1. This wasn''t far off my reaction to the Holt news: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgNkjv1z6Mg
2. Brendan''s a top guy and a brilliant manager but I think he knows he''s not ready yet. He hasn''t quite yet sorted himself out a plan B with that side yet and will want to show that him and his side arn''t just a flash in the pan. I think also feels indebted to Swans after they give him a chance to rebuild himself after his Reading tenure.
3. Are all the fans who''ve turned on Holt the same ones who were quite willing to ditch him during Morison''s fine run in the early part of the season? Or the same ones questioning his form and place in the side in the early part of the Championship campaign until his hattrick vs Ipswich? Give over guys, Players may not be loyal but the second a player has a slight dip in form or a bad game look how most of you turn on our players the second they make a mistake. I''m ashamed of our fans all too often, from the bitching and whining at Gary Lineker on twitter every week over our position in the MOTD running order or the petty comments over media admiring Swansea over ourselves to booing our players off the pitch after the Wigan game. More stroppy than a 15 year old schoolgirl on her first period.
4. I think Joey just needs a bit of help in all honesty, very very complex individual. I actually do think somewhere in him is a decent, intelligent bloke. That however doesn''t excuse his behaviour and agreed he deserves to be banned and if I was in charge at QPR i''d probably sack him too.
5. If your getting the Andy Carroll who was at Newcastle then it''s a great player to have in the squad. I think people have forgotten how good he was until THAT big money move. Strong, nigh on unbeatable in the air but suprisingly good with his feet too. However Zamora over Grant? That''s utter tripe on Woy''s part if true.
6.
the guy is the best presenter ever!! whats the betting that Rickie Lambert makes Le Tissiers team for next season? He is gonna wet his pants every time Rickie Lambert scores next season and say he should play for England, especially as he said the guy was better than Holt a few weeks ago!!!
Ask Grant Holt how good Rickie Lambert actually is! He knows him better than most people in football seeing as their best mates... For now the only reason i''d say Holt is better is because we''ve seen him cut the mustard at this level, however, i''ll be very suprised if Lambert doesn''t next season
7. My squad would be: Hart Ruddy Foster Walker Richards Lescott Terry Jagielka Smalling Baines Cole Walcott Sinclair Parker Gerrard Phil Jones Josh McEachran (I know he''s not been regular with Swansea but the lad can play) Ox Ashley Young Holt Danny Graham Defoe Carroll Few wiser heads to guide a youthful team, Carroll will probably get criticsm but the player he was at Newcastle doesn''t just vanish and there the bloke was a beast and could do it all, good fit, didn''t lose headers, hold and link up.
8. I don''t care how new to the side he is if Holt doesn''t play Howson should be skipper!!! As for Elliott Ward, yes he made mistakes but he''s been a big player for us since joining and even since coming back into the side this season he''s turned in some great games (Swansea and Spurs away spring to mind), he was also not helped by the fact that like him or not he was up against one of the best strikers in the world today in Suarez who makes 95% of the games defenders look poor
9. I blame Steve Morison... everything else at the club is is fault at the moment!
10. West Ham... My Great Grandad was a supporter and he was the one I first watched a game of Football with. After that it''s normally team''s ive grown fond of for various reasons such as Fiorentina, AEP Paphos, Feyenoord, AGF Aarhus, Gladbach & Malaga
11. GoalKeeper: I think we need an experienced GK, it gives some true competition for big John and gives Rudd a chance to go on loan and gain some proper 1st team experience. Rumor has it Spurs are in the market for a new GK to learn under Friedel so possibly Cudicini on a one year deal? A full back: Making Naughton''s loan permanently would be nice but IMO unlikely, Gunter has been touted about and was tipped for big things a couple years back but his move to Spurs never came off for some reason. That leaves me more inclined to look at Nathaniel Clyne from Palace. Personally I don''t think Drury will get a new deal either so possibly a LB needed too, I''d look at someone from one of the relegated sides who''s not going to cost a massive amount of money. CB: For me I''d again look at someone with a little more experience, a wiser head to help guide Bennett and Ayala who will be our 1st choice pairing but can also come in and do a job if need be. Possibly Upson? Depending on wage demands etc, I''d move on Leon Barnett but keep hold of Zak and Ward to cover injuries. DM: This is, for me, the most essential area we need to sign a player in, part of the reason we concede so many goals is the lack of a player who can effectively protect our back 4, a role known in Italy as a "Regista", personally Emmanuel