1. "the reason he doesnt play for Ireland is because hes a luxury player, who cant really play effectively anywhere else other than behind the striker ..." Then why does Trap pick him?
2. If Hools does not get a game against Georgia he should hang his international boots up...at least whilst Trap is in charge. Don''t know which is more of an insult...not being picked for the squad or being selected and being the only forward player not used.
3. I am not so sure Hooper could be attracted here. There is only probably one managerial job vacant that would attract Neil Lennon and with the Everton job likely to be taken by Martinez, Lennon will stay for another year for Champion''s League competition and so I suspect that Hooper will do likewise. Celtic is a bigger global brand than half of the EPL and I suspect he will be happy to ply his trade there in the guarantee that he will score goals and he will be loved by the ''Hoops'' fans for a bit longer. Why risk an uncertain future down south? ....in short as long as Lennon keeps that team together, the likelihood of Hooper coming to CR seems a long shot ...in my humble opinion
4. This is a one match ban case...no dangerous or violent conduct ...same offence as Ruddy got sent off for against Chelsea at the start of last season
5. Thought Seb deserved an ''assist'' today for Kamara''s goal ...celebration! Great moves!
6. First time I heard this song at Loftus Road yesterday...obviously has been refined since last discussed on here but sounds really good... A second verse including the line "...he wears a sombrero, and now he''s a yellow" adds a bit more
7. I think you have to take the whole QPR ''package'' into consideration but that is no credit to the club itself. It is cramped, particularly the top tier but as others have said, there is always a good atmosphere there. However I''m not sure that anyone outside of the away end would know that sometimes. My sense was that we were making a fair bit of noise, being in a position directly above the goal, but a mate of mine who had to sit with the home support towards the other end thought we were very quiet. I think that was down to just having the upper tier and acoustics...they should upgrade it feels like a League 1 venue, old school or not! As for the whole ''package'', I love the area, great choice of pubs and eating and QPR fans are generally a good craic!
8. How about the very familiar "We are Leeds, we are Leeds, we are Leeds" (To the tune of "we are Leeds")
9. Feeling the financial pinch myself and not being able to sit in my regular seat in Block K Jarrold, having a drive of 2 hours each way, a game against top class opposition on Wednesday night and the expectation that we should have professionally dealt with Luton, all led me to a decision not to go to the game...but listened to the game from start to finish over the Internet and as gutted as all of you at the result and our ineffectiveness ...do I feel responsible for the result because I stayed away? Do I f##k!
10. We needed a front to back performance today and whilst most had a good game, particularly our back line and keeper, I thought that Pilkington was ghosting around for most of the time providing little energy defensively with only a few attacking probes which failed to link with the rest of the attack. Tettey for all his lateral movement made too many mistakes and jonno''s sense of direction could of been better despite his energy. All in all, not a bad performance against the European champions ...bring on the the other Mancs!
11. Couldn''t get to West Brom last week so resorted to listening to game on radio Norfolk and was disappointed to see and hear his unique tones on Sky Sports covering the Birmingham game and realising he wouldn''t be sat with Chris Goreham...worse to come was to hear Gunny sitting in for him. I think he has become the kiss of death on our results when on the radio...come back Macca!
12. ...if you come into the Barclay stand, we''ll all stick in the boot" grrrr!!!
13. Takes me back to the 70s thinking about my first visits to the Barclay stand...the place resembled a big cow shed...yes there was the roof, but the rear of the stand was grim...cops used to throw you about like they were farmers throwing sheep around at shearing time...and I guess there were a few animals in there, ...awwww but they were happy days...and we would sing, "I was born under the Barclay stand, I was born under the Barclay stand..." to the tune of Lee Marvin''s ''Wandering Star'' Those were the days! lol
14. Given recent goal tallies, great to keep a clean sheet against the Arse...fantastic to get one over the Arse... Doesn''t sound right does it?
15. Was disappointed to see Probert officiating yesterday, as I agree with the rating in this post. Four yellows to a team that have only received 2 so far this campaign...and none of them worthy of such. Something not right there! Feeds the conspiracy theorists on referee impartiality... Oh and to answer the question about Holt over the Tettey incident, my take on this from the front of the Jarrold was that Holt looked like he kicked the ball out which stopped play
16.
I dont think any fan could agree on a best starting 11, this was something thrown at Lambert aswell. The problem isnt the starting 11 it''s about how they go about playing the matches and set up against the opposition. Worringly we seem defensively weaker if anything than we did last season and it''s not because poorer players are playing, imo alot of it is stemming from the fact teams arnt having to worry about us in a attacking threat as much.
A good point...Holt up front on his own was not going to preoccupy all the back line, and with Cole and Ivanovic getting forward so much they were spoilt with attacking options
17. Walking back along the Fulham Rd yesterday after the game there was a character selling Arsenal toilet rolls at a fiver each...they were queuing up for them...early Christmas shopping, no doubt.
18. We need a win soon...confidence is going to be key and the longer we are giving away games, Hughton will continue to experiment. Bassong is a huge leader on the field as well as giving us a stronger back line...I agree that with Holt back on the goal trail, there is more hope. I am hoping we can get the midfield sorted...lots of good individuals, but always seems a bit cluttered and confused as to where the channels are. We were up against the European champions yesterday...and it showed!
19. That should have been Leppings Lane...not Epping (damn predictive text!)
20.
So many memories of that day...had put so much effort into getting ticket for the semi final..working in London ay the time, I had to travel up to Norwich for an early morning queue for tickets some days before the game...was at Carrow Rd at 6am ...then travelled from London to central Birmingham by National Express coach with quite a few Everton fans. Then a train from New St to Aston made it something of an ordeal before the game started. That should have been Leppings Lane...not Epping (damn predictive text!) Half way up the Holte End was packed and really was only aware of something going wrong at Hillsborough from the ground''s big notice board at half time, which I think said something about delayed start and a serious incident. Obviously very disappointed to lose the game and I remember the crush as I moved towards the exit. I don''t think I have ever had such an uncomfortable experience at a football ground ever...and can only imagine how much worse it was for the thousands of Liverpool fans at the other semi final that afternoon. I don''t think I realised what had happened there until I got back into London although in the confusion of the afternoon my family had worried that I had been in Sheffield, not being big followers of football...and it being long before mobile phones were in widespread usage. Visiting Hillsborough many years later, I found the Epping Lane end of the ground, under/behind the stand a horrible experience and can''t get over how small and claustrophobic the exits from the terrace are
22. Agree with all...Johnson really stood out today, and would have deserved the winner with that late powerful drive that Friedel had to push back at him Garrido is a class act and Bassong is solid, with more creativity and eye for an attacking pass than any centre back we have had in recent years
23. Agree! Last week at Fulham they were falling over each other, but today seemed to have established their own operating areas and regained their understanding and appeared as a very solid midfield trio, unfortunately Pilks didn''t seem on their wavelength for much of the time.
24. Good game for Bradders today...good distribution and fiercely competitive
25. I have 2 Ipswich away stubs from our famous 1-5 victory...both signed by our 4 goal scorers, mounted in a frame with the matchday programme and press headlines from the match...priceless
