Next season has to be one of the most important in the clubs recent history. With parachute payments from our season in the premiership ending it has to be of paramount importance to the long term success of our club that we get promotion next season- if not it will have very serious impacts on our long term stability. For this reason if the board has any sense left at all then they must stretch our very tight purse strings a little and provide worthington with a decent kitty to play with. Surely there must be some money left from the sale of Ashton as Earnshaw only cost half that and also we are due 6 million in parachute payments. I really do think that if the board donĀ“t make at least half this money available then they are being very short sighted indeed. With around 3 million we could get the big centre forward we need, a midfielder and a defender which would put us in a position to mount a serious promotion push, if the squad stays as it is then we have no chance. Surely it is worth a degree of financial risk to try and get back in the premiership this season? it has to be a bigger financial risk in the long term if we do not invest over the summer......
