Worthy poll on Evening News 24

Like we needed yet another poll!!! [:D]

Let''s all get avatars of poll dancers before we vote?

Theres a poll on the front page of this site for MOM v Rotherham. Currently 49.87% Ryan Jarvis, 14.86% Craig Fleming! Really??

I got a poll in my garden holding up my washing line and it is as much use as these for making a difference at the football club!

    Statement aimed to hinder protests!.

Ooops! Maybe I got it wrong.

Are the protests now to remove the board?

  3. nutty nigel

    Statement aimed to hinder protests!.

Following yesterdays statement is there really any need for these protests to take place on Sunday?

If we don''t win on Sunday surely the game will be up and Worthy will resign or be sacked.

If we manage to win we then have a difficult away match to negotiate.

If we get through QPR away we then have Birmingham away before the next home game.

So by the time Cardiff come to town the manager will either be gone, or the board will not have acted following their statement, or we will have had yet another turnaround in form. If it''s either of the last two scenarios then I''m sure most fans will be up for a jolly good protest!

Ever since the Plymouth debacle certain posters have been all over this board like a rash looking forward to the protests like kids the week before christmas. I hated the protests last season and the divisions between the fans that they caused remain today.

let's get rid of Paul Mcveigh
Nice rant sheded! Spot on I''d say!

CJF - I too have my doubts about your assertions. You play with words like some real journalists - careful to sprinkle your statements with plenty of ''It''s well known...'' ''Rumours abounded...'' ''I think the quote was...'' type of statements. You used to be the king of the cut''n''paste - can''t you find the Shackell quote? Even the Neil Doncaster thing is very shaky. Every time you mention it you seem to make his statement more hard-line and yet, when challenged, the best you came up with was ''I think Neil Doncaster mentioned something about this in reply to another fan''s letter, last season...''. That''s a far cry from what we have now - ''Neil Doncaster has admitted that Worthy has had numerous bust-ups with players''! As you say, it''s normal for managers and players not to see eye-to-eye at times, that hardly makes it a truth to imply that a whole host (if we have enough players to form one) of players are just waiting to see Worthy gone, so they can shine for a new boss.

Sharing opinions is one thing, embellishing statements to make them fit what you want to believe is another.
(I may have been guilty of that myself, just now, by incorrectly quoting CJF himself!?)

Thankyou Fat Barman, just what I was trying to say, you can put your thoughts into words far better than me! Bet I can pull a pint as good as you though!!! [;)]

let's get rid of Paul Mcveigh

I maintain we would probably see a better McVeigh should a new manager take charge.  He looks totally hacked off this season.  Same with Shackell whom also does not get on with the manager, its no surprise to see him dropped recently after his performances have faultered.  Worryingly Safri has looked awful recently and probably plays a part in our awful run of results.
Fans darling Paul McVeigh has been rubbish this season and in my opinion hasn''t deserved to start the last few games. Shackell has been a bit shakey but I disagreed with him being dropped, even though Flem had a good game in the week, cuz he is a young player and has to make mistakes before he can learn from them. Safri''s game has always lacked consistency and, in my opinion, if this wasn''t so he would be playing at a much higher level.

CJF, how do you know certain players don''t get on with the manager, you make countless statements like this without backing them up with any proof!
Its well known Paul McVeigh and the manager don''t see eye to eye.  Rumours abounded about shackell not being a favorite of Worthy''s I think the Shackell quote was "he doesnt like me".....

As for proof what do you want, McVeigh to say he doesnt like worthy in the press and never play again.....  Simon Charlton stated the manager has his ''Favorites''.  I guess its not that great being in the other camp, jarrett didnt like it also, nor brennan.  Funny how Leon wanted out so desperatly that he engineered a move to the mighty Coventry.

Also Neil Doncaster has admitted Worthy has had numerous bust ups with players, I would say it is normal at any football club.
It''s well known by who? I don''t know it? If you have information that I don''t have please share it with me! Similarly I was under the impression that Leon was well thought of and engineered his own move for his own financial and personal reasons but I have nothing to back this up so no way would I post it as the truth.

This is about the third version of what you believe Neil Doncaster said about Worthy. Have you heard what he actually said? Or read it anywhere?

I think you have difficulty seperating rumour from fact, but that''s just my opinion [;)]

    RIDICULOUSLY AMBIGUOUS STATEMENT!

