2.

That''s only helpful if there''s a price on the odds comparison site Purple. It''s in our library.
---   nutty, there is on oddschecker a bwin quote for the three Libyan games. No odds yet on the Tunisian games, and indeed I now see that three of them are being scheduled for Christmas Day rather than Boxing Day. If there is an advantage to these games, assuming they take place on Boxing Day, it is that they are unlikely to fall foul of the weather,  unlike some of the UK games that may get picked by posters.
Sorry Purple, I was in a hurry earlier and didn''t have time to check. UK and Belgium play on Boxing Day. And thank you for finding the games in Tunisia and Libya. If there''s a bwin market then they''re fine to be picked. But obviously they must be played on Boxing Day because I can''t get the bet to Billy before then. I notice last weekend Belgium only lost 3 games to the weather so they fared better than UK. I reckon the best chance of games being played in England will be in the top two divisions. I''d be more wary of the lower leagues remembering what happened when we went to Walsall last Christmas!   I feel a little guilty for giving this week to Graham but I honestly believe he is up to the challenge. If anyone can find us six winners in games that are played Graham can. Now Graham, I don''t mind when you post your selections. I just need them to be online on Boxing Day morning so I can get them to Billy.

 5. Greetings PUPs and welcome to week twenty one of the free bet season. We are now into the second half of our season. Despite this being a difficult season for selections (As the PUPs League shows) you brilliant team of PUPs have already managed four wins putting £161 into our bank for FONCY. This week we have top PUP and long time league leader Graham Humphrey in charge and making the final selections. Graham has been at the top of our league all season having made 18 correct selections in the 20 weeks so far. In fact, added to his impressive 85% last season Graham has made 53 correct selections from his last 60 picks. Giving him an incredible strike rate of 88% over the last two seasons. Those of you who know Graham from our meets will also know that he is a top bloke too. Always with a smile and a great sense of humour he epitomises the spirit that Ray managed to put into these threads.   Of course good as Graham is he can’t get us another win without the help of our wonderful team of PUPs. Last week was probably your best ever. Taking out the postponed gamess 39 from 41 PUPs selected correctly which was a staggering 95%. But we all have our work cut out this time. The fixtures we have to select from are those played on Boxing Day. So there is no safety net of going to warmer climes to beat the weather. And Graham probably has the most difficult task that any of us have ever had. There doesn’t appear to be any let up in the freezing weather so finding six that are actually played will be extremely difficult. I have found this site on The Beeb  which shows the weather forecast for all the teams in England and Scotland so I hope it will be useful to all of us. And don’t forget that there’s lots of good information available in our PUPs Library on the NCISA web site.   I am still putting together the rota for January’s final selections. Provisionally I have: - January 1st Hissing Sid confirmed. January 8th Obiwancanary confirmed. January 15th Excited Canary January 22nd Sports Desk - Pete January 29th City-Til-I-Die confirmed. So Pete and Excited, if you have managed to get this far through nutty‘s ramblings, could you confirm if those dates are ok.[;)]   We have two birthdays today. Many happy returns to PUPs Hissing Sid and Duncan Edwards. And tomorrow it’s happy birthday to part-time PUP Morty. Leave us a selection Morty if you’re looking in.[^]   And of course I’d like to wish all you PUPs and your families a very Merry Christmas.   I ’ll hand the free bet over to Graham now. Enjoy your week in charge, there’s no pressure because we are all going to be doing our best to help you get your name in the Free Bet Hall of fame. We all stand together with the single aim of raising money for our great clubs academy. Good luck all you PUPs... take it away Graham... the free bet is yours.......[:)]......   As always I leave you with Rays signature which now reads :- Carve their names with pride.Yankee,3,Fellas,3,P''boro,2,Mr Chops,2,NewYork, Inch High,2, Blahblahblah, NCFC_Shaun, 1st Wazzock, Fonejacker,3, Norfolkbroadslim, Norfolkchance1, Scooby,2, Trent Canary, Cosmic Twin, yes Norfolkchance1 £1121 for the Academy,so far.
