1.
Which authority, theolster ?
Chris Sutton probably (see theoldster''s other threat - I mean thread "worthy and sutton the facts and truth").   Chris is a Big Name so is bound to know.
 2. Cheers Pete! Never seen anything like it in my life. I was in the back row of the LB and got drenched to the skin.  The noise was defeaning, the wind was swirling - it was like a scene out of  Twister! Toon Army suitably impressed.  Flem barking mad to come back out in it, but confirms legend status.
 3. Can I really be bothered to reply to this?  Nothing better to do while the tea is brewing, so might as well . . . Point 4: we already have one injury-prone 34 year old, so why do we need another one? Point 6: Darren Huckerby Tea up!
 4. Hmmm . . . this is the same site that has a poll on "How many points will City have by the end of August?"  Included among the categories is "!8 points", which  8% of voters apparently think is a possibility. Spot the deliberate mistake . . .
 5. I wondered how long it would be until the WOs found another stick to beat Worthy with . . . this is sooo boring, get a life, move on. How self-centred can you possibly be, if you imagine that Worthy either wants or needs to curry favour with the fans - or, conversely, to antagonise them? Pathetic.
 6. We scored from a set piece last night . . . how often did that happen last season (I''m sure someone has the stats), not often enough IMO.
 7. Good turnout 15,000+ but the Snakepit was almost completely empty.  Shame on you.  1-0 to the Barclay Boys.
 8.

Who was the last NCFC to have a testimonial ? tim sheppard v celtic ian crook v rottedam gunny v man utd (saw cantona and scholes play)

Alex Notman the day after Craven Cottage
 9. Even the most diehard Worthy Hater would surely have enough sense to realise that a protest tonight would only discredit them even further.
 10. At last the press have broken cover. Some of the figures eg. the cost of the stands, are rather lower than those given in the Annual Report. And it doesn''t even mention the level of debt, despite ND''s recent statement that we are "nearly £20 million in debt". Nevertheless, the fact that the issue is being aired at all is a step forward IMO.  Let''s hope it doesn''t stop there.
 11. lol, rofl  Rude Old, you''re on exceptionally good form this morning.
 12.
Surely it''s time to bury the hatchet and welcome Big Bob back with open arms, if not as a member on the board lets name the new Hotel after our rash yet charismatic ex-chairman, I feel a monument is in order at the threshold of Carrow Rd, something along the lines of ''The Statue of Christ the Redeemer'' overlooking Rio de Janeiro would be very apt indeed, especially when you consider the Brazilian style of football on display during Sir Bobs reign.
Great idea.  "Big Bob''s Love Shack" the country''s first custom built legalised brothel - it would solve our financial problems overnight (so to speak) . . .
 13.
I said if we are very very lucky , trouble is at the moment we are not lucky , a failed Blackpool manager in charge of the team and a ancient tv cook who knows diddly about football in charge of the club. I am hopeful though a good 80% of fans HATE this manager , that counts for a lot when things get nasty , and nasty its going to get.
"We need a Manager", you need a Psychiatrist . . .
 14.
I do not think Hucks thinks he is bigger than the club, he knows it is safe to make the statements he is because even NW would not be stupid enough to drop him the way things are at the moment.
I don''t recall Hucks saying anything that would make NW want to drop him.  I suppose it depends how people interpret it.
 15.

Yawn yawn , why dont we rubbish a true City legend like Sutton for something to do .
He was a decent player for us, but he wasn''t here long enough to be labeled a legend in my opinion. Besides, I''m not rubbishing him, I just think hes had his day. Comebacks rarely work. Remember Fleck...he was a shadow of his former self second time around. His best role was winding up the opposition, had a head like a 50p piece.
Ahh, Flecky.  Who else could kiss the badge on his shirt, in front of the Barclay, on his first visit after he moved to Chelsea, and still be forgiven?  At least he gave us some lighter moments on his second tour of duty, when there wasn''t much else to smile about.   Remember when he mooned at the away fans?  They''d been winding him up all game (can''t remember who they were except that they were in blue and it wasn''t the scum, unfortunately).  Flecky came to take a throw-in in front of the away section.  As he bent over to pick up the ball, he quickly dropped his shorts to his knees and pulled them up again.  The away fans went berserk, Flecky put his innocent cherub face on, and the officials knew that something had gone on but didn''t see it.  Hilarious.
 16.
Thanks megson for clearing that up. I''m guessing most of that went on the new South Stand, which was a mess and needed replacing. So when we talk about the debt, we''re talking about some money to ensure that we have a fourth stand, which we need to house our season ticket holders, and some money to buy some land to make money to help to pay for the stand ? Is that a fair summation ?
Blah, I understand that the Jarrold accounts for about £7.5 million (cost of construction - the true cost being the cost of construction plus the interest on the loan until it is paid off.  By my calculation that''s +/- another £2 million to date.) The NU Corner accounts for about £3.2 million plus interest. £3.4 million plus interest was spent on seven acres of land, the purpose of which is presumably to raise revenue. £1.3 million plus interest went on fitting out the top floor in the Jarrold Stand as a conference suite.  You are probably right if you are surmising that they intend to rebuild/enlarge the City Stand.  Just one question?  Why is a fourth stand to "house our season ticket holders" a priority at the present time?  Unless the club starts to show a level of ambition on the pitch that matches their ambitions off it, IMO a sizeable number of existing ST holders wouldn''t bother to renew if the capacity was increased and the waiting list abolished.
 17. Yes, why not?  I won''t make a special journey but I''ll pop in if I''m up that way.
 18.