I agree with everything thats written here RH. I could have written this after the Plymouth match, and believe I did write something similar about the performance, I blamed the players more than the manager but the whole lot of them weren''t good enough. And in my eyes this statement is just another concerned fans post on the messageboard. What happens if we win the next 2 games and then go on to lose the next 3? Will there be another statement then? Are we now expected to win every game? What constitutes and improvement? I know Delia and Michael to be fans first and foremost so the fact that this just reads the way it does is no surprise to me. One can only assume that a different statement was privately made to the manager, coaching staff and players stating more clearly what was required to "turn things round"!

  8. Wayne,  the posters on this thread who didn''t renew their season tickets are not "premiership/fairweather fans". Their posts make that clear enough to me.

  9. Why is it needed? If its to be used as a taxi to remove the manager it won''t work. It''s been tried countless times before and hasn''t worked. If its to count which posters are in which gang then its childish cuz people who don''t subscribe aren''t neccessarily supporters of the manager, and many, like me, don''t want to be in a gang!

Jas, why is that article superb?

"Nigel Worthington''s record in the transfer market is the lead factor in unrest starting to thrust its way to the surface"  Do you believe that?

"If Worthington had kept hold of Simon Charlton and Jim Brennan it just wouldn''t be the headache it is proving to be at present." So do you believe we should have offered them new contracts?

"As each player packs his bags to leave Norwich, they fire a parting shot at the present set up" What parting shot did each player fire? Do you know? Cuz he doesn''t tell us in the article!

"Take Ian Henderson, for example. When he does manage to score, he doesn''t celebrate with his team mates; instead, he runs over to the dugout and jumps into Worthingon''s arms!!!" Unbelievable! Have you noticed that happen?

"There is even a suggestion that he has a ''special'' relationship with one director" Perhaps that''s the bit that makes the article so good?

I find the whole article disgraceful and distasteful, but maybe you just liked the petulant cry-baby bit!

I''d take Foghorn anyday over this CJ!!!! Maybe Waggers was right afterall! [:D]

Dear Nigel or may I call you Nutty

1.You spent money on some very poor goods and old fashioned models which have failed to deliver, so I question your ability to utilise our cash wisely- they cannot not be returned

2 You contantly blame the workers but they are the workers that you interviewd, so I question your recruitment ability. Did you ever ask these workers for references or to pass a practical or to see their qualifications

3 Your apprenticeship scheme seems to operate on a very unfair basis and you discriminate against local boys

4 you have sacked unfairly members of your staff who could, had they not have been compensated by the club taking you to an industrial tribunal

5 You fail to see the talent that is under your nose therefore I feel you also fail on medical grounds
Just call me nutty cuz I couldn''t be nigel and nor would i want to! I''m still not sure about this disciplinary thing, surely if that was the case the board would have acted by now. Many of the things thrown at Worthy on these boards are made up or unsubstantiated rumours. I have always supported the manager on here but not without some very deep soul searching at times. My one reason to sack him right now would be because the fans would unite behind a new manager at least for a little while.

    To quickly answer your points:-

    1. I believe Worthy''s record in the transfer market is no worse than any other manager in this league and better than most. He has worked within the restraints put on him by the board who haven''t always delivered the players he identified as first choice.

    2. Much to the annoyance of many people Worthy defends the workers more than he blames them. Which workers are you referring to?

    3. I am not sure what you are getting at with this Hump.

    4. Not sure the Team Manager sacks anyone. I think, as with bringing people in, he makes suggestions.

    5. I doubt anyone could be sacked for just not having the same opinion as you.

We don''t know what targets the manager is set each season, I rather suspect they are below what most fans would like them to be, and he probably hasn''t fallen short enough to warrant being sacked.

protests needed for burnley game--live on sky!!!!
The naswer is that it gives the "campaign" more impact and might embarrass the directors into action. At the moment the Board exist in a "comfort zone" of their own where Archant and the local BBC/ITV are scared to be overly critical because it might spoil their relationship with the Club (ref: Waghorn''s article last year about supporting the manager right up to the moment when he "stabs him in the back") Last week Leeds fans had a pro/anti Kevin Blackwell debate on 5Live Sport, lots of media coverage over his future etc. Look at the coverage that anti-David O''Leary banner got when MOTD showed it - "We''re not fickle, we just don''t like you" has become a catchphrase! Despite the arguments that we go through on here week after week, very little coverage gets tot he national press about this - they do not seem to be interested. My point was that the Board might take a little more notice of the fans'' concenrs about the Club if there is national media coverage. Delia was happy enough to appear on Jonathon Ross and on the Sky cameras when she cosied in with the away fans during the Prem season. Where is she now? She''s not been doing that too much for the last two seasons has she? Not wanting national coverage of the debate over Worthington''s future smacks of the typical "little Norwich" attitude that runs through the Club. Perhaps I can turn the question around - why wouldn''t you want it discussed on Sky, 5Live etc?
I have no reason why I wouldn''t want these issues discussed on 5live etc, and that wasn''t the point that was being made. I think the point that was being made was that some of us don''t see how it would be a good thing if the disgraceful scenes that took place inside the ground last season were to be repeated on national tv this coming Sunday!