 6. What a great Christmas present for all us PUPs and FONCY! Now here are those stats: -   51 of us picked this weekend with 39 correct and 10 void picks making an unbelievable success rate of 95%. Between us we gave Fonejacker 20 different selections with 12 winning and 6 void games making a success rate of  86%. Fonejacker then managed to avoid all the postponed games and selected 6 winners for us. This success really was a team effort though so well done all of you.   Thanks again Fonejacker and I so know you enjoyed your week in charge. This was the halfway point of our season and you got us our fourth win. The season’s total now stands at £161 and the combined total is £1121. The Free Bet goes from strength to strength thanks to Billy’s generous sponsorship and our wonderful team of PUPs. Our great friend Arrdee will be looking down with a big smile tonight.   With all you PUPs doing so well there‘s little change in our league this week. Here is the latest table showing those with over 50% correct from at least 50% of the available weeks.   PUP Correct Picks Season % Canary Cherub [*]18-20 90 Cosmic Twin [*]18-20 90 Graham Humphrey [*]18-20 90 Herman 13-15 87 Mr. Bump 17-20 85 Norfolkbroadslim 17-20 85 Trent Canary 17-20 85 Scooby 16-19 84 Beauseant 14-17 82 Shyster 8-10 80 Ginger Pele 16-20 80 Inch High 16-20 80 Newyorkcanary 16-20 80 Norfolkchance1 16-20 80 Diesel Doris 15-20 75 Muddy funster 15-20 75 Statto 15-20 75 Lappinitup 14-19 74 City-Til-I-Die 13-18 72 Jimbo Jetset 13-18 72 Duncan Edwards 12-17 71 SWP=Poor Man''s Ruel Fox 12-17 71 Excited Canary 10-14 71 Bruce Eating Walkers Crisps 14-20 70 Davo 14-20 70 Sports Desk - Pete 14-20 70 Til 1010 14-20 70 Big Slob 11-16 69 Chelle 13-19 68 Hughesy 13-19 68 Jed Exodus 13-19 68 Sparkos 13-19 68 Charlie Farlie 13-20 65 Fonejacker 13-20 65 methcanary 13-20 65 1st Wazzock 12-19 63 Pboro_Canary 12-19 63 Delia''s Devonshire.. 8-13 62 Fellas 11-18 61 Scrimmage 9-15 60 Shack Attack 9-15 60 Canary Chris 6-10 60 Dogger 6-10 60 Hissing Sid 12-20 60 Leedscanary 12-20 60 Tony Da''Wonderful 12-20 60 GMF 11-19 58 Obiwancanary 9-16 56 Mister Chops 10-18 56 Berkshire Canary 6-11 55 NCFCStar 11-20 55 The Butler 9-17 53 WITS 9-17 53 Brendan 10-19 53 Cityangel 10-19 53 Jellytot 10-19 53 Yankee Canary 10-19 53 Kathy 9-18 50 Smudger 6-12 50   I will be back a day early, on Tuesday, with the Christmas thread when we have another top PUP Graham Humphrey in charge and making the final selections.
 7. Take a bow Fonejacker.  Thankyou for getting those six together for us. You are now a member of the elite of the elite!! That''s right - Ray''s signature will now read Fonejacker,3,[Y]   What a change to have those last minute goals go in our favour and this is a win especially for those who have been robbed by these things going the other way.   And you were right to say the victory was for us all. Because when I do the stats they will make amazing reading! What a marvelous team of PUPs we have now. I have a feeling we will get a few more wins before the season ends. But for now here''s Ray''s signature ammended with this weekend great win : -   Carve their names with pride.Yankee,3,Fellas,3,P''boro,2,Mr Chops,2,NewYork, Inch High,2, Blahblahblah, NCFC_Shaun, 1st Wazzock, Fonejacker,3, Norfolkbroadslim, Norfolkchance1, Scooby,2, Trent Canary, Cosmic Twin, yes Norfolkchance1 £1121 for the Academy,so far.
 8. After so many times when a late goal has cost us it''s great to get one in our favour.   Now come on Real Madrid, don''t spoil the party!