2) The board thought that Earnshaw (however expensive) was a fail-safe should we not be promoted this season.  You can almost (barring injury) guarantee that Earnshaw will bring in £2-£2.5m in transfer fees if/when we need to sell.  Howard, Cook and Halford may not be saleable for that amount combined.  Earnshaw is the boards "get out of jail free card" in terms of making some quick money when the parachute payments run out.
Agreed.  Earnshaw is the only player in the squad who is likely to make the club millions of pounds of profit, apart from maybe Green. Aswell as that, we get the benefit of the goals he scores, and the games his goals will win us.  If you''re a board member, he''s a "win-win" purchase at the price we paid. It could be that the board are "once bitten, twice shy" regarding chasing promotion.  Where did it get us last time ?  The answer seems to be an extra 12 million in debt, but I''m not an accountant, and don''t have the books to hand.
Blahblah, my understanding from the club''s Annual Reports is that the debt has arisen largely from a £15 million loan (or possibly £17.5 million - a huge sum anyway) taken out in 2003/4 (part of which was used to restructure the existing debt), which increased the overall debt from £8 million to £18.1 million.   In the Prem season the club made an operating profit of £9.2 million (about £7.5 m million after tax).  When the profit was offset against the previous year''s loss, it left a profit of just over £4 million. The debt increased slightly in 2004/05 to about £18.5 million. ND recently stated that the club is "nearly £20 million in debt".  The reason for a further increase is not yet clear.  The Annual Report is due in the autumn.
 19. 02, I think Wiz is winding us up.  Ignore him.
 20.

please tell me paul how many injurys did we have last season ?
Hi King of Latvia:  Have a read of this, it makes for a refreshing breath of fresh air compared to comments about our youngsters from our manager........... http://212.58.240.36/sport2/low/football/teams/p/preston/4876780.stm From the article: "Davies'' team have achieved this, despite three players who started last season''s play-off final against West Ham leaving the club and an injury list that has stretched his squad to the limit. David Nugent, Callum Davison, Matt Hill and Brian O''Neil all started against West Ham - all are out injured. Nugent and Davis are said to have no chance of returning before 21 May, the date of the play-off final. Furthermore, Adam Nowland, Andy Lonergan, Danny Dichio, Lewis Neil, Patrick Agyemang and Ormerod are also currently ill or injured. " Preston continued their good run despite the long injury list and finished 4th before being undone by Leeds in the lottery of the play-offs.
But . . . Preston had a squad of 30, we had 23. PS.  CJF is back, omigod!
 21.

We go to football to watch a decent football team , not look at a piece of land , some people just cannot grasp that .
What''s the pitch if it is not a piece of land? What some people cannot grasp is that based on ticket sales alone this club is cannot compete in the Premier League in terms of potential revenue - we need as many ways of making money as possible.  It''s just the way that football is going and it means that clubs need to look beyond conventional revenue streams.
Saint, I fail to see how squandering £2 million a season on servicing an ever-increasing level of debt is going to take us forward in either financial or footballing terms.
 22.
Well someone down at Carrow Rd understands our frustration with the lack of signings Asked whether the players were demoralised by the lack of new arrivals, he said: “It''s not so much the players, it demoralises the fans. I would have thought they would have been expecting a signing or two. I know the gaffer''s desperate to get a few signings in but it doesn''t seem to be playing that way the minute. “We''ve still got a  parachute payment and this and that and you''d have thought that we''d have at least dabbled a little bit into the transfer market but at the minute it seems like it''s not going to happen.” Seems to me that the difference between these two is easily summed up, Hucks cares about us fans and how we are feeling, Worthless doesn''t care a toss. I find it difficult to believe that theres anyone left on this planet who can''t see that we need serious changes at our club.   Worthy Out!!!!!!
Call me a thick peasant CA, but I fail to see how you conclude from the above quotes that Worthy doesn''t care.  As I see it, the way things works is roughly like this.  The manager identifies the player he wants and makes a case to the board.  Then it''s out of his hands and over to the people with the money to negotiate a fee.  If it doesn''t happen it may or may not be the board''s fault, but it certainly isn''t the manager''s fault.  Why is all this starting to remind me of the Dean Windass scenario?
 23.
It is pretty obvious that the board are in effect saying to Worthington - " You have wasted much of the money given to you last year , so we''re not giving you much this year " - However this is a doom laden scenario - They are setting him up to fail , so they can get rid of him after 10 games ( hopefully before ! ) and give the next manager the money to spend . Why they didn''t they get rid of him last season and avoid this farce !
What on earth would be the point of waiting to sack him until after the transfer window has closed?
