Why I think we will be relegated.
I remember our 1st relegation from the Prem..........and where we were at Christmas that season...........The rest is history.
I remember it too Mello. I think the difference is that this season the board and the manager have been busy trying to stop the rot where as in that season nothing was done to stop the slide.

shhhhhhhhhh.. don''t tell anyone cuz it won''t go down well! [;)]

Why I think we will be relegated.

SOB - I am a reasonable poster, even though some unreasonable posters don''t think I am [;)] Being reasonable can''t possibly be a weakness.

I also acknowledge your point of view, I see where you are coming from but I don''t share your pessimism. I will be absolutely clear too. I think we are about to hit a run of good form, and during a run of good form when confidence is high games can''t come fast enough. Our run in is hard but so is everybody elses. Yes we do have to play the top three but these are all home games.

I know I''m nutty but I hope in a reasonable way. I have no wish to fall out with a tough guy who has horns on his bonnett! I''ll just stick to upsetting those scrawny chickens!!! [:D][8-|]

    Come on!!!! Lets be havin'em!!!

    Terrific post Koimatsuba!!

And a breath of fresh air on a message board full of the usual gripes and groans even though we are playing at Chelsea tomorrow in the 5th round of the FA Cup.

    Dare to dream!

  5. It was us Blackpool or Bristol City who were going to have that "honour". So it''s interesting that although the FA''s stated objective is to use the FA Cup to redistribute funds throughout the game neither of us was selected for a live game. There are 10 premiership clubs and 6 championship clubs playing this weekend but of the 8 teams to share the £2,120,000 Live Broadcast Fund only 1 (Preston) is from outside the Premier League.

  6. People will always read what they want to in anything the club say. But slowly the tide of opinion against the club is changing. Soon going to matches at Carrow Road will be fun again. Hopefully Grant will continue to turn things around and bring success back to our club. Then watch as posters hail the board for having the foresight to appoint him as manager in the first place!

You never know, but if the good times return some poster may get so carried away that they suggest having a statue erected in Doncasters honour!!! [:O] [;)] [:-*] [B] [I] [li]

You can get 16/1 for us to beat Chelsea. The same price as we are to be relegated!

    Both just as likely/unlikely...............

Can Dublin Be A City Legend?............

Of course he can be a legend wiz.

He may have only been here a short time but in that time he had to win over plenty of fans who were willing him to fail so that he could be used as a stick to beat Worthington and the board.

Dublin and Peter Grant both had this disadvantage when they came here, Dublin has won over the fans with his performances on the pitch and we are starting to see Grant win them over with his honesty and passion off the pitch. I hope they both become legends.

Dublin won''t start every game for us this season, let alone next. I hope fans don''t take out their disappointment on players who may take his place in the team whether it be Brown, Shackell or Doherty.

so depleting the squad even more.

we wont have any players left at this rate!
players in all likelihood we won''t use if they stay here.  If we need him, we can recall him.
No blah.. that''s it for me!!!

No Ryan Jarvis = No future I''m afraid.

I have been confident that we were going to make the play-offs and get to the Cup Final. Now we will surely get embarrassed on Saturday and relegation beckons!

SOB - I know I''ve lost my marbles but you must be a couple of waves short of a shipwreck to suggest "there''s no reason for us not to be comfortably safe" and then starting a thread stating why you think we will be relegated!! [:)] [:D] [;)] [B] [Y]

    Underestimating Dickson.

Now, we know that City fans - at least those on this board - rate Huckerby, Earnshaw and Shackell (to some extent) highly.

But Dickson Etuhu is widely and roundly criticised and slagged off.

I submit that Worthington, Grant and the PA Sports Actim Index are probably right, and those many of you who slag off Dickson are wrong. Now, if this is the case, it begs the question - Why?

Anybody like to attempt a reasoned answer?
I can offer you a reason why BBB but I fully expect to be slagged off for saying it.

Worthington, Grant and the PA Sports Actim Index understand the game and are doing a job where as us fans pay our money to be entertained. Us fans have preconceived ideas of what we want from players and don''t always see it the way it really is. And we don''t always understand the game or the jobs players are expected to do.

Does anybody seriously believe that if Dickson was as lazy as fans make out he would still be selected week in week out. He may have his faults but being lazy isn''t one of them.

If you want further evidence of this just check out ZLF''s scapegoat thread. Many fans believe that The Doc gives away freekicks that cost us goals and yet the facts dispute this. If you check it out you will see that this season we have only conceded one goal from a freekick conceded by The Doc and that was by all accounts a refereeing error. I bet Worthington, Grant and the PA Sports Actim Index know the truth though.

Anyway, as in the case of Carl Robinson, the manager will select the strongest side he has available. He will bring in new players to improve the side and when he does some players who were automatic selections will be moved on.
Do you want evidence there are some rubbish players in the side Nutty - look at the league table this year and last. Etuhu is still a weak link.  He is rubbish, we see it, preston fans saw it....  Is he lazy - probably not, is he slow - perhaps.  Can he read a game of football - I think my mum has a better chance than this guy.  The quicker this joker is out of the side the sooner we will start climbing the league. There is talk of Dead wood -well Etuhu is some we may get some mullah for...

Pre season against Cambridge summed him up - he was out of his depth.

Notice how well we have done since dead wood Carl ''big pile of ****'' Robinson has left the club!

Worthington thought Andy Hughes would make a good central midfielder and that he and Jarrett composed a ''Wealth of midfielders''....  So don''t use his flawed judgement of the last 2/3 seasons matey.

