1.

Ah! It''s the Holt one that always gets my goat. True Gunn signed Holty but Lambo made a strong bid to take him to ColWho but didn''t have the money. Apart from that Gunn was a total and utter disaster or maybe not that good!
So why does that get your goat Bury? Holt wouldn''t have signed for little colly in front of Norwich whoever was manager. Just like Lambert wouldn''t manage little colly after Norwich came calling.   What I do find incredible is that there didn''t appear to be Championship clubs competing for Holts signature. He has proved conclusively that he is effective at this level. Still, I''m not complaining, just glad he''s ours!
From what I''ve seen, I reckon he''d give some of the premiership elites a good, old-fashioned going over. But I fear the refs would be seriously out for him.   Now, it being as far as January and with 25 games already under our belt an''all, do you fancy he''ll get that opportunity with us to test himself further next season?   OTBC
If Norwich get the opportunity then I''m sure Holt will. He''ll be 30 next season and so the incentive is certainly there for him. In fact getting there with Norwich could be his only chance.   If we''d have won that play off final in 2002 Iwan would have got his chance with us in the Prem. 2004 he was two years older. A similar senario would be bad news for Holty.
2. I''m doing ok WITS. Crutches all the time ''til February then will find out more.   You youngsters won''t remember but when we first got promotion to the top flight under Ron Saunders he had inherited many of the players. Kevin Keelan, Clive Payne, Geoff Butler, Alan Black, Dave Stringer, Duncan Forbes, Terry Anderson, Kenny Foggo, Max Briggs and Trevor Howard all played a big part in our promotion but were all inherited by Saunders. Some of those had been at the club for many years previously but we had never looked like getting promotion until Saunders made them into a team with additions of his own. In fact the credit for the signing of our greatest ever goalkeeper goes right back to Ron Ashman and even though Lol Morgan is not remembered for much his signings of Forbes and Foggo will go down as two of the best ever made.

4. Lambert should get all the credit for what he has achieved. But that doesn''t mean others can''t get credit for what they achieved. While it''s difficult to praise Roeder for anything it has to be acknowledged that he got Hoolahan to our club. At a time when we were relying on cast offs and loan signings Hoolahan was the one shining light. Equally Gunn signed Grant Holt who I believe is right up there with Hucks as an important signing for our club.   Lambert has done brilliantly to take those players from where we were to where we are. The credit for that cannot be shared by anyone.
5. Greetings PUPs and welcome to week twenty four of the free bet season. This week’s picker is our great friend Leedscanary. Kev has always been a huge supporter of the free bet and has done so much to help make the free bet threads the success they have become. Kev not only provides all the trophies for our PUPs League but he also travels down from Leeds to bring them in person to our presentation evenings. Those of you who have received those trophies, and in fact those of us who have seen them, will really appreciate the efforts Kev makes. But I can tell you PUPs it’s much more than just the trophies. Kev is always there to support me with a txt or a message and I’m really pleased it worked out that he would be making the final selections this week. Today is the second anniversary of us losing Arrdee and I think it’s fitting that his best young gun, Kev, should be in charge and making the final selections.   Kev comes into his week in charge in the very best of form having had just one losing pick over the last eight weeks but he will need all our help to get his name on our line of fame. The French and German Leagues are back this week after their winter break. So we are pretty much back to full strength regarding the leagues we have to pick from. Again I would ask you to watch the weather in the lower leagues. But it seems milder weather is forecast for this weekend. Don’t forget lots of good information is available in our PUPs Library on the NCISA Web Site   Looking ahead to February this is the provisional rota : -   February 5th Norfolkchance1 February 12th Pboro_Canary February 19th Cityangel February 26th Newyorkcanary   Please let me know if these dates are suitable. I can always arrange a change if they are not.   I have been asked to arrange another social evening in the near future. The bad weather and illness made a Christmas meet impossible. February 11th looks a good date to me so let me know your thoughts with your selections. I could arrange a little quiz for part of the evening if anyone thinks that would be a good idea.   I ’ll hand the free bet over to Leedscanary now. Enjoy your week in charge, there’s no pressure because we are all going to be doing our best to help you get your name in the Free Bet Hall of fame. We all stand together with the single aim of raising money for our great clubs academy.   Good luck all you PUPs... take it away Kev... the free bet is yours.......[:)].....   As always I leave you with Rays signature which now reads :-   Carve their names with pride.Yankee,3,Fellas,3,P''boro,2,Mr Chops,2,NewYork, Inch High,2, Blahblahblah, NCFC_Shaun, 1st Wazzock, Fonejacker,3, Norfolkbroadslim, Norfolkchance1, Scooby,2, Trent Canary, Cosmic Twin, Graham Humphrey, yes Norfolkchance1 £1168 for the Academy,so far.