Frimpong on a loan deal would be a great addition, he gets about the pitch and breaks up play well, coming from Arsenal though you know there''s a good chance he''s going to be able to pass it well too. Winger: The main candidates touted have been Jarvis, Kightly and Snodgrass. Jarvis will be looked at by bigger clubs than us with a little more financial clout who''s also more established in this division. Some on here won''t like it but possibly a Stoke, WBA or Everton even will be more attractive prospects and sniffing round, Leaving Kightly or Snodgrass I''d personally rather see Snodgrass, can player on both flanks and offers a good goal threat also currently a Captain of his club, something Lambert seems to like in players he signs. Striker(s): Jackson and Wilbraham arn''t good enough for this level of football, they''ve came in and done a job at times this season but if we actually want to progress and establish ourselves in the PL we need better. I''d personally give Morison until January at least to see if he can re-discover form before looking at a replacement for him. The obvious candidate is Rhodes as he seems a "Lambert signing" but for me it depends on exactly how much Huddersfield want for him, this and the holding player are two areas we must get right and spending £4-5 million on Rhodes is too much of a gamble. If we can get him for about £2-2.5 million then I''d sign him. I know a lot of people want Doyle or Fletcher but I think they''ll command to much of a fee for ourselves to sign. I''d personally look abroad to Holland and look at Heerenveen''s Bas Dost, the latest in a long line of quality strikers to come from that club, he''s been linked with Villa and Newcastle but I don''t think he''ll command a massive fee, the biggest threat would be one of Holland''s top clubs. I accept it''s a longshot he''d join us though. So in summary: Cudicini Clyne Upson Frimpong Snodgrass Rhodes Bas Dost I''d ship out: Rudd (Loan) Barnett Drury Crofts Lappin Chrissy Martin Simeon
12. I think it''s more to our players making some silly errors, look at Saturday... Brad Johnno waiting for the ball to come to him for Tevez'' opener, Bennett''s backpass. We also conceded a stupid number of penalties opening part of the season. Next season our players will have, hopefully learnt from this and you should see an improvement.
13. Pacheco yes, in a heartbeat, would be a replacement for a now 30 and, as much as it pains me to say it, only has a season or two left at this level Hoolahan. His time in Spain from what i''ve read and heard isn''t neccessarily down to poor form it''s more that he''s unhappy at the club (Rayo Vallecano I beleive?) Lansbury I don''t think is needed, quality player though and if we were to offload a couple of midfielders i''d love to see him back!
14. It''s not my place to question Paul Lambert, if Lambert deems it right, it''s right!
15. Swansea and ourselves have done brilliantly this year, all this bitterness and jealousy towards them from groups of Norwich fans is quite frankly disgusting and small minded, it was the same while we were cantering to the League 1 title... rather than enjoying the ride fans were moaning Leeds were getting more exposure than us and the last season it was Cardiff and QPR, now Swansea. Can we simply not just enjoy where our club is and how WE are doing? Why worry that the media are lavishing praise on a team that have earnt and deserve it? We''ve had more than our share of praise from people, particularly MOTD2 and Stan Collymore. Grow Up!
16. This year''s shirt has been my favourite NCFC shirt in a very long time
17. Can''t look far beyond Van Persie to be honest, he''s been sensational this season. If Arsenal can build on this end of season form, get Podolski in and a couple other signings they''d be my tip for the title next season.
18. It''s just for this season mate
19. Really rate Howson, will be massive for us next season!
20. As i''ve already said on Twitter tonight, if this was a a Norwich fan/fans, him/her/they are a disgrace to our club, their families and the human race. Absolutely digusted to hear this.
21. GP... you have a very flawed logic in your thought that if Llorente was world class someone else would have brought him. How do you know people haven''t tried and Llorente turned them down? Look at Francesco Totti, IMO, one of the most gifted players of his generation, could have moved to one of the traditional superpowers of football a hundred times but chose to stay with Roma. The club someone plays for doesn''t mean they''re not a quality player.
22.
Usually I think he is a complete numpty. But I actually agree with him this time. While Stoke are very dangerous from throw ins it wasnt like it was shoved straight under our crossbar and they scored. We had about three decent opportunities to prevent the goal and failed to through pretty average defending. Cant say I am suprised w are being tipped to win either. . Solid mid table side against the bottom of the table team who will have sparse away following. You would all be slaughtering him if he said anything else
Spot on man!