When you were doing the managers assessment, what areas of my performance warranted him being placed on a disciplinary procedure?

    Please elaborate.

Carling Cup four round here we come!
the reserve team we basically fielded actually played better than the first team

ok, it was against a lower opposition, but still it was more entertaining and better football

maybe we should be playing these players...
Against Rotherham Tuesday night we matched them for effort and it seemed to me that there was more fight and passion in the team, whereas Worthy''s old chestnut about "earning the right to play" sprung to mind yesterday in the league! But you are right, it was lower opposition in the Carling Cup!

    You're so s**t it's unbelievable.....
This thread is so damn true, the players are as much at fault as the manager

we dont know what happens behind the scenes, i''m sure most of you have not met nigel in person or seen how he managers or anything. The players could well be the problem. Worthy has been well known for his ''kick up the bum'' half time team talks, we all know he can do the job, and when everything is posative and going our way, we play well, and everything is good (start of season, promotion season) but when we start to loose confidence, and start loosing, we seem unable to get out of the rut.

Maybe Worthington isnt the major fault, prehaps some of the players still need a leader to look to, the person that used to be Roberts.
Cue loads of posters pointing out they are Worthy''s players,  so ultimately it''s him that carry''s the can and it''s hard to disagree with that!

Worthy has undoubtedly made mistakes and must be partly to blame for the bad performances but he can''t be totally to blame for everything that happens after the players cross the white line.

I have met Worthy, only briefly and I don''t pretend to know him, but he doesn''t come across as being the way he is portrayed in many threads on here.

Iwan Roberts and Malky Mackay were huge characters both on the field and in the dressing room!

  18. nutty nigel

Who on here would be unhappy?
I realise it isnt going to happen as we have a pathetic inept board but:

Who on here would be unhappy if Worthington was sacked and Martin Hunter installed as Caretaker boss and why?
Not sure! Would need more information.

Like, just for starters, what qualities does Hunter have that Nigel Worthington doesn''t?

  19.
So, a large travelling support have a long journey home after a disappointing display. With an away record like ours what did they expect. I don''t feel sorry for them, the players obviously don''t and the Club couldn''t really care less. So why bother? 20,000 plus season ticket holders £25,000 home capacity crowds, money banked, why should the Club worry. Now Leeds (and others) just don''t turn up, nothing sings a loudly as an empty seat and the Club has to take notice. I don''t want to tell anyone to do anything, it is a personal decision but it seems to me the mind-numbingly stoical supporters of Norwich are just getting what they deserve from a complacent, sound bite, media savvy Club and acting like a bunch of revolting peasants being told to stay in their place by the ruling classes, tugging their forelocks and shuffling back for more of the same.
I''m glad you don''t feel sorry for us Ramrod, and you are right, the players obviously don''t either!

I don''t wanna tell anyone what to do either, but it seems to me crazy that you bother with this forum having decided to leave you''re seat empty at Carrow Road.

Would miss your avatar though! [;)]

    You're so s**t it's unbelievable.....

... can we play you every week.. you''re not very good!! I sat quietly listening to this but I was full of anger and embarrasment. Some of the Norwich fans around me started chanting we want worthy out, others kept quiet. I wonder if the players were embarrassed when they heard those chants from the Plymouth fans and then did they think "listen to our fans... they blame the manager so we got away with it  again..... but we better win a few games soon to save his job so that he gets all the blame next time we go missing!!" I was one of the fans that kept quiet, I am still not convinced that a change in manager is the right thing for the club at this time, but I''m not convinced it''s not either. What I do find incredibly strange and hypocritical is that the players are above criticism unless their name happens to be Andy Hughes!

Thankfully I saw none of the disgraceful scenes like there was last season where fans turned on eachother but I do fear what will happen if things go wrong at the Burnley game. I hated the atmosphere in the ground towards the end of  last season, fans turned on eachother and there were appalling scenes after the last two home games. Having read some of the comments on this board today I''m not looking forward to Sunday one little bit!