6. I was 17 days old when we beat Crystal Palace 1-0 in the opening game of the 56/57 season. Our goalscorer was a certain Johnny Gavin. That was as good as it got because my arrival into the world brought about what was probably our worst ever season![:$] We finished bottom of Division Three South while ipswich finished top!   If Ricardo''s looking in it wasn''t my fault Rickyyyyyyyyyy! Honest[;)]
7. I could get back there with you next week Blah!   But then again I am struggling to be right two weeks running so don''t hold your breath[;)]
8. 60 of us picked this weekend with 37 correct and 2 void making a success rate of 64%. Between us we gave Obiwan 28 different selections with 17 winning and 2 void making a success rate of 61%. Obiwan did better with his final six than we managed as a group as he finished with 4/6 which is 67%.   Thanks again Obiwan I’m glad you enjoyed the week. Once again not enough went in our favour this weekend but we will all be back next week trying to Rays more funds for FONCY when our great friend and free bet legend Leedscanary will be in charge and making the final selections.   Our Pups League is the closest I can ever remember. We now have five sharing first place with another seven in the chasing pack waiting to pounce. Here is the latest PUPs League showing those with over 50% correct from at least 50% of the available weeks : -   PUP Correct Picks Season % Canary Cherub [*]20-23 87 Cosmic Twin [*]20-23 87 Graham Humphrey [*]20-23 87 Norfolkbroadslim [*]20-23 87 Trent Canary [*]20-23 87 Beauseant 17-20 85 Ginger Pele 19-23 83 Mr. Bump 19-23 83 Norfolkchance1 19-23 83 PurpleCanary 10-12 83 Scooby 18-22 82 Herman 14-17 82 Inch High 18-23 78 Newyorkcanary 18-23 78 Statto 18-23 78 Bruce Eating Walkers Crisps 17-23 74 Davo 17-23 74 Diesel Doris 17-23 74 Muddy funster 17-23 74 Til 1010 17-23 74 Duncan Edwards 14-19 74 Chelle 16-22 73 Hughesy 16-22 73 Jed Exodus 16-22 73 Sports Desk - Pete 16-22 73 City-Til-I-Die 15-21 71 Jimbo Jetset 15-21 71 Lappinitup 15-21 71 Excited Canary 12-17 71 SWP=Poor Man''s Ruel Fox 14-20 70 Big Slob 11-16 69 1st Wazzock 15-22 68 Charlie Farlie 14-21 67 Fonejacker 15-23 65 Tony Da''Wonderful 15-23 65 Leedscanary 14-22 64 methcanary 14-22 64 Pboro_Canary 14-22 64 Sparkos 14-22 64Delia''s Devonshire.. 9-14 64 Shack Attack 10-16 63 Berkshire Canary 8-13 62 Dogger 8-13 62 GMF 13-21 62 Hissing Sid 14-23 61 NCFCStar 14-23 61 Scrimmage 9-15 60 Obiwancanary 11-19 58 Fellas 12-21 57 The Butler 10-18 56 Cityangel 12-22 55 Yankee Canary 12-22 55 Mister Chops 11-20 55 WITS 10-19 53 Kathy 11-21 52 Blahblahblah 10-20 50 Jellytot 10-20 50 Smudger 6-12 50
9. The way Lambert joined us reminded me of the way John Bond joined us from Bournemouth. In both cases it was a huge step up for the manager. In both cases the manager had difficuties from the club they were leaving. But in both cases the young ambitious managers found the lure of managing a club as big as ours too great to turn down. Forget league positions because the fact that Colchester were above us in the league was irrelevant. I would say the difference between managing Colchester and Norwich would be as great if not greater than the difference between managing Norwich and Everton. And it will take a club of Everton''s stature to tempt Lambert away at this time.   As for Steve Tilson - Forget loyalty, he either has zero ambition or he really isn''t that good. I would suspect the latter.
10. It''s ok Purple. I found the Libyan result, they played this lunchtime. I love a challenge[;)]   Good job too ''cause Vitoria ended up losing 2-1!   The PUPs league is very close this year. Graham claimed back top spot last week only for Sunderland to let him down this week. You coulkd say it''s anybody''s to win but that wouldn''t be true because even though my pick won this week I''m still not on the table![:$]
11. Lambert''s words were : - “You have seen the statement and I am happy with that,” said Lambert. “It’s all about the game tomorrow and trying to get through that. I’ll say it once and once only - ask me about the game. That is all I am here for. To win a game of football. Don’t push me on anything because the statement is there.”   Of course he could have said the Burnley job didn''t interest him. He could have made it plainer. But what he did say was largely ignored amidst all the other "facts" flying around throughout the day. It could also have been reported better. Instead of all the "straight bat" stuff more emphasis could have been put on the fact that Lambert was happy that the club had refused Burnley permission to approach him. But that doesn''t sell so many papers.