 9. Great stuff so far Fonejacker[Y] Two games left and I know all us PUPs are going to be willing Napoli and Real Madrid to victory.   All you PUPs who changed from postponed games are fine. You will be on your revised selections.   Great to see Leeds appear this morning, I was getting worried about you Kev.
 10. The bet is on with Dixmar Racing, so thanks to our good friends Fonejacker and Billy Dixon we have...   1/5 Apoel Nicosia 4:00 Sat 1/4 Benfica 5:00 Sat 2/5 Fenerbahce 5:00 Sat 2/5 St Etienne 6:00 Sat 4/11 Napoli 2:00 Sun 2/9 Real Madrid 8:00 Sun       Which will win for the Academy £39.00p. I ran the same bet through Boyle and the return would only be £29.27. So that just goes to show why we should bet with Billy. Don’t forget that the best odds on all the weekend football are available to each and every one of us so if you are doing a line today or even fancy these give Billy a ring and get yourselves sorted. So now it’s "game on". Four games today and two tomorrow, finishing with Real Madrid live on sky at 8pm should make for a very exciting weekend for us PUPs. Good luck everyone......[:)]............
 11. Thank you for these Fonejacker. They were obviously a very well thought out set of selections. Once again the picker has come up trumps in what is a difficult week. They all look good for me and all we need now is that little bit of luck that has deserted us for a few weeks.   I''ll get these to Billy in the morning and post the odds on here.
 12. Graham - Christmas Eve will be fine. Don''t worry if I''m not posting over Christmas, I''ll definitely get your six to Billy on Boxing Day.   Fellas - The Twente game is Friday night. I can count it for your own stats but Fonejacker can''t pick this one.   Now is the time for Fonejacker to look away. I selected yet another loser last week which has put me a long way away from our table. But my selection this week, for what it''s worth is Villa Real to beat Mallorca.   Villa Real''s home record is : W6 D1 L0 F15 A2 Mallorca''s away record is : W2 D1 L4 F7 A14   Villa Real     v     Mallorca     Home Win
 13.
PS.  Nutty, any chance you could put up next week''s thread a day early, to give people heading off before Christmas a chance to post their selections?
Yes Cherub. I should have mentioned it in my opening post. Next weeks thread will go up on Tueday. The games will be those played on Boxing Day.  Our Christmas Picker is Graham Humphrey and I''ll leave it up to hime to decide when he makes his selections. It''s ok by me if it''s Christmas Eve or Christmas Day! I will get the final six to Billy on Boxing Day morning.   The following week I will again put the thread up one day earlier on the Tuesday. The games will be those played on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd Jan. Our New Year Picker is Hissing Sid and again I will leave it up to him whether he makes his selections a day earlier or does them on New Years Eve.   Over Christmas and New Year our options are reduced with so many leagues taking a winter break. But us PUPs are always up for a challenge and  with Graham and Sid in charge we still have an excellent chance of some festive wins for FONCY.
 14. What I think is that a supporters club shouldn''t stop supporting the club during hard times.   After all the supporters don''t.
 15.
Has anyone seen Hucks Meets Nigel Worthinghton on www.dh6.co.uk? just Kidding!
I remember that! Good interview as I remember.   Hucks meets Commander Tilson of nCIsA... now there''s a thought......
 16. Greetings PUPs and welcome to week twenty of the free bet season. I can hardly believe we are halfway through another season already! Following Hughesy’s unlucky effort last week we hope the footballing gods are on our side this week where we have “Free Bet Line of Fame” member Fonejacker in charge and making the final selections. Fonejacker was one of the ninety percenters last season where he finished on 37/40 93%. After a difficult start this season Fonejack has hit form at just the right time having selected correctly in each of the last four weeks.   Of course good as Fonejacker is he can’t get us another win without the help of our wonderful team of PUPs. According to the forecast we still need to keep an eye on the weather when selecting. You PUPs have been superb at that so far. With all the games postponed during the last 2 weeks I think we only lost one from our selections. Don’t forget that there’s lots of good information available in our PUPs Library on the NCISA web site.   I’m sure all you PUPs would like to join me in wishing Leeds canary a belated happy birthday for yesterday. Kev has done so much for the free bet over the last few years including providing all the trophies and making trips from Leeds to be with us at meets and presentations. Kev epitomises the spirit we have on these threads and it would be just great to get another win to mark his 64th birthday[^][:S][;)]   I am putting together the rota for January’s final selections. Provisionally I have : - January 1st Hissing Sid January 8th Obiwancanary January 15th Excited Canary January 22nd Sports Desk - Pete January 29th City-Til-I-Die Please could you PUPs confirm that these dates are ok when you post your naps.   I ’ll hand the free bet over to Fonejacker now. Or is that another piece of history distortion.
