1.
Grant Holt will always be an NCFC legend in my mind. The things he has achieved at this club have only been done before by a select few, all of whom are regarded as legends, Grant Holt is no different.
Totally agree with this view.Grant Holt has been a very special player in a Norwich shirt and wherever he goes from here I will wish him well.... even if it''s Aston Villa.

Okay, cards on table, I wanted Holloway as manager, yes I know, mad as a box of frogs but plays exciting football.

There''s something about Hughton, his manner, style of play (very direct, even hoof at times) which I find boring, his ''honest Joe'' image is unsettling to say the least.

His assistant Calderwood is even more so imo, playing Holt as a winger whilst manager at Forest doesn''t help one''s confidence in the man. I think we''re in trouble.

    Anyone else have any doubts?
Not impressed so far Wiz.I''ll give him until the middle of July and reassess things then.  [Y]

  3. "Young and hungry players"? You seem to forget that PL was the master of this and that avenue of shrewd signings has gone with him.Hughton has no record of bringing in talent so no-one knows where this is going. I suspect going for foreigners will only attract the mercenary type looking for a shop window to European level football..... and they won''t find that at Carrow Road on our likely budget.

  4. I see the Deliarites have once again pulled their pants over their heads and put their faith in yet another club ''untouchable''.....The churlish, ungrateful and unnecessary loss of Lambert and Holt will be shown as a seminal moment regarding the progress of NCFC. The recent success built on the backs of two individuals shows a chronic lack of solidity within the club structure and means little has actually changed at CR. We still have hapless owners flapping about the boardroom and a CEO who''s lips move but simply repeat the same old mantra of prudence before progress.PL and GH created what we have achieved over the recent past..... not a sharp suit sitting behind a desk.

  5. Why this questioning as whether Paul Lambert was pushed out or not? It''s clear that his ambitions were not being matched by the ''prudent'' financial strictures within the club. Seeing this and not being backed for his miraculous achievements he was pushed out to seek another club to achieve what he originally planned with NCFC.I''m told all sorts of hear-say nonsense surrounding the Robert Chase/Martin O''Neill/Dean Windass debacle.... yet somehow losing our best manager in a generation has nothing to do with NCFC and is apparently down to Paul Lambert''s intransigence.Get the blindfolds off and look deeper.

  6. 1. Really how many teams have sacked their manager one game into the season?

    2. What makes Norwich any different from Leeds, Ipswich, Portsmouth and many others who have into adminstration. If the creditors hadn''t been persuaded otherwise it would have happened.

    3. Thats the reaction of a supporter who sounds very good at spending other people''s money.

    4. Again crap. The board put out a strongly worded statement saying they would fight to retain him. They did and signed him on an improved deal to emphasise the point.

    5. What do you mean it was never going to happen? We on the verge on signing him but Peterborough moved the goalposts at the last minute. That wasn''t papertalk both sides acknowledge it could easily have happened.

    6. How is it paper hype when one of your directors admits Lambert had a wobble in 2011.

    7. Again utter crap. For starters £50 million was spent by Premier League club in January we accounted for £5 million of that. 10% of the overall total to get 2 very exciting young players in. Thats not bad going.

    8. Again utter crap. Name me one candidate who is realistically better that we could have got. Infinitely better than Steven Clarke who West Brom have appointed. More experienced and much less of a gamble.

    9. Its going to be very tough some good sides have come up. But we have a good nucleus of players. Some defensive strengthening and using Hughton''s managerial skills to smooth over the Holt situation and we can prosper again.

I am usually civil to people on this board. But cluck you total the biggest load of 5hite out of any poster on here.

If you want to post fairy stories expect them to be questioned as there''s not a scrap of fact in your ''list''..... just ''popular'' opinion. While you may disagree with my view of things I can assure you I won''t lose any sleep over it.

Top notch post mate [Y]The Board have been superb but I feel that they are on the brink of making a mistake. Not with PL- as it''s in his nature to jump ship as he''s an ambitious guy and good luck to him- but with Holty.Yes he''s had his demands but why shouldnt he? He''s been immense for us, absolutely amazing. I would have given Holty the 3rd year. EVERY single time that Holty has been doubted he has proved his critics wrong.
The Board has had very little to do thanks to the joy ride provided by Paul Lambert and Grant Holt. They paid peanuts and got lions.... but with money in the bank they failed to capitalise. Their first real test has resulted in the loss of PL and GH..... so what''s so superb about them?
1. First test was making a swift decision on Bryan Gunn and avoiding us being stuck in League 1 for years. Verdict: Passed
    2. Then they had to negotiate with creditors to prevent adminstration. Verdict: Passed
    3. Had to somehow find £1.2 million for Andrew Surman and other players despite being skint. Verdict: Passed
    4. Had to see off potential interest from Burnley. Verdict: Passed
    5. Do we pay over the odds for Mackail Smith who is bang average? Verdict: Passed
    6. Did they manage to settle Lambert down after he wanted to leave in summer 2011? Verdict: Passed
    7. Did they manage to find the money for every player Lambert asked for? Verdict: Passed
    8. Have they managed to find the best replacement available for Lambert? Verdict: Passed.
1.  Smith gave Gunn the job and even a monkey would have sacked him after a 1-7 thrashing at home.2.  Putting giggly celebrity Delia Smith''s toy box into administration would have brought very bad publicity for the creditors. 3.  If an owner can''t scrape together enough pennies to buy a player they shouldn''t own a football club.4. Lambert was never going to Burnley. Popular myth. Paper hype.5. Buying Mackail Smith was never going to happen. Paper hype.6. Lambert was never going to leave in 2011. Paper hype.7. Lambert bought cheap because he had no option. The success of the signings was purely down to his management ability.8. Hughton is an unknown quantity and likely to be another Deliarite ''nice guy'' shoe-horned in without additional interviews.9. It''s all going to go tits up next season.

  9.
A lot I think depends on the structure of the league in five years. Will a European Super league be in place, this could take the top teams, or at least their first teams, out of domestic competitions. If this did happen it could lead to a much more equal and exciting English League or whatever the equivilant might be.
Wouldn''t that be great....I think the likes of Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal et al already see the domestic league as a necessary evil in order to play European football.... so the sooner they set up a separate Euro league the better it will be for English club football.

  10. But spartacus......... Like so many others you read me wrong. It''s not what I hope but what I anticipate.Very different things.I''ve not had any issues with PL (other than after he walked) and I have no axe to grind with Hughton but I have always viewed City''s recent meteoric rise in fortunes as a ''bubble''. I believe that this has just burst and we will now find our ''proper'' league level from next season on... until there is a change of ownership. [:)]I''m just a realist that''s all. [:)]
