourinho (obviously no chance) but Jewell will stay premier league. The only other options are ex players with reputation. Who else is there, Dublin, Iwan etc have no experience in which case that leaves Crook or Bowen, I think it''ll be Crook.
Maybe the board could be thinking of bringing in Joe Royle and Chippy as his first-team coach with a view to possibly taking over the managerial reins in a couple of years. Mark .Y.
Now that might not be a bad suggestion - Royle has a pretty formidable track record of promotions at smaller clubs and his teams usually played good football.  Looking to build some experience into Crook with a view to the future and promoting from within.  Be a bit like the old days with John Bond/Ken Brown/Dave Stringer etc and the foundations they laid saw us through some of the best years in our history.
 4. I agree he has a pretty impressive list of achievements as a manager over a prolonged period: - went from Div 2 to Premiership with Oldham on a limited budget, plus a League Cup final and two FA Cup semis. - won FA Cup with Everton - two more promotions with Man City - couple of play off finishes with Ipswich OK he has been out of the game for a while, but that seems a pretty impressive CV.  Odd then that so many on here seem to dismiss him out of hand.  He wouldn''t be my first choice but I can think of a hell of a lot worse.
 5.
Ian Crook has been out of the English game for a long time and has zero management experience here.
Agreed, not what we need as a manager in the present climate.  How about as assistant to a more experienced guy though?
 6. Anybody inexperienced - we need a manager who knows what it is like to work on limited resources at this level and in this country.  While I idolised the likes of Crook and Bowen as a youngster, and Dion is a great pro now, none has the required experience for me.  Also, Hoddle, Keegan et al are not only wildly unrealistic but I dont think they can cut it on a limited budget and with players who are less technically gifted than in the Prem.
 7. To be fair, if you read the article he is not actually advocating Robson (or Warnock) for manager but rather posing a number of hypothetical scenarios about the possible post-Grant/Delia world.
 8.
Its Hucks, Jamie, Brellier, Chadwick, and even Russell. All come with big reps, and have been average to awful!
Think you could be right - interesting though that 4 of that 5 were his own buys.
 9.
How many managers are we going through in such a short period of time? Hamilton, Worthington, Grant. We will never be a stable football club while we keep chopping and changing, it isn''t good for the players. I think we need to try to hang onto a manager for more than a year at a time. What does it cost to keep sacking every manager we get in both money and destabilisation?
Up until last night I would have agreed with you. I was always for not taking panic action until Grant had been given 10 games with his own team to show what he could do.  However after last night; the similar no shows against Sheffield Wednesday aand Wolves; the manner of our performances generally this season; the increasingly bizarre tactical decisions (not all of which are due to injuries that currently seem to curse us); the seeming absence of any confidence or desire in the team etc I just cannot see how we can justify not taking action. You worry about destabilisation, but we dont look a stable ship at the moment - like in the last days of Worthy the players seem to have lost faith in the manager.  I just dont see how he can turn this around.  On paper this squad does not look bottom three material, but on the pitch they sure as hell do right now.  The only solution for me is now for Peter to go with some dignity in tact and the board to get an experienced replacement in who can get the best out of what we already have plus some player investment in January.  Whether they are up to doing that remains to be seen...
 10.
Peter Grant might post he wants PG as manager........[:-*]
Judging by his comments on Radio Norfolk even he is now in two minds.
 11.
Division 1 here we come... and I would just like to say a personal thank you to all the Percy Positives who have supported the muppets in taking us here!!!
Smudger, I didn''t think there was anything that would make me feel worse tonight after witnessing that crock - then along you come.  And what makes it even worse is it is impossible to disagree with you this evening. [:$]
 12.
So * OFF!!!!!
When does the postal strike end?????
 13.
Lappin - 1 - appears to have been possessed by the spirit of Carlton Palmer
Didn''t think anything would lighten my mood tonight but you have achieved it - thank you
 14. On the evidence of tonight plus the performances against Wolves, Sheff Wed and Charlton surely this must be the end of the road for Grant.  Utterly inept from start to finish again, no attacking threat, no ability to retain possession, hardly two passes put together all night against a team that hadnt won in 6 months and hadnt kept a clean sheet all season. Over the years I have seen some bad performances (it''s part of the delights of being a football fan), but in the last few games we have descended to lows I simply dont remember in 25 years.  I am not sure if I am more angry or ashamed tonight to be a Norwich fan. Will another manager turn this around?  Who knows but I cannot see them doing any worse.  And as for the board, time to take a long hard look at themselves and their part in this debacle. On the ball City.........[:''(]
 15. Marshall is keeping us in this - another good save.  Without him it would be a bloody rugby score.
 16. 100th post can indeed mark a goal - pity its for QPR.  [:@] This is painful to watch (again).
 17. Gets better - Dion off at halftime. Come on city, please amke my 100th post a goal to celebrate. [:(]
 18.
We are absolutely rubbish. get the bloody ball down on the ground and string more than two bloody passes together. Patience wearing very thin now. Ridiculous.
quote from Gary Birtles on the commentary about us - "i haven''t seen so many aimless long balls played forward for a long time.  Football shouldn''t be like this".  Hard to disagree with him on the evidence of the first half. Only bright spot is that QPR look even worse than us [:|]
 19. 20 mins in and we haven''t managed a meaningful effort on target.  Hux and Martin offering little threat.  You can see why we are having trouble with scoring - it all looks relatively comfortable until we get into the final third of the pitch.
 20. Lets be homest, the game has the look of a dire nil-nil all over it.  We never play well on Sky games.
 21. How about WBA to win at Southampton (Baggies scoring a lot of goals albeit at home recently and generally looking a strong team, Southampton home form pretty dismal)?
 22.
''''Even Lowestoft Ladies would beat QPR!'''' I must agree with you on this one wiz !  They must be a tough old bunch, looking after men running about like headless chickens. Tescos dear?  no Asda!  no Tescos! no Asda!. Sorry hun, I just can''t make my mind up. I think while I''m deciding I''ll just post one more message. Where was I now? Peter has a plan no, Grant out, in, out. in, out. I''m so confused. Are you ready yet dear, right Sainsbury''s here we come !! As I said wiz. they must be a tough old bunch !!
[:D] Nicely put lappinitup
 23.
This is you I''m afraid, Cluck. Stuck in the past, bitter, twisted and deluded. Worst of all you have gradually and progressively turned your discontent into constant sniping at folk who simply wish to enjoy their Club for what it is today and what they hope it will be tomorrow. You have brought out your personal dissatisfaction in the form of withering and desparaging comments against fellow posters and supporters not caring if you taint their pleasure just as long as you are able to self-gratifyingly deflect your own misery onto them. Just accept that for the youngsters today the game is just as magical as it was for you and I in our younger days and give it a rest.
A bit of an over the top reaction to a pretty good thread!  I dont think the game is as magical for kids these days - the chances of seeing anyone outside the big four winning the league nil; the days of a top team going out in the mud of an FA Cup 3rd round tie so much reduced; players falling over at the slightest touch etc.  Sky money is killing the game for me and the sort of atmosphere Cluck refers to seems sadly a thing of the past.  I dont remember quite that far back, but at a time when the present is a pretty miserable place for a City fan this was a nice break from the real world.
 24. but this is the same person who had to be carried off when he was struck by a toilet roll.  I''ve tried to find the footage of that but couldnt. LOL - bit of a glass jaw it would seem!