Eboohoo is rubbish and we will not miss him from teh team teh moment he is finally dropped - just as we arent missing Hooze and Bobinson now.

    Chelsea Predicitions / Betting

    I dare to dream!

    2-1 to Norwich!

Hux will put us one up with the Chelsea defence appealing for offside. Shevchenko will equalise with a wonder goal. Marshall will keep us in the game with a series of brilliant saves including a penalty.Chelsea will hit both posts and the bar and the referee will disallow what looks like a good goal for offside. Then on a rare breakaway Czech will fumble John Terrys back pass when his swim hat slips over his eyes and Chris Martin will be first to the ball to score the winner!

Where do you get your material Shaun????? [;)]

Anyway, it''s only me and Kathy who dare to dream. The rest of ''em are all realists who expect us to be stuffed and probably can''t wait to get on here on Saturday night to slag off everyone from Delia to the tea lady. Predictable and boring though it is!

  20.
And I find it very hard to believe that he concedes the least free kicks and the least free kicks leading to goals. I can think of one right now, v Plymouth!

I don''t want to become another boo boy just jumping on the donkerty bandwagon, really i don''t, but i''m afraid everytime it rolls by i just can''t help jumping aboard! Why is that?!
I may have missed some but I think these are the goals we have conceded from free kicks:-

Leeds away: penalty Croft. Southend away: Free kick Safri. QPR away: Free kick Shackell. Stoke away: Penalty Ashdown. Leicester home: Free kick Shackell. Southampton away: Free kick Etuhu. Plymouth Home: Free kicks Doherty and Dublin. Blackpool away: Free Kick Dublin.

It should be said that the concensus of opinion was that the freekicks given away by Safri against Southend and Doherty against Plymouth were refereeing errors.

According to the official Football League stats Safri and Etuhu give away 50% more freekicks than Doherty and Shackell.

Robinson, Safri and Shackell have 6 yellow cards Etuhu now has 5 where as Doherty has 3. Of course Doherty had a red card against Burnley.

If Doherty is really more guilty of fouling in dangerous areas then he must be bribing the refs too.

I always seem to be drawn into these discussions to defend "The Doc" every time they roll by! In truth I find him at times to be infuriating too. He doesn''t inspire confidence because his body language is awful. He always looks like a mistake waiting to happen or a foul waiting to happen. When they do happen we are waiting for them and we remember them.

The crazy thing is that in all the time people were slating Doherty goals were being given away cheaply by the last line of our defence and yet that culprit never got the same criticisms from the fans.

Sometimes it would be more honest to say "I just don''t like him"!

    Performance Bonuses the way forward?

Who is going to rate the performances of the players?

Howabout using player ratings from here and canary call??

Dohery and Etuhu would need income support after a couple of weeks!

  22. The truth is that there isn''t much to choose between all three. Dion''s experience and leadership possibly puts him on top but his age and the need to build a partnership for the future counteract that.

I still believe we should continue with Doherty and Shackell who I think are good enough to get us up this league. But we should also buy another centreback in the summer. Not "a has been" but another Chris Brown type player, a player young and hungry but with experience at this level or better. Then let the best pair win!

I am not a great Doherty fan, I don''t think he will ever be a canary great or anything, I just don''t think he is as bad as posters make out. Did anyone else notice Shackell give away yet another freekick on the edge of the box in about the 90th min last night? What if that had been "The Doc"??

  23.
Or perhaps Hux only works when we get him to change position midgame?
Hux is our most dangerous player Zipper and probably your "tongue in cheek" remark is also not far from the truth. One of Worthy''s faults was that he didn''t have many plan B''s. He appeared single minded about a lot of things with changing tactics during matches being a good example. When it''s not working Grant is not afraid to make changes to players or systems during games and changing the role of our most dangerous player must surely upset the oppositions plans somewhat.

    Dare To Dream!

Like I said on a different thread yesterday, the Sheffield Wednesday game was my first ever game too. It was an unbelievable atmosphere and nothing came close until 1972! But even then the atmosphere was different and my memories of that Sheffield wednesday game and being in a 42,000 crowd at Carrow road are totally unique, different to anything I have ever experienced since.

    Dare To Dream!

Since when did "realism" have anything to do with the FA Cup?!?!

The FA Cup is about dreams and we should all be thinking the unbelievable and believing the unthinkable.

40 years ago to the very weekend we were 3 points off the bottom of this division. 18th February 1967 we travelled to Old Trafford for an FA cup tie against the best team in the land. The gulf between the two teams was vast just like the one between us and Chelsea today.

Our fans dared to dream but the realists pointed to the facts. Our striker was injured. Their team would include the likes of Best, Law, Charlton, Stiles and Stepney. But we had players who dared to dream. We had Kevin Keelan, Tommy Bryceland and a young David Stringer marking a young George Best. We had Don Heath only playing in the absence of Laurie Sheffield.

12,000 Norwich fans rode their dream to Manchester that day, I was too young to go and have always wished I could have been there too.

And yes the unthinkable, the unbelievable, the unrealistic result happened. Don Heath put us in front with United vainly appealing for offside. Denis Law equalised with a wonder goal but an inspired Kevin Keelan kept United out and Gordon Bolland got the winner from a defensive mistake on a breakaway.

United went on to win the Championship and the following season those same players were the first English team to win the European Cup. Norwich lost to Sheffield Wednesday in the next round but only lost two more league games all season and finished top half.

Come on you lot! Who dares to dream?
