1. Travelled up to the game today from Hertfordshire...did seem a bit risky as all the games to the south of us were popping onto the postponed list as we headed north up the M1/M6...even seemed a bit concerned at the amount of white stuff that was falling around the Ricoh on arrival but glad we made the trip...managed to avoid the M1 chaos on the route back by cutting across to Cambridge on the A14, but then caught it all on the M11 southbound...it only takes one jack knifed artic. to f#ck the journey up, but despite a 3 hour standstill it was worth it.
2. Provincial cops playing amateurishly with legislation and gadgets they haven''t got the experience to use proportionately methinks ..." this is what they do down in London so we better do some of it up here in Norwich, or we can''t be considered real police" or am I wrong? Perhaps City''s ''top boys'' have been taken out in this action? I know of one of the nine vaguely, but I would very much doubt it. Like others have said, this should have been dealt with properly at the time.
3. We''ve not had a lot of luck there over recent seasons, but keep positive and with another large lively away following anything is possible. Would like to stuff it up the likes of Sammy Clingan and David Bell.
4.
Considering heading down. Can anyone who already has a ticket let me know if it''s unreserved seating like last year?
Yep! Unreserved seating upper tier. Doubt there''ll be enough of us to open the lower tier...but 2000 on a Tuesday night would be great turnout. If you are travelling by public transport factor in a later train after the game as they tend to hold away fans back for at least half an hour after the game.
5. Welcome to Ipswich Twinned with Ipswich
6. Goreham for me, I like a bit of partisanship with my commentary. Bowler sounds like he likes it when City lose...plays down City goals and makes a big thing about our opposition''s goals. Well he did the last time I was forced to listen to him, over a year ago.
7.
47 mins on the central line to sheps bush.sorted
Sorry to p#ss on the strawberries guys, but there is engineering work on the Central line over the weekend between Liverpool St and Leytonstone which means it is going to take considerably longer from any Central line station in East London. You could try a station with an overground link into Liverpool St, like Barking or Ilford, but it''ll cost you about £8 for a day''s parking due to the lack of on street free parking. But then it''s only £6-50 for your Travelcard for the rest of the journey.
8. For anyone thinking of driving into East London and using the Central Line stations east of Liverpool St, (Favourite ones are Epping and Redbridge)please note that there are engineering works all weekend between Leytonstone and Liverpool St, which will take away serious beer time (iro 50 mins).
9. There was an immense noise and atmosphere all round the ground yesterday, but agree that a bit more variety is needed. Some of the old songs were better when we stood on terraces, they created energy, rather than merely express it. One of my favourites was "When you''re smiling", which wasn''t exclusive to City, but could give you a buzz when the team was on top, but could equally raise the spirits when things were not going well.
10. Well I''ll certainly be hoping for a win...why else would I be making the trip?
11. I was really glad this fixture came up because I''m going to miss both the Swansea game and Forest away due to family holiday...but as i will be in the Lake District it''s a great opportunity not to miss.
12. Forget the looks...look at the way they play. Chalk and cheese I would say... Lappin - grit and determination, incisive balls and great crosses, shows leadership and willing to take the game on. Surman - dancing around with meaningless little touches, hiding, shadowing the players he is marking from too great a distance to put any real pressure on them. At the moment Surman strikes me as a player who has dropped down from Premiership who thinks he can ''walk it'' at this level. He needs to take notice of the attitude of Lappin and others, so that we can truly say the two of them are ''peas in a pod"
13. Ordinarily, this mid week fixture at the other end of the country would give me little opportunity to get to, BUT...will be in the Lake District for the week so Ewood Park here we come!
14.
i never sit in my usual seat in the lower barclay for these games for this reason, i just try and get a seat with the best view, halfway line. much more enjoyable
That''s probably to be said for the rest of the season...but good to hear a Barclay boy recognise that you can be a supporter of our club from other parts of the ground
15. The season before last, I took a 6.30am flight from Stansted to Newquay, had a full English overlooking the beach, got a 10am train up to Plymouth...few pints in the city centre before the game. Watched our 2-1 win in fabulous sunshine and got the train back to London with a few Stellas to keep me company...Great day out
16. Cant believe they charged us £18 tonight
17. It may have been quick and seemed a tad quick to desert us but he is Scotland''s No.2 and unlikely to promote himself in League 1. I''m glad he did move on...would he have shown the commitment and skills that Forster has in abundance, having dropped down a level?
18. I''ve just fostered a kid from Ipswich...caught him on the back of the head with all four cans
19. Me and Miss Hools will be there. Just look out for the trainers and err...my name on my back.
20. It was awsome at the Valley...did we get much coverage on the beam back?
21. Its all very academic now, but this has been the practice for some time now at a number of clubs...However, I wonder whether if you had bought a cheap souvenir from their on-line shop, or something else rather cheap, that you would then have qualified as a previous customer and thereby have been eligible to buy a ticket. At various times over the last few years I''ve registered with a number of clubs and get annoying e-mails from their marketing teams, but if pushed I''d give it a run in the future to get tickets if I was out of the reckoning with out allocation.
22. Just back from the game...hope you guys had a great time at the beam back...it was absolutely mad at the game...didn''t want to leave the ground, Looking forward to the big home party next week,
23. Olly was the best of the three up front tonight, but mainly because of his work rate. Elliot didn''t get the service so he was jumping hopefully for anything but got nothing. Martin poorly timed all his jumps for the ball and got nothing all night and if he hadn''t of hit the post with his first half lob wouldn''t be worth a mention on any account. Hughes had the best chance late in the second half from a nod on from centre forward Doc but the keeper saw too much of it and made the save.
24. Nelson looked to be at fault for both goals from where I was ...he stood like a statue for the second. Even if he thought there was an offside, experience should have told him that with refs at this level, you play the whistle.
25. Just back in from the game and will agree totally that Nelson and Martin were our poorest performers tonight. Nelson has been weak for a few games now and I would like to see Spillane back but with so little of the season left i cannot see him getting another run. Grant Holt has been brilliant, but the disruption he has caused to our consistency because of his bookings/sending off is the most concerning aspect of our season. Tonight there wasn''t too much in the way of play making. Constant high balls and head tennis made it a very scrappy affair, very little flowing football as the skill level was very poor. Cannot see us getting too much at the Valley, despite our fantastic support.