12.  Hello and welcome Sleaford, here''s a brief run through of how it works.   The Pink Un Message Rays Funds For FONCY Free Bet Thread As with all messageboard communities new people join all the time. Many of you probably notice these threads and assume it''s not for you. Nothing could be further from the truth. Us PUPs are not an exclusive club. Anyone can take part, it''s free to join in and the only requirement is to post a selection on each weeks thread. So I’ll post this brief run through here for anyone who may be interested :- The free bet was set up by my good friend Ray Ducker (Arrdee) to raise money for the Academy. It''s a totally free bet because it''s sponsored by Dixmar Racing who give the best odds every week in an attempt to maximise any winnings for the academy. How It Works Every Wednesday during the season I start the new weeks thread. The ''Pink Un Pickers'' (PUPs) then select their ''best selection'' from the weekends football fixtures. On the Friday evening the nominated picker from our PUPs rota selects 6 results from the weeks picks. I then phone these through to Billy Dixon at Dixmar Racing and post the bet and the odds on here on the Saturday lunchtime. Have we won? So far there have been 23 winning weeks and the World Cup win in which we have won £1168 for the academy. There have been plenty of near misses too and the ''Pink Un Pickers'' have had a lot of fun trying. Of course we can''t lose thanks to the generosity of our good friend Billy Dixon and of course we have our own PUPs competition at the same time. So it''s a win win situation every week for the Pink Un Pickers! From time to time we all meet for a drink and a lot of friendships have been forged. Want To Take Part? Just register with the Pink Un Message Board and post your very best selection from the weekends games on the thread. It''s as simple as that.
13. Great effort Obiwan but it''s a double disappointment for us today. But that''s football and as Norwich fans we''re used to it. But of course we haven''t been knocked out of the cup so our friend City-Til-I-Die will still get the chance to Rays funds for FONCY on 4th Round day.
14.
would love too, but as i am away quite a bit and sometimes cant get to a computer for 3/4 days i dont think i could!!
You are welcome to post whenever you can. I think you''d enjoy being part of it. Raising money for the academy through a fans message board is a great way to feel closer to the club we love. Us PUPs get the bug and find ourselves looking for live scores from all over the world when another win is on the cards. The free bet is unique to our club and the envy of others[Y]   There are lots of knowledgeable football fans on this site. The free bet can pool that knowledge in a way that benefits our great clubs academy. You''re all welcome and have nothing to lose but more than you think to gain[:)]
15. The bet is on with Dixmar Racing, so thanks to our good friends Obiwancanary and Billy Dixon we have...   1/5 Bangor 2:30 Sat 4/7 Norwich 3:00 Sat 1/4 Bolton 3:00 Sat 3/10 Huddersfield 3:00 Sat 2/5 Lazio 2:00 Sun 1/4 Chelsea 3:00 Sun   Which will win for the Academy £43.62p. I ran the same bet through Boyle and the return would only be £32. So that’s a huge difference again this week and just goes to show why we should bet with Billy. Don’t forget that the best odds on all the weekend football are available to each and every one of  us so if you are doing a line today or even fancy these give Billy a ring and get yourselves sorted. I did 8 homes to a fiver this week and the potential winnings with Billy are £66. The same bet with Boyle came to £44!   So now it’s "game on". We have 4 games today and 2 tomorrow and it would be amazing to be able to get behind Chelsea tomorrow knowing that a win would knock Ipswich out of the cup and secure another win for FONCY!   Good luck everyone ……[:)]......
16. Depends if those who perpetuate the myth stop doing it!
17.
My man on the inside tells me that Lambert is happy that the club aren''t allowing Burnley to approach him and wants to concentrate on our match with Orient tomorrow.
My man on the inside came up trumps again!   There''s only one Paul Lambert [;)]

19.
Starting with the social eh NN?
I tried a couple of weeks ago and there wasn''t any interest. But to be fair the weather has been bad and there''s been a lot of illness around.   How about Friday 11th February before the Reading game?
20. Well there''s one good thing, it''s great to see this board busy again!   Maybe we can recruit some new PUPs[&]
21. Aahhh.. important things[Y]   I''ll run the free bet through Boyle Sports so that I can see how much extra we stand to win with Billy[;)]   I can''t keep up with all the threads. On the front page Lambert said he was happy with the clubs statement and wanted to talk about tomorrows game.   If the headline had read - "Lambert Is HappyThat Norwich Told Burnley Where To Go" (or a more journalistic version[;)] ) then there wouldn''t be so much speculation. Or am I missing something?
22. You mean there were more threads on here today??? [:O]   I can''t keep up with the ones that are left!
23.

My man on the inside tells me that Lambert is happy that the club aren''t allowing Burnley to approach him and wants to concentrate on our match with Orient tomorrow.
There''s nothing wrong with having a man on the inside [;)]
Is that just speculation? Because I wouldn''t know [;)]
24. Well what''s changed is that this time it''s not idle speculation. This time Burnley have approached our club for permission to talk to Lambert. This permission has been refused and lambert seems happy with that. So there is no speculation if I''m reading it correctly.