Is RICK WAGHORN now on the payroll ?

Didn''t Rick Waghorn used to write columns in the local media trying to show the club in a positive light.. didn''t he used to support the manager and try and justify his feeble excuses for poor results.. didn''t he write good things about the board and the fans?

Oh yeah.. and didn''t he once criticise some posters on internet message boards and coin the phrase "Citizen Journalist" thus creating our very own Citizen Journalist Foghorn?

    How very dare he!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [;)]

  22. I used to know a guy who ran with the Herbycides and he said they was real good at pest control.. so the other gang isn''t so big? .. looking round here you could be right.. they got a halfwayhouse22 for a base and their very own statto journo guy.. and hoofbol hoofbol who is so good they named him twice.. plus they got a website and some petition lists.. they sometimes gotta wizard ... they even got an angel... and some other guy i can''t remember his name.. christ!!. no i don''t mean they got christ I was just saying christ.. and they got loads of chums in the ncisa gang.. they are the idealists, telling it as it is without holding back, they want change now and believe that anyone who doesn''t is a bit lilylivered..

don''t think i wanna join a gang today..

i''m gettin'' old so can we play stone, paper, scissors instead?[sn]

  23. canary cherub is no more.. i just found him cowering in a darkened room wailing "they found out about me... my secret''s out... i will never be able to show my face at carrow road again........[W][U][um]"

I warned him this would happen.. i told him not to get involved on here.. i warned him about the lot of ya but he didn''t listen and now his grubby little secret is out for the whole world to see... i told him about how this place had wizards and hexes and spells and stuff but he laughed and said he didnt believe in all that tripe.. but i know he did cuz i seen him checking out spell remedies on this here computer.. in fact i should never have let him have a computer cuz the internet is a bad place for people with dirty little secrets... i told him never to post on here.. i said lurking is safe but he didnt want to just lurk.. so when he started posting i told him it would be best and safest if he joined the biggest gang.. he never was sure about which was the biggest gang and he didnt like gangs anyway.. i think he was bullied at school and that could be why he turned out with a grubby little secret... anyways.. he refused to join a gang.. he said there was good and bad in both and he wanted to remain independent.. sorta like keeping his options open in case he may want to change his mind at some point.. i think some of it rubbed off on him though cuz i always told him to be careful  when he was shaving under his arms and he used to just smile and say "keep the faith" but this time he said "if i cut myself it will be bloody worthingtons fault!" I told him over and over and over again NEVER use the phrase true fan.. i told him there''s nothing more likely to get him into trouble than typing those two dirty little words and i know he tried not to.. but he slipped up just once and now he has paid the price.. i told him not to do it and warned him of the consequences and now look what''s happened... i told him to be careful who he mixed it with on here... i told him he would be ok if he kept away from people out of his league.. i wondered if it would be the wizard who got him but he seems a friendly old soul so all is not what it seems with him... I thought he was gonna fall out with cityangel but i think he had a soft spot for her.. i think he''s even more upset to think she now knows his little secret... he would never have lived with the wisdom and wit of rudol'' and yankee so thank god he never crossed swords with them... it was mello  jello yello who sussed him and hung him out to dry on here just like canary fairy on a matchday.. oh well.. i better go check on the cherub now... then i may come back here for a while...

the cherub was reading a letter over and over and muttering it was true all along and neil says he even fell out with captain canary and splat the cat for too many fancy flicks in the warm ups.... we just got a phonecall from Neil Doncaster demanding all his stuff back cuz he is most upset about it being on these boards about him taking size 10 shoes.. he now blames me for this and won''t give me anymore puter lessons and i''d nearly mastered the lefthand button of the mouse at the last one.. oh well.. its prob all for the best.. cherub wondered if it''d be safe to go to plymouth on saturday.. what do you think... maybe he''d be better watching it on the radio or teletext cuz if some of those big sailor boys find out his secret he could be in bigger trouble than ever.. he can still put his player ratings on here wherever he watches the game.. i think so anyway.................................

gotta go now.. i''ll let you know if the cherub ever recovers from this public humiliation...... i''ll be back soon though

pssssst... tell me...which gang is best to join?????????????? cuz it''s all kicking off in that stop moaning about dublin thread.. which one is the tr..(oops) real fan.. is it the one who hurls childish insults or the one that wants to meet up in brannigans on matchday...no wonder the cherub hid in here with the other harmless nutters..........