Bumped for Nutty.
[;)] Why is that bumped for me? As far as I remember there was a share issue in December 04.
Absolutely correct Nutty and as far as i remember a certain pressure group purchased £1,000 in Preference B shares and a couple of hundred quids worth of ordinary voting shares.Word has it that they still have them as well. However as that in itself was a positive step taken by this certain pressure group it will not conform to your agenda and may well have become distorted as it is now history.
Damn!! And I was right on paypal doing the deed. Nevermind.. maybe in time things will change......
 18. I won''t at the moment but never say never. I was taken aback last week when, if I understood correctly, it was said NCISA is no longer a pressure group. If you''re now a supporters club that would go a lot further to persuading me to join than any answer you may give here.

 21. Poo f!! Another one[8-|] The fact the £1m City paid to Leeds for Jon Newsome back in June 1994 remains the club''s record signing has surprised some people, but Wynn Jones said speculation about a massive spending spree during the summer was always likely to be wide of the mark. "I''ve seen a lot of stories about how promotion to the Premiership is worth £20m," he said. "The truth is that clubs like us don''t get that much, it''s probably nearer £14m, and you get it in dribs and drabs, not all at the same time. You''ve only got a chance of getting the higher amount if you are on television all the time and finish near the top of the league. "From what we get we''ve got all sorts of costs to cover - the repayment of preference shares, promotion bonuses to the players and additional amounts on salaries, the new pitch at Carrow Road to mention just a few. After everything has been taken into account there''s not as much money floating about as some people seem to think."
 22. There were also promotion bonuses to be paid to these players. MWJ had plenty to say about all this at the time. Not, like the FPAs, years afterwards.
 23. Poo f!!! (not an insult just an unfortunate coincidence) Just like magic I post and one of you appears[8-|]

 25.
And as you well know, turnover means jack-all. It''s the return on investment that matters. You can spend the money we have on nice catering and, if you''re lucky, bring in a few quid extra. Or you invest in Dean Ashton at the beginning of the season, which is what everybody except the board wanted, and you bring in 20-30 million quid by staying up in the premiership. So what do you want to do? Spend our little resources on posh food for the few, or spend it on bringing in a much needed centre forward for everybody? The arguement was never about spending money we didn''t have, although seeing how debt has spiralled, they certainly managed that; the arguement was all about directing what we did have into improving the quality of the squad. Instead the quality took a nose dive, a good manager lost his job, we ended up in the Third division and to round it off their off-field investments failed spectacularly. The FPA''s pointed out at the time what was going wrong, Worthington has merely confirmed they were right,
There''s two issues here. What Worthington put to bed here was the myth that he didn''t try to sign a striker (Dean Ashton) until January. As I have always maintained he did got to the board for Ashton in the summer but was turned down.   The second issue is why the board turned him down. Was it because the money was spent on other things or was it because the money wasn''t there? I have always maintained it wasn''t there whilst your hero FPA''s maintained it was spent on other things. The FPA''s never take into account the fact that the Premiership millions are not available to spend before the season starts. It''s not. It comes in dribs and drabs. That''s why it''s not just Norwich who have to wait until January to sign a goalscorer like Ashton. I remember Stoke did the same signing Beattie in the January.   The FPA''s pointed out nothing "at the time". They made their assumptions after the event. A long time after the event as they tried to manipulate history to fit their agenda of the day.
